Default Epic Voice of the Master

This item as in all Minor Artifacts has its 1st slot for free. It states XP for next slot is 2000 BUT you can not feed it past 1000 so do not bother feeding it as you will waste 1000 as you already have the 1st slot

I think they said before that not all Artifacts will have same amount of Slots available to them. Considering the Epic Voice is BTA and ML20, it's a fair deal really considering all the other oens are 29.

But yeah, definitely watch out for that, that this Artifact doesn't go beyond a certain points. :: edit :: And is pointless to do so as MistaMagic said, considering how powerful it is right now as well.

Honestly they should just put some indicator of the total maximum number of slots an artifact takes.

That is how it was presented by the Dev on the Lama forums as far as I recall. It seems WAI that it just has the one slot - but not that you can feed it with no possible gain.

Hang on. How would it devalue the item?

If we look at what it offers:

It's ML 20, and automatically has 1 slot open already. Every other non Weapon Sentient Item is ML29 (~7 Million XP away).

It's in the Trinket Slot, the ONLY Trinket with a Sentient Slot open. And the Trinket Slot where most people leave in a Heroic Voice of the Master or its equivalent anyway (as often there isn't a better item out there for the slot at Level 20) at that level range.

It's BTA. You can give it to anyone and they'll have it. You can't with other Artifacts.

    Genuinely wondering.

Is it bugged/buggy by allowing players to feed to much to it? Sure. But devalue? I'd like to understand your view of why it devalues it.

I have to admit i got burned, wasted 1000 sentientXP on my EVotM. I really think if the sxp isnt going to do anything you should not be able to feed it.

I dont mind the thing having only 1 filigree but I want my SXP back!

Maybe 2000sxp for a second filigree slot would be too good or something, but if thats the case then the item should not be able to consume anything.

At 20, trinket slot is one of the most used slots for cannith crafting for a lot of people I know. I personally run something very similar to what the trinket offers - 38 heal amp, 30 striding, 55 insightful devotion. Despite having another slot for filigree sets, I think I would get better value from my cc trinket. Also, master's gift >>>> running VoM

I'm afraid, you've missed the point that was in discussion there.

The poster I was replying to was saying that the Voice of the Master only has ONE Filigree slot and this "devalues" it.

I pointed out that at Level 20, and being in a Trinket slot, to which is there is no other Artifact that takes this slot, with the XP bonus and other abilities, makes it stand out, since all other artifacts are ML29. And queried about how this would "devalue" it, when it stands out all on its own and at a much reduced level as well.

So, specifically - we were talking about the Filigree slot on a Trinket, which no other Trinket has, so whilst there is plenty of completition for Trinket slot usage, they don't really qualify for discussion over this point since they don't have any Filigree slots as well.

Don't think I missed the point whatsoever. I can see where you're coming from in that it's a unique case where it's an artifact available at level 20 as a trinket, but that doesn't mean it's particularly better, just different.

I agree that only having 1 filigree slot devalues it because it would be disadvantageous to take this over another trinket, even with another filigree. Additionally, the xp bonus on the item is completely irrelevant in how "powerful" the item is, so I'm not quite sure why you keep bringing it up.

Actually, I do believe you have missed the point. Not entirely, but missed it by a bit.

You cannot compare something to something else where it does not have the same attributes in common. The main attribute here that was raised? The "One" Filigree slot. And from there, I asked, why it being only one slot devalues it as it is? One slot. Not what other attributes it has (Luck, XP Bonus, whatnot), or what alternatives there are (because there is no other alternative for a level 20 Artifact, or a Artifact Trinket for a direct comparison), or what is more powerful, best in slot (for a Trinket item), etc (which you have provided).

So given that the only other Artifacts we have are all ML29 and Three Slots (No ML20 Artifacts). And that there is no Trinket Artifact yet either. What comparison are we even using to say that the One Filigree Slot "devalues" it as an Artifact?

As a Trinket, sure, loads of alternatives, but as an Artifact?

It's absolutely the best artifact in the game from levels 20-28.

If you look at is as a stop gap from your jewel having 60k sxp vs100k sxp it will allow you to have 8 filigree set vs 7 with a very minimal invest

You can get better trinkets at that level by crafting, and thats about the only way i can think of.

My problem is that i lost 1000sxp - yeah i could have found out about it here, but i dont think its unreasonable for me to see the item and start feeding it stuff. It should not be able to eat anything if it cant grow. Your just asking to **** off players.

First off, I wrote "..devalues it IN MY OPINION.." which means that "for me" it's worth less than expected at first glance.

I did not venture to Lamania so I did not know that it is supposed to have only 1 Slot, since it also says "XP for next Slot 2000".
Also some times items etc. get changed after the last preview.

Now let's get to the effects: (again this is just my opinion and playstyle/equipment setup)

    - +5% XP. Since I want the 5% even for optionals in quests I always use a Masters Gift Augment somewhere.

    - +30% Striding. I equip the Quiver of Alacrity from Level 1-30 most of the time. Otherwise Heroic Flightfoot Greaves, Cannith Boots of Propulsion or the Blackfeather Boots from Watch your Step in KotB.

    - +3 Luck. Either I slot the +2 Luck Augment or quite often wear the ML20 Ring of the Buccaneer with +3 Luck also.

This leaves me with an Item with 3 Augment Slots and 1 Filigree Slot. The other effects are FOR ME redundant most of the time.

Most other ML 20 Augments dont offer much imo. The better ones are 24/25 but thereby raise the ML.

Better Items for a Trinket at Level 20 or in this case 21 would be (imo again):
Stone Heart Trinket: 25% Miss Chance, +8 Spell Saves, +4 Insightful Constitution
Serrated Arrowhead: Ghostly vs. Incorporeal and 10% Miss Chance, +15 to Attack, Seeker +10 and Crippling
Both have a Blue Augment Slot as well

So now I have to see how much just 1 extra Filigree Slot and 2 Augment Slots would help me over the other mentioned Trinkets.

If this had 3 Filigree slots it would (imo) surpass the others, but just 1 makes it not worthwhile for ME.

That it failed to mention it would not be upgradeable is small blow in the face to those who tried that, but since I don't have limitless Sentient XP Stones lying around this did not affect me personally. I would be quite mad though if I had wasted it.

I hope you get now why it devalues it for ME. For 1 Filigree Slot im not gonna pass up way better effects, for three it possibly would have been worth it.

    Cheers Aeronn

P.S. Sorry for the late reply.
P.P.S. The ME etc. in bold is just to make clear that I'm only expressing my opinion and not generalizing it for everyone

No worries, just wanted to make sure that it was with regards to your own situation, and not general, because your post was able to be read both ways but leaned towards in general rather than on a personal basis.

Yeah, I was over on Lamannia, and although apparently it was discussed there, I never saw it, and was a surprise when I first heard about it on Live. Didn't even notice that it was an Artifact until players complained of the Sentient XP not able to progress after a certain point.
