Default Seeking Current Sword and Board New Player Solo Build

    Good evening DDO Forums.

I'm looking for a build to run Paladin solo with sword and board. I'm a returning player with 32 point builds and that's about it. I am running VIP.

I really don't know much about about D&D I primarily know I enjoy tanking in almost every game I've played and keeping enemies off of others. But since I don't have others, I'd likely enjoy just pushing back the tides of evil from the handle side of the wall on my forearm.

I was reading a build in the link above and it's from 2011. I'm not certain it's valid anymore. There is a lot of theory crafting in that thread and it seems much of it has changed.

I'd prefer a smaller race but really whichever works. Or evidently a dragon born because I was looking at making one to see what I would think, and they look amazing.

I apologize if I'm seeming a bit blunt, I am really just uncertain what I expect other than the idea of slowly pushing back the tide. Any help in understanding the build would be greatly appreciated.

    Thank you.

    Thumbs up

    Welcome back!

I think there would certainly be some changes since 2011. The most recent update (45) even had some significant changes to Paladin's offensive enhancement tree Knight of the Chalice.

I just recently finished a life as this build:
    https://www.ddo.com/forums/showthrea...or-all-seasons

He's a rather thorough builder and lists some ideas for how this build can be played/gear/options for adjusting. I find his accompanying videos to be really helpful.
There's tons of flexibility when it comes to which race you'd like to be and which weapons you'd prefer to use mainly. Some options are stronger (dragonborn definitely has some upsides for a paladin).

As far as understanding the build, it may be helpful to know that tanks really come into their strength in higher levels and harder difficulties as mobs have increased health and need to be locked down by someone who can take some hits. In the early game the bad guys are often dead before tanking hits is necessary.

Couple more builds if you're looking for some more input:

This is exactly what I am looking for! I think I will post in his thread and see what order the enhancements should be. I doubt it's in the order listed.
I saw this build last night and I was kind of cobbling together a character based of it. I honestly got a little confused at the skill point portions but I'll poke by his thread and see if I can pick his brain a little

Thank you for taking the time to point this one out! Greatly appreciated.
