    Exclamation DDO Wiki

There is a informational database of all things Dungeons and Dragons Online for your perusal, available here:

Why are you still reading? Click the link! Oh well... if you really want to know more... ^^/

It's a wiki, which means it's written by you, the readers. You are, of course, under no obligation to add anything, or even register an account (if you felt like it, you could even edit without making an account, though we generally prefer you do do so), but it's there if you DO notice an error and would like to fix it - we, and the rest of the community, would thank you for keeping it accurate and updated (-:

A major part of our wiki is empirical information about the game world and character development - classes, spells, enhancements, races, equipment you can find in-game, feats, quest lines, etcetra. A lot of people know about these, but they aren't all we do.

We're also trying to build a database of all the guilds on all the servers - please feel free to add your own guild to the list, or edit your guild's entry if it's out of date or incorrect.

We're also working on the DDO Information Project - a lot of spells and things in the game seem to be missing specific numbers on damage and other effects, so a lot of our users are collecting tables of data by casting spells over and over and averaging the results and looking for basic formulae for everything in-game - they could certainly use some help if you're interested in information and numbers.

Last but not least, we'll soon be opening a section for people to post their own characters - a whole page on the wiki devoted your character, with whatever you want - backstory if you're an RP'er, level, exact build, guild, friends in-game, whatever you would like. We're excited about this, so watch around for news of when we open it.

In any case, this thread will be for you to yell at me if you don't feel like going by the wiki to do so, and a place for me to post news about the wiki, links to important sections, and I will be glad to answer any questions you post here. Thanks for dropping by! (-:

No threads on it, but its often remarked about when someones seeking information...l know one or two people who nearly always drop a link to it.

    And grats on getting sticked.

Good. Now maybe I can find a link when I'm actually looking for one.

There was a thread discussing player pages on ddo wiki which prompted me to take a look. I ended up adding my guilds to their guild page.
    I'm back!

Are you tuned in and turned on to

    Yep! This one.

Thanks for adding your guild! We're trying to build a directory of all the current guilds on all american and european servers.

    Peer got sticked?!? LOL!

(Sorry Vig, but needed a chuckle this morning and wanted to share)

As for the info in the Wiki, always remember the information is entered by anyone passing through, so don't take it all at face value as gospel.
Good reference overall, keeping that in mind.

    I got stickied!?!?
I'm not sure whether to take that in a sort of dirty japanese-porn-y way, or as a compliment. Either way, I think I need a shower now, ^^/

(not that kind of a shower... sicko!)

Anyway, I wish one of the people bashing my site just because it's a wiki would PM me, just one, so he could point out things that have been vandalized and are wrong. It would really **** me off if anything some people have been saying is true - there is a special page on the wiki that automatically lists every single change to any page, anywhere on the wiki. I check it 4 or 5 times a day. If there are vandalous edits, I revert them - so far, within an average of 3ish hours since they were made. Never more than a day.

More importantly, we don't really GET any vandalism to the DDOwiki, thankfully - nothing like we get on other sites, anyway. The last time I had to ban an IP due to vandalism was over 4 months ago - and it's been almost two weeks since I had to revert a vandal's edit.

Now, as to the accuracy of non-vandal edits, I'm not exactly sure - I just bought an account in the game to post on these forums, but I don't play - so I can't personally vouch for it. But I *can* vouch for the dedication of our admins, Tihocan, Robin and Anonymous, and I know they are always leaving notes asking for contributors to verify their edits if they themselves can't jump in game and find a way to verify whatever change was made.

My point in all this is - for a number you read to be wrong, somebody has to go to the trouble of not only editing a page, but instead of doing the normal 'vandal-y thing', just deleting all the content and leaving "LOL IEDITRD WIKI!!!!!1!' (the technical term for that is that newbalism), they have to bother to edit something on the page and insert invalid information while STILL making it look viable, like real encyclopedia information; but it also has to slip by a LOT of vigilant peoples' eyes last, which is very unlikely. That sentance was... way too long. Anyway, I think you get the idea.

If somebody does have a problem with the wiki's workings, please contact me privately, thanks.

(p.s. cdbd3rd, I wasn't directing this at you specifically, I know you weren't itending to slander us or anything like that - it's just that there are people who are lol)

DUDE. I'm trying to figure out how you make money at this, because seriously, I'm a fan of community involvement on the net as much as anyone, but I wouldn't go that far.

It's bee a while since I contributed anything to the wiki. I'll see what I can do soon. Your dedication (*cough* psychotic fanaticism *cough*) has inspired me.

You know, speaking as someone with a book coming out in RL very shortly (non-fiction subject, reputable publisher) I just want to point out that 98% of what gets published, in any format, is not written by anyone with a PhD in the subject. Skepticism is good. Read everything with a healthy dose of doubt. But don't slag a wiki especially just because it's a collaborative resource.

The only argument against a wiki is that "anyone" can edit it. Meaning I can (I have in this case, actually) or you can. Mainly it's that you can. Someone thinks "damn, I could go edit that right now and I'm just some random idiot, so maybe what's there was written by some other random idiot!" And that may be true, but the same is true of any book you might go buy from your local bookstore. Random idiots can, and do, get published all the time.

So yeah, doubt is good, but don't hate on wikis. I actually think the community project has a special safeguard against stupidity that other media lack. A bad bit of info or lazy mistake can slip by even the best writer. But if enough people are checking it won't last in a wiki. As Peerless has said, it's got to be very subtle and very deliberate indeed to escape community notice. Just look at how fast incorrect assertions get corrected on a message forum. On a wiki, same thing.

    Peace.

Vilidius has hit the nail on the head. In two ways. My fanaticism for raw, pure, clean, MASSIVE amounts of information and numbers; and the true usefulness of wiki. (-:

    Default Great site!

I checked out your wiki and it looks great. One thing I noticed is the fact that you have the enhancement for Arcane Fluidity III listed as it is supposed to work, but in fact Drow that reach level 9 are not offered that enhancement. Even upon reaching level 10, they are not offered the enhancement. I've submitted a bug report to Turbine's QA about this and I expect they will fix it soon, but in the meantime, it doesn't work like that. I posted about it in the DDO general discussion forum here:

I just thought you might want to note that in there somewhere. You have produced a great aid to many DDO players, keep up the good work. Thanks!

That's the whole point of a wiki - you can go add that yourself! (-:

I just hang around promoting the place. The wonderful amount of information in it is no way attributable to me, no way! Thank THESE people for that (-:

    Talking New Character listing

Here's the post I just made in this thread:

    And here's the new listings!
    New Characters page
Expanded long-format categorization listing - shows all possible character categories, even those without characters submitted yet.
Flat character listing - be careful, this could get pretty long as lots of characters are added!

Feel free to add a page for each one of your characters - I myself haven't even figured out everything you could use such a page for! (-:
    Have a nice day.

Default LOVE it; look at it often

Wiki DDO is great. If anyone of you DDO geniuses (I cannot and will not ever be able to call myself one, I only play about 4-8 hours a week on average [/emote Kamandi paints a target on chest for easy witty forum backlash]) wants to help update it, they are always looking to improve the site.
