Thread: The Feywild

    Default The Feywild

I'm not that familiar with The Feywild, the setting for DDO's upcoming 5th expansion. Geek and Sundry has an article on this plane which I read over just now.

    https://geekandsundry.com/five-facts...t-the-feywild/

No word on The Isle of Dread in the Producer's Letter. There must be a delay for technical or art resource reasons.

I hope its beautiful and magical with a kaleidoscope of rich colors and architecture and landscaping that evoke both whimsy and mystery.

    I also hope we see:
    Fairy Dragons
    Unicorns
    Blink Dogs

maybe revamped pixies/sprites with more variation than the ones in the Illusionarium.
Blood Scented Axe Body Spray (Thelanis)
    Aelonwy - Wydavir - Metaluscious - Aertimys - Aelyrra - Kaelaria - Lunaura - Aelurawynn - Saurscha - Crystalorn - Aurvaeyn - Vaelyns - Wyllowynd

I am personally glad folks will have new stuff to talk about.
    Pleasant stuff.

Feywild - wow, so many ways to go with it.

They could just make it it's own thing (new layout)
or make it a magical/nature 'mirror' of stormreach.
It is a wide open canvas.

HCL is shifting in the infernal direction.
curious, maybe a similar >flavor< as NWO but
different. It makes you wonder if that was the plan but
to keep it under wraps they used a 'generic' overseer.

The NWO version is similar to HCL in that the story goes
they are pitting adventurers against creatures in an arena like battle
    to fine the strongest.

HCL is basically the same thing, find the strongest (still living) players.
That is why you fall off the board if you die. Seemed like an odd
    choice at the time.

Shifters sound kinda like what druids do but as a racial ability.

For the Developers reading this -- I STILL want a druidic scroll vendor in the portable hole.
    ...long over due.

Levels after 30... power creep but I really don't see that ever stopping.
    meh.... already over it.

Some new adventure stuff located in the hills ...... ok

and something under wraps ... also curious.
lol why tell us there is something you won't tell us?
    hmm.. ok

    nothing bad-per-say
    I am ok with it.
not that it matters what I think.

    PEACE

Cool, we are going to open a portal to Lord of the Rings Online!

(Now THAT would be a fantastic/epic crossover!)

I'm just super glad they aren't doing another dark and miserable type setting.
Shadowfell, Underdark, Ravenloft (albeit done well)... all kinda bleak.
I'm all for a new, colourful, unique kinda magical/naturalistic place.

Hopeful they go above and beyound with the surrealism of the place...
But what I expect is another annoying Shadowfell filter.
Of Course I can CC - Death is a form of CC.
My other character is a triple everything completionist.

Well, if that's the case... expect some copy-paste content. Again.

That is probably why SSG picked the Feywild setting, as three out of the previous four expansions have been in dark, gloomy environments.

This is crazy, really. A fifth expansion?!? Here's hoping we eventually get an Astral Plane expansion with Githyanki. We have to get unicorns (with a unicorn cosmetic pet) as part of the Feywild expansion.

Cocamajobo clarified that Isles of Dread has been sidelined for the time being:

(it is a shame - I was really looking forward to a dinosaur-riding talenta plains halfling iconic, and also the prehistoric environment of Isle of Dread) .. I had assumed that they had done the little dinosaurs in the sharn expansion as a teaser to Isle of Dread, but it looks like we are heading off into a different direction.

i am excited about Feywild though. I would really like to see SSG's aesthetic interpretation of the Feywild - Neverwinter has had their Feywild campaign setting for a while.

The Feywild has great possibilities for new Mounts - especially a unicorn mount (but only "unsullied" player characters can ride them).

The remaining Fey creatures missing from DDO can also be introduced with the Feywild expansion: sprites (already seen in Partycrashers but not fully developed), pixies, and even (stag) centaurs!

I forgot about this monster: Fomorian Giants! Fomorians are the Feywild's "dark reflections of the massive titans" wielding magical powers in the Feydark.

Anything except pixies and sprites please. I would like to see all other points you mentioned. Do you know where DDO will go with a focus like that ? I can understand why Peterpan fans love Tinkerbell fantasy. The same reason with Malicia but please think about the disaster that will drag the entire game.

DDO was allways with funny jokes at quests and npcs but the setting was never pinky fairy land. That was the right choice. DDO fantasy allways carried this life is not a theme park approach at its fantasy settings.

Anyhow there can still be another route starting from so called pixie land to the ugly truth behind the stage. (shrugs)

I had thought Feywild was similar to Shadowfell; whereas Shadowfell is dark, Feywild is colorful.
Same template basically only bright and cheery.

    I wouldn't mind a Cyclops creature companion.

Maybe this will open the gates to SIGIL. More planar worlds await.
    THANK YOU SO MUCH

Heh yeah that was my first thought too - its the DDO Lothlorien expansion

I'd actually be really OK if they went with that artistic direction - and doubtless recycled some LOTRO art assets too

Just say no to Blink Dogs. 4 legged phase spiders that can trip you? NO!
