    Default Why the boarding pass nerf?

    I know it was mentioned in the release notes, but what was the logic behind it? the Sharn boarding Pass had been really convenient, why did they have to nerf it so there's a long delay now?

    1) This is not a nerf, it's a slight delay in casting.
    2) It was changed because people on the hardcore server were using the instant activation as a get-out-of-death card.

    Don't be disingenuous. It's not a slight delay. It went from instantaneous to a 15 second-ish activation. On top of that, we were told the induction times would be cut in half, but it seems like it doubled.

    That doesn't seem right to me. All of the activation times were meant to be cut from 10 seconds to 4 - are you actually seeing 15 seconds of delay?

    I am not being disingenuous. 15 seconds for the activation is a slight delay. Minor. Insignificant...unless you were using the boarding pass for more than it was intended - like leaving combat in a hurry to avoid dying.

    15 seconds of cast time is far less than running across 3 zones to get there. The teleport items are still hugely convenient.

    It's closer to 8 or 9 seconds.

    it takes about 4 or 5 sec for the bar to fill saying preparing. Another 4 or 5 after its filled to actually cast

    Hmmm...

    Now that you mention that, since update every time I use search or open lock/disable trap, character does animation and progress bar appears only few seconds later.

    Anything to do with 64bit client? In another post it is mentioned that some clickies like lay on hands takes longer.

    It happens 32 or 64 bit client. Passport (Boarding Pass) to Sharn takes 4s for induction to complete, then around 6-8s for an animation to complete before the teleport happens.

    I used a stop watch to time it. With the Boarding Pass, from activation to loading screen, the time is ~9 sec. The bar fills in ~5 seconds but then a casting animation plays that takes ~4 seconds. The Bottle of Mist is much shorter. It takes ~4.5 seconds total from activation to load screen. There is no additional casting animation. I wasn't testing on a character with the Eveningstar Key. I'll edit my post and add that time later.

    Because now that enough people have paid through the nose for the premium expansion and enough time has passed they can nerf it.

    Anyone who was going to pay $130 for a $50 expansion has done so by now. Once devs know no one else is buying them they can restore balance to the game and eliminate people using them for a fast escape.

    Losing a get-out-of-death-card is a pretty big nerf.

    I'm getting the same as everybody else. 4-5 seconds of cast bar, but then I'm still waving my arms around for a few more seconds before anything happens.

    Again, only really a good strategy on HCL. Not sure why they couldn't just change it there.

    If the goal is to *really* split hairs, it isn't a nerf. Nerfing only happens to things that are overpowered and, intrinsically, many players will complain that it shouldn't have been adjusted at all because reason reason blah blah. The time was adjusted up to be appropriate and similar to every single other item like it in the game.

    Here's a pro-tip : if you get a thing that has a similar affect to other things but this thing is slightly different in a way that makes it ridiculously and enormously better in ways that trivialize content or remove challenge and such.. it's probably not intended. If you spend money specifically to get it you can only blame yourself when it is *fixed*, not nerfed.

    It was an obvious exploit. I don't really care, I never have and never will play hardcore. I also don't have a boarding pass.

    But it's not a nerf. It's a bug fix.
