    Post AirForged the last Firebender (BF Sorc 18 2 Pal) U26

    Uurlock is about to finish his OzyMoronic Barbarian / Shadow-Kai lives. Having had a blast.

    Time to do Bladeforged and Sorcerer lives. Am sure is simple and straight forward, but thought I would post and get feedback - suggestions.

    Goals: Bladeforged and Sorcerer Past Lives along with multiple Primal and Arcane Past Lives, EE Capable, FUN!

    Have all destinies, and lots of past lives. Planning on Running in Shiradi Champion for Primal past lives, and either Magister or Draconic Incarnation for Arcane (don't know which will be better).

    Have lots of gear... and will be posting gear level by level and turning this into a build.

    VERY ROUGH Draft (mk I). Gear after lv15/16 is just placeholder text at this moment.

    Twists of fate... scratching head on.

    Adamantine Body and ASF is also something working through. Worst case is to change to Mithral Body.

    That is what I am hoping.

    Vaults of the Artificers loot, commonly referred to as Cannith Challenge gear. You can upgrade most of the loot to tier 3 - which usually adds BtC (instead of BtA) and the ability to craft onto it. SO you can add MCI (masterful craftsmanship I) - which lowers the minimum level (except on epic gear can't go lower than 20).

    Most of the Vault of the Artificers loot is great, relatively easy to get (especially this weekend with +50% challenge mats), and often overlooked.

    bracers of wind (ml:4) - blur
    rock boots (ml:4) - the stone prison guard proc's allot
    ring of the stalker (ml:9) - manslayer
    ring of the master artifice - no warforged/bladeforged should be without

    How come so much in Fire Savant? A modest investment in EK could get you another -10 ASF, plus Mage Armor and Shield. Are you having problems with your ASF?

    Default SO... it begins

    IR'd back to 1 today.

    Realized I had 1 life of bladeforged already done, so going to do a quick 1-20 sorc to help sort out the gear and enhancements. Still doing a 18 Sorc 2 Pal but as drow. Yes, a lawful good drow.... something wrong, seriously wrong with that.

    For the most part not worrying about gear. Started with a couple of odds and ends (shield and exp retreat clicky) and the Ember Greataxe. Love the start robe... +1 to caster level. Haven't seen that before.

    Been a blast! Using frozen tunic from challenges, bracers of wind, and blasting chime to just power through. EK tree gives a cleave... and well, nothing lives. ;p

    Lesser might of the abishai set, goggles of haste, and some cannith crafted gear....

    Next up --- level 10!

    I got in a hurry and chose Adamantine on my BF Sorc at level 1. I went with it, but it cuts to much into the power curve at this level of the game for a sorc by having to take to much EK, and other, to get 0 ASF. I swapped it out for Mithral, put 3 pts in BF ASF and my survivablity has been fine. 19 and only one death way back in Undermine mibe field (with Adamantine on). I leveraged an avg of 55 more dmg on regular cast and up 200 more on crits being able to place more points in my Savant. I'll be switching back to Adamantine when I hit 20 and can slot a -15% ASF Aug.

    I ran a wizard over a year ago who for a while had 10% I couldn't cut down. It wasn't horrible, but it was a huge difference when I cut it down to 5%. 5% is a mark you'll rarely fail.

I went with it, but it cuts to much into the power curve at this level of the game for a sorc by having to take to much EK, and other, to get 0 ASF. I swapped it out for Mithral, put 3 pts in BF ASF and my survivablity has been fine. 19 and only one death way back in Undermine mibe field (with Adamantine on). I leveraged an avg of 55 more dmg on regular cast and up 200 more on crits being able to place more points in my Savant. I'll be switching back to Adamantine when I hit 20 and can slot a -15% ASF Aug.

    I ran a wizard over a year ago who for a while had 10% I couldn't cut down. It wasn't horrible, but it was a huge difference when I cut it down to 5%. 5% is a mark you'll rarely fail.
    yes, ASF blows green gopher gut chunks.

    However, at low level (<10) just grab a greataxe and master's touch and you are GTG and DTK (down to kill).

    As Uurlock approaches the end of this first Drow life - many thoughts and changes are going on, including lv20-27 gear. Since the next two lives are starting at lv15 - then all is good for adamantine body. However, with U27 coming out soon - might change over to Cold / Acid specc'd for 15 --- just for the elec and fire immune quests.

    so on last of three lives using this build. Been busy in real life so taking my time. Also now gathering gear for Halfling Warlock Great Old One lives coming up. Just got the heroic Sages Ring from WGU...

    Tried every ED, and while Shiradi seems to do so much more damage, it also brought out the Blue Kool Aid addiction Uurlock has been fighting for nearly 10 years.... So Magister.

    Some slight changes to Spells. Swapped out Power Word: Kill for Wail. PWK is powerful, but way to slow.



    Also was running these twists - but went back to Empyrean Magic: Passive Bonus: Whenever you cast a fire, light, or healing spell you gain a stack of Empyrean Fervor. Each stack of Empyrean Fervor gives you +2 Sacred bonus to Universal Spell power, +1% Sacred Bonus to Critical Chance with all spells. Duration: 10 seconds. Stacks 10 times. (Divine Crusader)

    and put in Endless Faith --- wow what a big help, recharge to 30 and 10% more spell points? youbetcha!



    Swapped over to Fire being primary because nice AOE vs Electrical, and since wearing Epic Red Dragonscale and matching helm, get a big boost to fire casting level (comes out to being level 35 or 36).




    Now I do not pretend to be an uber player, rather I have always maintained mediocrity. Do not usually play UBER builds with the best equipment, just in it to have fun.

    Did you get to play this build all the way to 20? I am going to be TR soon. I will have 2 sorcerer past lives, this one you have posted I want to try with the pally splash. What race did you end up deciding was the best? Bladeforge? WF? Drow?
    I played 18 sorcerer 2 rogue Warforge so i could self heal and do some traps.
    I want to try this sorcerer pally now. What kind of gear you use in the lower levels? Anything that one can equip and just go with it?

    I am planning a similar build BF Sorc, but I had a few questions you may be able to help out with.

    1. Armor, I feel it might be a better choice to go for mithral plating over adamant since the removal of mrr. This would allow for higher dodge and needs less ASF mitigation. Also with light I can reach above 50mrr and don't think I can get to 100. Or am I missing something here? what are your views?

    2. With the "adjustment" to Divine Grace, is it still worth it giving up a 8th and 9th spell slot for the 2nd paladin level, +8 saves and LoH, what are your experiences with LoH in particular, will it matter or will it be just a minor heal? and will those extra 8th and 9th spells matter?

    I am asking since I will be out a capstone anyway, due to Iconic and not willing to pay for a lesser+1 just for a single life. So what do you think is 2pal/18sorc still the way to go or is 1/19 the better option? for in the current game? Or do we have to leave the box further and go 1/1/18 ? your thoughts please

    Played this all the way to cap several times, and several ER's.

    Bladeforged IMHO was the best choice because of the racial heal, and other self heals (repair). However, if you do not want to go into the epics any race really would do, and Drow would give you a little extra Charisma - a small boost, just beware that you are giving up constitution in the process.

    18/2 rogue would work - just not as much synergy because INT needed for skills (traps) and CHR needed for spells. Gear can more than make up for it (and past lives).

    Yes, for the most part - random loot can work just fine in the lower heroics, but I'd strongly suggest cannith challenge casting gear - Bracers of Wind, Cloak of Flames, Rock Boots, Blasting Chime, and if not a robot - Frozen Tunic. If WF/BF Ring of Master Artifice is so worth it.

    What you see for the level 15 gear is also available at level 4,8,12 at least for the cannith challenge gear. Now with insightful being (or has it been removed) spell power on armor - can really beef up your primary spell power.

    I'd also look into the Skyvault Shield (just use Master's Touch on it), it is a tower shield:

    Sad face here because the frozen tunic doesn't come in anything but cloth, no docent, no light or medium armor.

    Comes down to personal play style for mithral vs adamantine body, what I'd do now is still use adamantine body and Fanion in heroics, and then the epic Skyvault shield for the last push to cap. (see above for more information on the Skyvault shield). In the end you can start with one and always have a pleasant cuppa tea with Fred and leave a changed forged... IMHO it t does come down to PRR more than MRR, but one word on the different between Mithral vs Adamantine Body when it comes to MRR, Mithral is light armor and so capped at 100 MRR, while Adamantine is considered heavy and has not MRR cap. Mithral also grants 1/2 the PRR that Adamantine does, and with many sources of maxing out to full BAB, easy enough to push up PRR.

    Yes, Divine grace isn't as, well OP in this build as it was before and I did notice the change in survivability in EE content, but you still get +8 to all saves! This is a massive boost to survivability. Plus the 2nd level of paladin grants access to Lay On Hands - which does 100% healing to both squishies and forged alike. Is this enough to forgo an additional 8th and 9th level spell? Personal call.

    Effectiveness of LoH - well, depends on two factors: your positive spell power / lore and your HAmp/RAmp (healing/repair Amplification). It is not a minor heal (150+ IIRC) with decent spell power and HAmp, both of which are easy enough to get in. Blue Dragonscale XXX has potency 80 and spell lore - so that covers that, and now HAmp/RAmp is everywhere on random generated loot.

    For the final question - all three are viable builds. Comes down to what you want to do, what will be fun for you to play. If you are into eking out every last bit of DPS, then there is a build that splashing in like 4 levels of FvS, 14 Sorc, and 2 Paladin. You should be able to find it in these forums if you want to look at it. This is what makes DDO so great, the endless choices and difficult decisions and discussions about those choices. So play to have fun, and if you end up with a less than ideal for you build, then change it next life, because there is always a next life.

    Yes, MRR isn't as good as it was before the update to the update to the update of armor up --- but PRR is what matters most:
    Docents PRR
    Mithral Body BAB * 1
    Adamantine Body BAB * 2


    AND MRR is capped....
    MRR Cap

    Different armor types can apply a cap for Magical Resistance Rating (U23):

    • Robes, Outfit, or empty armor slot: 50
    • Light Armor: 100
    • Medium Armor: No cap
    • Heavy Armor: No cap
