The helpful hints were really...er. helpful!

I want to do something a little different...I will perform my song, as described in /say with pretty colors and whatnot, but I would like to link a youtube file of me actually singing it too. Is this alowed, or should I even bother?

Thanks for the help, Miss Morah, halfling bard and mischief maker will be ready!

Default Please do! But it won't be judged.

You may do so. That would be super fantastic & I truly encourage you to do so; however, if I were to take it into consideration for jugding it would be unfair -- think of it this way, in real life, three bands enter a contest, but one of them has a music video. instead of being rated by their live performance they are evaluated by their music video. It's either an unfair advantage or an unfair disadvantage (if their video director sucked -- and we're certainly know that is far from the case for you ) but either way it is unfair.

I know many bands nowadays do also have video screens behind them to accentuate their performance, but in our case people will only have the chance to watch your performance or your video, and not both at the same time.

In other words, sorry but I won't be able to count that as part of your performance -- but by all means rock our friggin socks off! I would love to see the video & you most certainly should provide people with the link!!!

If you'd like to discuss it more with me, I am open to debate & persuasion -- you know how to PM me.

    Default The Alias Function!

Basically, think of the Alias as a variable. Whenever you type in the variable it will display whatever you have defined that variable to be equal to.

Alias is one of the "/ commands" and here is the basic jist of it: ... If you're atleast somewhat algebraically inclined, this is understood as ;<x> = <y>, where "x" is any shortcut you wish to represent the text defined as "y" -- /alias ;<x> <y>

Say I wanted to create an alias for my song "My Ham" I would first start of by typing the basic starting point of an alias action: /alias

I then type ";" & define what I want the Variable to be. We will call it myham1 (I put 1 because there will be many pieces to the whole song -- there is added convinence to this that I will share later)

So we have typed "/alias ;myham" & now we have to define what ";myham" is equivalent to, which would be the first verse of the song:

/alias ;myham1 When the city gates first opened / The Flow of ham was free / But greed consumed the coinlords / and Tasty Ham was banned

Push enter and you should get the message "Alias Added"

Now whenever you type ";myham" you will see the first verse of the song. So when you type "/say ;myham1." You will actually see the first verse of the song in general chat.

Now you can add the remainder of the song in suitable chunks. just change it from ;myham1 to ;myham2 and then ;myham3. Also if you want to include an emote instead of a lyric (such as describing the music or performance) you can write the alias as "/alias ;myham4 /e cranks it up to 11!" -- which makes it when I type "/say ;myham4" I actaully emote "Musicman cranks it up to 11!"

The bonus of naming your aliases like this is when you are performing you will be typing "/say ;myham1" and if you have you text box selected you can simply press the up arrow key and it re-displays the last message you submitted, which is ;myham1... Now all you have to do is delete 1 and type 2 and resubmit!

You can also remove aliases by typing: /alias remove ";myham". Also typing "/alias list" will show you the list of aliases you have
    defined.

If you have any further questions or need clarification on Aliases you can find them in the in game help panel. You may also PM me and I will do my best to help you understand.

Me thinks he just doesn't like my singing. bah! Now I just gotta sing it again to all you peoples. neh!

"Here's to you " - Written and performed by Jaggie Jutebox

    Here's to the Ranger
    that spotted the danger
And HERE's to the crusty old Rogue...
    Sly as a fox
and I hope he'd catch pox
For the sob ran away with our gold.

    Here's to the Fighter
    the "great dragon slayer"
    and here's to the Barbarian
that knew his killing blow was true
    But here's to the Bard
    the foolish young 'tard
the refuses to sing about you.

Here's to the Cleric (sorry... "battle cleric")
who "deserves" so much merit (*scoff*)
with never a heal spell to lend.
    But here's to the Ranger
    that spotted the danger
When our dear sweet Sorcy broke wind.

('woo! Talk about put'n a trog to shame!'
    'Sovereigns host, yer a stinker.')

    Here's to the wizard
who fought with someeeethings.... gizzard *blink blink*
and a book in either hand
    For has he lay dying
    I'm sure he was trying
to recall how sword IS truly mightier then pen.

('we all got more HP then you, do da!')

    But here's to the bard
    the silly young 'tard
that refuses to sing about you
    Sly as a fox
    and bound to catch pox
as the pally did run ... wait...wait wait

    stop?
'run me through'? That's not a good way to end this.. I mean.. wah- ack! Not the face!

    *flees the stage*

((I'd like to thank Grommit.. my angry little Pally for helping me with the performance bit at the end Thank you, sug. ^_^ )

    Default Morah's Song!

    Here Is Morah's Song,
Olladra help you all, because I actually sang a verse of it, and I will pin it here for anyone who feels brave and wants to hear the call of the thankless job that is BARDIC SINGING.....

    LINK TO THE SONG

    A Bard's Woes

"I am a bard who, buffs her party.... Never gets a DV...
I'm not complaining, I use scrolls liberally....
    AND EXTEND MY AOE!"

Staring... at the solid fog before me, and I'm wondering why the party..
Has chosen to ignore the fact that I am using crowd control...
It’s like they don't even see it.. Yet their standing two feet away from it, WHY DONT YOU JUST BACK UP A BIT...
Don’t make me waste my manaaaaa!"

*whispers* "Bring that aggro to the crown control... no one else can do it for you... only you can bring it in.
no one else... no one else, can stop this party wipe now!
you mana sponges are unnerving, I wish you all would stop that zerging!
this fight ends, we will win.. When we begiiiiin... Working together...."

sings "I respect your AC, and your DPS, you're weapons are best..."
I bet you think that, my cure wands come free
....DO YOU THINK PLAT GROWS ON TREES!!

staring, at the disco ball before me...
and I'm wondering why the party..
has chosen to ignore the fact that I am using crowd control!
It’s like they don't even see it.. Yet their standing two feet away from it, WHY DONT YOU JUST BACK UP A BIT...
Don’t make me waste my manaaaaa!

*whispers* "bring that aggro to the crown control...
let someone else get on the kill count, check your ego at the door....
    > no one else... no one else, can stop this party wipe now!
you mana sponges are unnerving, I wish you all would stop that zerging!
this fight ends, we will win.. when we begiiiin.. working together....

Thank you, Musicman, for once again hosting such a wonderful event. Also, thank you for everyone the came by and watched the participants as we performed for you. Such as event is what bards live for.

    My prose was as follows:

    -------------

    The Hunter

How long now have I loved you
How long have you kept yourself from me
    Stealthy, like a black cat
Slinking through the jungles of horizons
Crying out with a wanton roar

    I am the hunter
    You cannot escape me
I am armed with love like a bow
Desire like arrows in a quiver
Passion is the dagger on my thigh
And my heart beats its war-cry in my breast

    Look into my eyes
I would rather have you come to me willingly
Would rather that you open your arms to me
Beckon me with a loving smile
And touch me with desire in your fingertips

    I will have you
Will ye or nill ye, you will be mine
It was ordained by the gods
And you haven't strength nor guile to defeat me
I have awaited all my life for this moment
When you realize that you were made to be mine

    -------------

    Yay!

Yriel took White Rabbit by Jefferson Airplane and made it her own.

    WHY CLERIC
    One spell makes you stronger
    And one spell casts fireball
And the ones that bards will show you
    Can hold everything in thrall
    Go ask Cleric,
    About cometfall

And if you go chasing mephits
And you know you're going to fall
Tell 'em intrepid band of giant killers
    Have given you the call
    Recall Cleric
    When health points fall

    When tanks in the party
Get up and tell you where to go
And you've just had some kind of potion
Cuz your mana is running low
    Go ask Cleric
    DVs she'll throw

    When casters and the tankers
    Have fallen sloppy dead
And the Ranger is running backwards
And the vorpal's cut off your head
    Remember what the trapsmith said:

    "RAISE THE DEAD!
    RAISE THE DEAD!"

A big congrats to all the winners. It was a great show.

Here be the little poem I wrote for my performance.

I could have been a ranger
if my arrow would strike true
    instead it's in the mire
and t'was my bow that flew

Could learn the feats of fighter
    if my armour didn't crack
instead I've rust monsters chasing me
    and nothing for my back!

    Maybe my hand at wizardry
if I could keep my spells in check
    instead they all fail miserably
and we all cry 'Hit the deck!'

    Perhaps the call of Paladin
if my faith would not waver
instead i hung out with you lugs
and got called out on misbehaver

Suppose nothing wrong with the ways of rogue
    if the clerics didn't mind
instead I burnt up in a trap
and they left my corpse behind

Wunder if I could be a barbarian monk
it there alignment didn't have a say
instead I guess I'll play the bard
and play each class each day.

Most humbleness of apologies. Real life put my DDO obsession in the back seat.

Thanks Musicman for hosting the best event on the server. As always, the entertainment rocked and I had a great time.

The Speed of Zergers (Sung to Simon & Garfunkel's The Sound of Silence)

    Hello dungeon, my old friend
I've come to loot your chests again
You hide no treasure that's so secure
That my party can't farm to procure
But I'm haunted by mem'ries of days of yore
    When I'd explore
    Before the speed of zergers.

    Once Waterworks I walked alone
The Harbor then to me unknown
My PUG ran off as in a race
While I bashed barrels with my starter mace
When my heart was stopped by the flash of a lightning bolt
    Cast by a kobold
I cursed the speed of zergers.

In all the LFMs I joined
    They wanted only haste deployed
    People entered quests repeatedly
People died in the traps needlessly
People looted chests but I had no clue where
    No one cared
To stop the speed of zergers.

    "Nub," my party leader said,
    "Zerging like a virus spreads
Lern 2 zerg or b history
    Lern 2 zerg & it'll rain xp
So embrace teh zerging power gamer!!!111!"
And so I became a zerger.

I hit level cap and raided
    Got my green-steel all upgraded
All the quests seemed so boring
    All because I stopped exploring
And my mind said "The worlds of the devs are wasted on the zerging brutes"
All they want is more loot
And to run with the speed of zergers.

I had a blast too, folks. I also rediscovered how much fun the Shadowwalk spell can be at parties Here's my song, plus a bonus song.

"Drow Sorceress" (Sung to "Lady in Red" by Chris Deburgh. Link: YouTube video

I've never seen you looking so lovely as you did tonight
I've never seen fireballs so bright. Mmm hmm hmm hmm.
I've never seen so many foes fall to your finger of death.
Your hold spells stopped their breath, till there were none left.
I have never seen that robe you're wearing
Or the way your circlet matches your eyes. I have been blind

Drow sor-cer-essssss! She's questing with me. On elite.
There's no need for heals, it's just you and me, and our potency
But I hardly know this beauty by my side
I'll never forget, the spells you cast tonight

I've never seen you looking so gorgeous as you did tonight
I've never seen a fireball so bright. You were amazing
I've never seen so many people want to join your groups
And when you turned and gave me a hug, It took my breath away
I have never had such a feeling
Such a feeling of complete and utter love, as I do tonight

Drow sor-cer-essssss! She's questing with me. On elite.
There's no need for heals, it's just you and me, and our potency
But I hardly know this beauty by my side
I'll never forget, the spells you cast tonight
I never will forget, the spells you cast tonight

    Drow sor-cer-essssss
    Drow sor-cer-essssss
    Drow sor-cer-essssss
    Who hasn't spoken yet...

    *whisper*Please don't be a guy

I didn't perform this next song for various reasons, but I thought I'd still share it with you.

"Heal" (Sung to "Help" by the Beatles. Link: YouTube link)

    Heal, I need some healing,
    Heal, not just wand healing,
Heal, you know I need some cleric heals!

When I was younger, so much younger than today,
I never needed anybody's help in any way.
But now those days are gone, I'm not so self-sufficient,
Now I find I'm taking damage, like never before.

Heal me if you can, I'm going down
And I do appreciate you being round.
Heal me, get me back up off the ground,
Won't you please, please heal me.

And now my style has changed in oh so many ways,
My independence seems to vanish in the haze.
But every now and then I feel so insecure,
when the battle cleric leaves me on the floor.

Heal me if you can, I'm going down
And I do appreciate you being round.
Heal me, get me back up off the ground,
Won't you please, please heal me.

When I was younger, so much younger than today,
I never needed anybody's help in any way.
But now those days are gone, I'm not so self-sufficient,
Now I find I'm taking damage, like never before.

Heal me if you can, I'm going down
And I do appreciate you being round.
Heal me, get me back up off the ground,
Won't you please, please heal me, heal me, heal me, oooh.

Reposted from the original thread. Anyone planning on participating that hasn't already posted, please drop me a note either in a PM or in a post to let me know you plan on playing a song. I don't know if I'll have enough sweets to hand out ala Musicman, but I'll try to find something interesting for everyone

    BATTLE OF THE BARDS

Hosted by those wonderfully wacky bards, Freeman(I promise to wear clothes this time) and Jaggie(Tuned, oiled, and ready to rock!) Prizes will be awarded, partly based on talent at composing songs and partly based on whatever whim strikes us. Also, I'll also be giving out a "Worst Dressed" award for the ugliest outfit worn by a participant.(Of course, you still have to beat some of the ones I've got stashed in a closet somewhere)

Join us for a fun-filled evening, as we finally make use of that little know bard skill: Party! Drinks will be consumed, songs will be sung, legends will be born, and dwarves will be tossed. Remember: If you aren't wanted by the Coin Lords the next morning, the party wasn't a success

Our date and time will be August 28th at 9:00pm EDT. Stay tuned for further notices.(Tolero, we need access to the original BotB thread!) Also, we'll be following the same rules as the previous BotBs, so check the original thread for rules/suggestions/help.
