    Default U45 Preview 2: Named Loot

    Everything seen on the preview server, Lamannia, is not final and is subject to change or removal before live release.

    Hey, all! With the release of Update 45 will be revamped versions of the named loot from Catacombs and Delera's Tomb. In preview 1 I experimented with not writing out and posting full loot details on the forums like we'd been doing for the past 3-4 years. The reasons for this were:

    • Pretty much every preview cycle the loot thread gets the most traffic and feedback. Yall really like to look at and talk about new loot. I worry, however, that this typically eclipses other features which we (especially in this update's case) want input on. I wanted to see whether telling players that they would need to log onto lamannia to see the loot would drive traffic into actual game and, while there, people would be naturally inclined to poke around in client at other features and maybe notice things to give us feedback on.
    • A loot layout can pretty much entirely be theorycrafted on by just looking at the layout and values. This means the typical full forums listing gives little incentive to actually log into client. Not logging into client means a person can only provide feedback and can not stumble across the other half of why we run previews: finding bugs.
    • Frankly, the time it takes to write the loot preview thread is atleast as long if not longer than writing the rest of the preview release notes. This thread alone took over 4 hours of data entry to complete. This is time I don't always comfortably have in the lead up to a preview if things are coming in hot.


    Experimenting to see if I could both remove that portion of workload from a preview cycle while also improving the feedback for other features and bug finding in the loot seemed like a worthwhile endeavor. And, honestly, it seems to have accomplished a lot of those goals. Preview 1 saw a TON of in client traffic and all of the feature threads saw a TON of feedback (even more than I is typical for a systems heavy/content light preview). That said, you all made it clear how much you didn't like this experiment. So, below you will find a loot list for preview 2 of this update. This doesn't mean I've concluded that we will continue to provide full loot details on the forums in future previews. I'm still evaluating but I understand the annoyance and want to find a way to make this work the best it can to meet the goals of both you guys and us internally.

    So, after that rambling here is the U45 Preview 2 Loot (changes from preview 1 haven't been called out in turqoise because there wasn't a preview 1 thread to alter):

    Thx for laying it out here, any reason why both the heroic and the epic versions of the Proof against XXX show the same numbers?

    if it helps, it so happens i write spreadsheets that turn plain text input into forum formatting, if you can send me whatever the loot table input was you pulled from the code i'm certain i can send you back a spreadsheet that streamlines that part of the process

    Not sure if the dev team gets around to reading all these, but might I suggest having one of your coders create a tool that formats the item stats into the way you typically present them on the forum. It would probably take a couple days of coding time up front to set up but you would save a lot of man hours later if you just have to drag and drop some code and have it spit out pre-formatted text ready to copy to the forum.

    Thanks for writing this all up Could you not automate it a bit? It seems like it ought to be fairly straightforward to generate a forum entry for an item from like your excel or wherever you store the temp data.

    For clarity's sake, I assume that Unholy Blight Clicky should be epic and not a double-clicky for the heroic version?

    Can we please get an epic version of the Deleras "Coronach" Rune Arm?

    Also with the Catacombs "Epic Robe of the Duality" can it get Arcane Augmentation +2? Not sure by the writing if it is, but it wasn't last Lammania. As a lvl 23 item it should at least be on the progression scale that heroic Sharn is on.

    Is there any chance of finally getting a docent for the Profane Experiment set in this update? Or is the expectation that the new Alchemist class just simply cannot use two of the game's races (Warforged/Bladeforged) and use their class-specific set? It seems strange that we are forced to play a race we don't prefer if we want to play the new class and use its best three items in the game at the moment.

    I understand why you guys want players to actually log onto lamannia, but some players just aren't going to do that. With that in mind, for future lamannia previews would it be any easier/less time consuming on your end to just post screen shots of the item descriptions as opposed to the big write up? Just a thought.

    I was viewing the items from discord where someone nice posted screenshots of all items. It is far easier to compare and have a proper overview if they are listed in 1 thread or i have all screenshots in 1 place.
    I can't spend time on Lam from Tuesdays to Thursdays because I have very little playtime during the week. I would love a weekend for testing but you shot that suggestion down several times.

    2 reasons out of ? why I don't go on Lam anymore to test for you.

    Still no new loot pieces with healer's bounty?

    So I am still stuck with my options being level 20 or lower cannith challenge heavy armor, a shield, or a hard to acquire raid helm that improves people's desire to want to kill me when equipped....... -_-

    We need more healer's bounty options!

    An orb with legendary affirmation and healer's bounty and whatever else you've want to put on it would be great!

    Can you please clarify what is Good Luck +17%? Historically it's just a flat 1-2 value for an integer luck bonus to skills and saves. Is it going to be this significantly better or is this a typo?

    Default Candlelight

    1) Only the Heroic version is craftable

    2) The LVL:13 Greater Radiant Rune Arm with Light Spirals from the store can be crafted and as such can have 130 Radiance compaired to 122 on the Epic Candlelight. Both Items are Charge Tier IV and have Light III. I can also craft on it 13% Radiance Lore which far outweighs the epic Candlelight as TBH Guards are a not worth anything and False Life can be obtained nearly everywhere.

    Can you please re-think this epic item as it is a waste of space the way it stands

    Some people have already made good suggestions, but I think most of us would agree that we'd rather have the data even in just raw-dump form that we could then format. Or just post screenshots of the tooltips like the one guy did last time. We just want the info, we dont need it to look pretty.

    Also I dont think its zero-sum...I think that loot gets theorycrafted more simply because it IS so theory-craftable. But I think the theorycraft is useful feedback and helps to narrow down practical testing. Suggesting people ARENT going onto Lama just because they're too busy posting on the forums, I dont believe that. I know personally I'll participate in forum discussions because I cant log into Lama for whatever reason - so that's not costing you practical feedback.

    I think the ultimate result of theorycraft is you get excited to go put your theories to actual test when you log into Lama, so if anything having the theorycraft up early might help drive MORE practical testing.

    Also, like I've mentioned elsewhere: the biggest impediment to getting broad, edge-case-discovering testing is only having Lama open 48 hours in the middle of the week. The first thing everyone's going to do is try to find and refine the new meta for when it goes Live, doing all the things the theorycraft suggests we do - which is useful, but 2 days doesnt allow enough time for people to do that and then just go mess around with other stuff and find those weird interactions that no one was expecting.

    The notes are correct. The Epic variant replaces the Wizardry with the attributes.

    Could do this, however, screenshots don't allow for me to easily make edits to display what the item should be only what it currently is in the preview build. Basically, makes it seem like any bugs on the item are intended.
