Update 80 Release Notes

News and Notes:

Duergar and Iconic Duergar Mindcleaver:

  • We have created an article on DDO.com that delves into the enhancement trees, Past Lives and more for both the Duergar and Iconic Duergar Mindcleaver. Find our guide on DDO.com.
  • Dwarf Race Adjustments: In conjunction with the new Duergar, we're also making the following changes to the base Dwarf's tree:
    • Tier 3: The hole here now contains Multiselector: Favored Enemy: Vermin / Giant / Monstrous Humanoid.
    • Child of the Mountain is now 1 Action Point per rank.
    • The movement speed penalty on Stand Like Stone is now 20% (was 50%).
    • Hands of Stone now uses Stun DCs instead of Transmutation.
    • The base DC of Hands of Stone now starts at 14 (was 10).
    • Dwarven Axe Training 4 now also adds a +1 Competence Bonus to Critical Threat Range with Dwarven Waraxes.
    • Dwarven Pick & Hammer Training 4 now also adds a +1 Competence Bonus to Critical Threat Range with Warhammers and Heavy Picks.

Features and Balance Changes​

  • Cosmetic Teleportation is now available! Included in your pre-purchase of Terror of Demogorgon is a cosmetic teleportation item that when consumed will display as a Feat. Toggling this Feat will adjust which animation is used when teleporting.
  • Adjustments are being made to the duration of various teleportation items to standardize the system:
    • Teleport spells are now a standing induction that can be interrupted by movement (channel duration matches the current channel time of the expansion teleport items). They can no longer be Quickened.
    • The Key to Eveningstar now has a 20 second cooldown.
    • The D12 Stormreach teleportation item now has a cooldown of 20 seconds.
    • All expansion teleportation items now have a cooldown of 20 seconds.
    • All teleport inductions are now 2.5 seconds instead of 4 seconds.
    • Use Magic Device checks on scrolls now rolls much earlier in the animation cycle.
    • None of these changes affect the Dimension Door Spell.
  • The values of certain loot affixes have been adjusted to significantly boost the rate at which items contribute to Spell DCs. These changes are being made to make it easier to build up a DC caster, especially in a character's Legendary levels.
    • Bonuses found on random loot, crafted loot, and named loot that contribute directly to spell DCs have been increased. This increase includes any item that uses our scaling system, which also includes things like Dinosaur Bone and Viktranium crafting. This increase is focused on the three main channels for Spell DC boosts - Equipment, Insightful, and Quality. Items currently in circulation will update to the new values automatically.
    • This increase starts out smaller in the heroic levels but increases significantly after reaching level 30.
    • Both single-school effects (Such as Necromancy Focus) and all-school effects (Such as Spell Focus Mastery) have been adjusted.
    • We have also adjusted how these effects compare to one another; after these changes, single-school bonuses will always be higher than or equal to their all-school counterparts.
    • We have also adjusted the bonuses on the Heroic and Legendary ring Argonnessen Eye Band to be Sacred-typed to help cut down on typing complexity.
    • We have adjusted the bonuses on the Level 16 and Level 24 Topaz Augments that grant bonuses to Spell DCs to further help cut down on type complexity. These augments will now provide a +5 at level 16 and a +6 at level 24 Equipment bonus to their respective spell school.
    • As an example, an item currently statted for level 34 would have Spell Focus Mastery values of a +5 Equipment bonus to all spell DCs. With these changes, that same item will instead provide a +8 Equipment bonus.
    • As another example, an item currently statted for level 34 would have Necromancy Focus values of +6 Equipment, +3 Insight, and +1 Quality. With these changes, that same item will instead provide +12 Equipment, +6 Insight, and +3 Quality.
  • The Accelerate Spell Metamagic feat now protects applicable spells from being interrupted when taking damage.
  • Randall Lyric now appears in two new locations (Myth Drannor and Lamordia) with a new selection of augments to trade!
  • Items found during the Symphony of the Fey event have lost their event exclusive borders.
    • Going forward, while an event with equipment restrictions is active, only those players playing with those restrictions will see the event-exclusive warning overlays, and they will only see them over items that would provide a penalty.
    • This means that during any other equipment restriction event, players not participating in the event will not see any changes with their items, either new or existing.
    • It also means that if you are playing with those restrictions, you'll be warned for items that are invalid for you, so you'll not see anything over gear that is valid for your usage
    • Items will continue to drop with the "souvenir" effects, and those effects will continue to persist, as a fun reminder of the world-shifting nature of these immersive experiences!
  • New Filigree have been released!
    • There are 6 new Generation 3 Raid Filigree and 2 new Generation 2 Raid Filigree.
      • Divinity/Ultimate Fury: +2 Str (Rare: +4 PRR)
      • Shadowstrike/Bend Fate: +2 Dex (Rare: +4 PRR)
      • Technomage/Unbreakable: +2 Con (Rare: +4 PRR)
      • Lunar Magic/Serpent: +2 Int (Rare: +4 MRR)
      • Abiding Path/Elemental Avatar: +2 Wis (Rare: +4 MRR)
      • Keeper of the Curse/Angelic Wings: +2 Cha (Rare: +4 MRR)
      • Final Burial/Coalesced Magic: +2 Wis (Rare: +4 PRR)
      • City's Beacon/Enlightened Step: +2 Str (Rare: +4 PRR)
  • The split-prefix Unbound Crafting recipes within Essence Crafting have been temporarily removed from the game. They will return in a future update!
  • Reduced the number of enemies in some groups in the quest "Just Business".
  • Adjusted lighting and decor in the quests "Blown Deadline" and "House of Pain" to make certain valves and levers easier to spot.

Bug Fixes​

  • The augment Miserable: Force Absorption's tooltip now displays the correct amount of force absorption.
  • The Helm of Workplace Safety now has flavor text.
  • Charm Monster: Mass for Bards now accepts the Embolden Metamagic feat.
  • Inflict Wounds admixtures can now accept the Embolden and Heighten Metamagic feats.
  • A trap box in Amber Temple has been rotated correctly.
  • Solar gems of Threat Decrease now work on ranged and spell damage instead of just melee.
  • The Claw combat style now properly works with the Dark Imbuement and the Living Shadow feat.
  • Death Attack in Dark Hunter now more reliably applies its debuff.
  • For Cormyr! now lasts its intended duration.
  • A misbehaving pillar found in the Blue Water Inn has been reattached to the wall.
  • Soul Eater's Devour the Soul debuff is now visible when examining enemies.
  • Miscellaneous debuff icons and strings have been fixed for all Warlock enhancement trees.
  • Certain augments that provide Spell Penetration now correctly report their typing.
  • Dark Hunter's Smoke Trap now correctly applies to bosses.
  • Alchemist's on-hit imbue spells now correctly apply to bosses.
  • Sacred Fists' Radiant Servant 6th core now correctly functions.
  • Violence Begets Violence is now properly min level 12.
  • Rapid Condensation no longer requires Spell Resistance.
  • Corrode Weapons now correctly reduces accuracy.
  • Caustic Overload and Voltaic Burst can now reapply its own debuff without waiting for the debuff to expire.
  • Form of the Lord Vampire in Dhampir now stays through death.
  • The Disintegrate spell no longer pretends to be Dust to Dust.
  • Eladrin Chaosmancer core abilities now persist through death.
  • The Death Ward spell is now properly Shield typed.
  • Energy Sheathe Negative now functions as intended.
  • Rejuvenation Cocoon no longer breaks invisibility.
  • Dragonborn Males can now fire dual crossbow special attacks.
  • True Resurrection's spell name has been fixed in the resurrection pop-up.
  • The Serpent sentient set now properly gives +2 to its DCs.
  • The Thornlord longbow now has a more immersive tooltip.
  • Fixed a variety of typos in many quests.
  • The door to the optional in Locked Away part 2 is now named correctly and sends you to the correct place.
  • Certain past lives no longer give an enormous amount of saving throws for no reason.
  • Magical Recoil in Machrotechnic now functions as intended.
  • Fixed some target mismatches in Arcane Trickster's stolen spells.
  • You can now actually purchase returning throwing items from the test shops within the Test Dojo during our Lamannia previews.
  • Fixed some incorrectly calculated DC math for Kata of Ice and Kata of Darkness.
  • Spell Lore items now properly boost Poison Spell Critical Chance.
  • Myth Drannor's Slayer quest no longer references Lamordia.
  • Tiefling Male's tumble animations sync up with player movement much more reliably.
  • It is no longer snowing in Saltmarsh.
  • Adjusted the names of some Archetype past life feats to better organize them alphabetically.
  • Grand Theft Aureon no longer removes your maximum tumble charges.
  • Wisps are no longer invisible.
  • Removed duplicate keybind setting for Epic Destinies that didn't do anything.
  • Removed a floating airship tiedown from House Kundarak.
  • Removed some floating cups from the Lamordia tavern.
  • Adjusted a table in "The Same Old Song" to not be floating.
  • Dhampir now display Thorn Knight and Thorn Kin visual effects.
  • Crippling Strike now functions again.
  • Dread Mist from Dark Bargainer now properly damages Undead enemies.
  • Fixed some incorrect text in the Arcane Trickster character creation flow.
  • The Alchemist Study feats now stack correctly and have color-appropriate icons.
  • Ettercap Incursion, Relentless, and teleporting to Morgrave University Upper now have their correct loading screens.
  • Alarphon's Mighty Spells deal damage again.
  • Exiting the quest Dinosaur Crisis now places you in the correct location.
  • Fixed a misbehaving trap box in Setting The Wards: The Patriarch's Crypt.
  • Restorative Drought now correctly flies towards allies when cast.
  • The Legendary Omniscience Ring now correctly drops with Mythic Ring Bonus.
  • Red augments of negative spell power now correctly state that they also boost Poison Spell Power.
  • Dragon Lord's Past Life now provides its Breath Weapon DC bonuses.
  • On-hit and on-spell effects that do not benefit from Spell Power no longer erroneously benefit from additional spell power from enabled Metamagics.

Engineering Changes​

  • Certain UI elements such as the quest objective panel now have a more complete bottom right corner graphic.
  • Spell Power, Spell Crit, and Spell Critical Damage now appear in the Details+ Tab.
  • Adjustments have been made to how slotted Filigree set bonuses appear to ensure that all slotted Filigree set bonuses are visible.
  • When examining an item, the names of Set Bonuses are now gold instead of teal.
  • Rune Arm DC and Breath Weapon DC bonuses now appear in the Details+ Tab.
