Default Can a Bladeforged with a Quarterstaff as a favored Weapon?

I like using Quarterstaffs and want to run another Bladeforged Paladin life.

The Knight of the Chalice has some nice benefits for Favored Weapons, would the Search the Soul feat allow a Bladeforged to switch deity from Lord of Blades to Aureon?

No, Bladeforged can only follow the Lord of Blades, sorry.
We don't only build for the builds that exist.

Is there any way for a Bladeforged Paladin to treat the Spear of the Mournlands as a favored weapon, then?

If not, doesn't that seem a bit "odd"?

Yes, it’s odd that the Lord of Blades’ weapon can’t be used as a favored weapon by Bladeforged.

The spear that is a quarterstaff?
Maybe this item could have the special property to work as a favored weapon for Lord of Blades followers?
Another good way I see would be the Book of War in Divine Crusader, add quarter staffs here would be possible.

It just means he's self-loathing. He also commutes to work on a tricycle. He hates every minute of it.

I'm going to have to concur with the group on this. You can't tell the follower of the LoB that they don't get bonuses for being faithful to him when they use his preferred weapon. The needs to be a way in the follower feat chain or tied to the weapon to unlock at least this staff to BF.

I'm certainly not telling any follower of the Lord of Blades that they don't get bonuses for being faithful to him when they use his preferred weapon.

I only said Bladeforged can only follow the Lord of Blades, which is what was asked.

Since they added the ability to swap your deity for most Divines, I've often wondered why certain iconics need to be perma-locked into certain deities.

If you want to start them out with their Deity pre-selected at L1, that's 100% fine. But just like we can take that first "level" and either follow along the "pre-set" path for that build or take it in a direction all our own...I dont see why our Iconic characters cant start in one Church and then decide to switch to a different one (since that's something that's supported now).

In other words, if we pay the opportunity cost for the Deity feat change same as any other race, I think Iconics should be allowed to swap to any realm-appropriate deity.

This is especially pertinent since the two Divine Iconics are both hard-locked into one deity choice forever, when part of the point of Divine builds is having different deities with different bonuses to build around. You'd see a heck of a lot more Morninglord Warpriests if you could swap them into Silvanus maul builds. Or Bladeforged in Aureon or Vol VKF - especially since Favored Weapon: Greatsword is entirely redundant for a Paladin that gets it in KotC anyway.

My guess is this was dictated to Turbine/SSG by WotC.

Even though you may have some legit arguments, you're wasting your breath articulating them here.

I think your time would be better spent protesting to SSG's D&D masters - Wizards of the Coast.

Are the bonuses a secret to Bladeforged that use it?

one thing that always disappoints me is that some
class restrictions should be bypass-able with a feat.
    Sometimes based on race.
Not all of them, some of them.

    Favored weapon bypass - yes
Dwarves should be able to take a feat to allow mithril to not break a druid oath (just dwarves)
You should be allowed to use a feat to open restricted skills like disable device (still costs 2 points per level and the feat only 'opens' it)
If a monk already has opened whirling steel, he/she should be able to spent more feats to extend that to other bladed weapons.
You should be able to spend feats to open spell slots or create new ones - fighter wants a lvl 1 cleric spell slot (for CLW) fine, use a feat (still need to find a way to get spell points) (item?)
    and so on.

Feats are few and 'usually' limited ... give us some flexibility choices.

They don't see anything on the weapon other than the circled text. They also get no obvious additional indications of any secrets anywhere else.

That would be odd, wouldn't it. If only there were some indicator that it had some sort of special effect that would allow a Bladeforged or Warforged to use it anyway... maybe an effect that only shows up when held by a Bladeforged or Warforged, perhaps featuring some words from the Lord of Blades himself, where he talks about granting you a blessing and tells you to wield his spear as if it were your own? Maybe it'd even be colored a bright purple so people wouldn't miss it?

Ah well, wishful thinking I suppose.

See the JPG immediately above your post.

What does it mean, exactly? That it is a favored weapon for BF? It's not clear.

Sounds to me like the Lord of Blades respects you, and would like you to use his weapon as if it were your own, given that he recognizes you as his follower. I'd be proud, I hear he's a really standoffish guy.

The Book of War: Wrath of the Divine ability from Divine Crusader gives you a buff in your bar if you're wielding a favored weapon, so see if you can have that as a bladeforged holding the spear? (There are other abilities that only work with favored weapons and are visible, but this seems simplest to test.)
