Default Hard Core - The next Level

The first HardCore event was a serious challenge and serious fun.

SSG has stated an intent to repeat it sometime next year. I think they should kick it up a notch.

For the next event, in addition to standing restrictions, they should disable all universal trees.

The programming tweak might be as simple as blanking out the first core enhancement for each tree.

the only real change we need for the next event is to make it either 30 or 60 days.

    Stop this short time request!!!!!!!
I played this server the whole time and still didn’t make my goals.
I need this server up full time NOT SHORTER TIMES.

For those of us who have real lives and cannot play full time in our moms basement, please keep the 90 days or longer

I have two kids and a full time job.

...and I also like seeing the regular servers have a real population instead of being the ghost town they were for 3 months.

    I would also suggest:
    - no shared bank at all so every character starts with nothing.
    - no items from purchased packs in inventory (the MotU/Sharn/etc goods) - totally empty inventory at character creation, no panic teleport to sharn for people
    - turn off the free daily/weekly rolls.
    - no guilds, or at least no airship amenities at all (okay, maybe the shifter for quicker access to areas. That's it though).
    - no entering quests over base level, period. Forget the four levels over quest nonsense.

    Default Too Much Too Soon

Interesting restrictions, but maybe a bit much for first experiment.

My idea is to make each successive event a little more challenging.

Doing away with the dice rolls would make sense if Premium players were allowed in.

Doing away the the shared bank is radical, maybe for event number eleven or so.

No ships ain't gonna happen, lots of astrals spent there.

I was thinking for the third event, eliminate classes that must be purchased (arti, druid, fvs, monk, warlock)

After that, races that must be purchased, which leaves only human, dwarf, elf, halfling, and drow (earned)

Maybe not all classes/races would be eliminated at once. Work backwards by release, perhaps.

Understand, I am not lobbying for this, only suggesting that a progressive challenge would be very interesting.

I would only change two things:

    1. No ship buffs
    2. Max level base quest + 2

This would up the difficulty significantly.

A permadeath guild I once tried had the smallest wooden ship with (iirc) bank/auction/mail and farsender/teleportal with bartender and chests in the hold. But, I don't expect to see any limitations on ships for HC.

The max level thing might fly, the coding is there (and debugged), maybe only change the number.

After thinking about it, it might be difficult to eliminate a class. Not only would you have to tweak the creation menu, you would have to silence every trainer (of that class) in the game.

The most privileged class on HC was the season pass holders. A gold roll every day over 90 days really adds up.

Why disable Uni trees? Do you just mean disable Inqui but you're going to throw VKF under the bus too so you dont just seem like a salty inqui hater?

I could see them doing different themes than Permadeath for future events (or in addition to it)...but I dont think "no uni trees" is really a compelling one.

How about "only pure builds"? No multiclassing. That'd encourage people to play creatively...not just arbitrarily lock out one subset of builds.

Because it would be an easy tweak for SSG? I've used all the trees in various builds, very useful. My thought: permadeath was a challenge and therefore fun. Been there, done that, do it again? Sure, but this time a little different. Oh, and blue sashes. Next time purple.

And, SSG, keep any tweaks a secret until the day it opens. Surprise! Trick or treat! You know, FUN!

After all, it's not as if it impacted your 87th life character and the 'end game'.

    Default I want...

Hard Core Season 2 - "Bloodbath"
    - All quests and raids are set to a minimum difficulty of Reaper 3 skulls.
    - 'Solo only' and quests without Reaper difficulty are disabled.
    Khyber: Aggrim (Completionist!)
In Von 3 the breakables in the Troll Ambassador optional room are slow to get to and unnecessary for ransack.
    Blind insta-kills floating eye balls.

ummm....FVS & Artificer DO NOT need to be purchased. They can be obtained via favor and blocking any other class is not the right thing. Why refuse the ability to play the type of character a player likes to play?

Again, why keep players from playing the classes they prefer....should be all classes or not at all....no discrimination

From what I saw while playing on the Hardcore server, SSG will not get rid of ship buffs because to many players paid for the astral shards to get those ships and buffs.

But, since SSG has decided to wipe the Hardcore server, thereby wiping the paid for with astral shard airships and buffs. I am figuring the next Hardcore will see far less astral shard airships. With that said, I'd like an Amenities Bar located in the Marketplace (somewhere) with all ship buff free to use for all players

Hardcore only needs one obvious restriction to be fun.

I think the new hardcore server should only allow vowels in character names.

and.. No spells that start with the letter F

Lightbulb Soft Core - The next level

    I have a brilliant idea!

How about no Permanent deaths, no Rewards, no goals BUT it's permanent!

We can call it Soft Core server!

And you can free transfer (or copy) all of your real toons (plus everything else) and stay there, permanently.

    Perfecto!
