    Default U44 Preview 2: Named Loot

    Everything seen on the preview server, Lamannia, is not final and is subject to change or removal before live release.

    Hello all! Update 44 is expected to contain a wide variety of named loot. This loot can be obtained by speaking to "The Loot Guy" in the center island of the Test Dojo.

    Unlike usual the Heroic and Epic loot are not basic upgrades of the same items, as gearing for level 1 is very different than gearing for level 21. As such, when giving feedback on this loot please keep in mind the minimum level of the piece of loot you are looking at.


    Additional Fixes/Changes since Preview 1
    • Epic Weapons are now Minimum Level 20 (and their power values have been adjusted accordingly)
    • Epic Weapons now accept Sentience
    • A smattering of items have had effects swapped out for different ones. See below for details.

    I for one, liked them as level 21 and at level 21 power. So not a change I appreciate but I can understand being outvoted.

    Posting feedback for Preview 1 which I missed. For #2; I see that Improved Deception made it in, but on the ranged bracers?!? I still like my modified Golden Glittering Bangle better.

    New ML21 gear! Here are my initial thoughts.

    1) I don’t see any ML21 armor. Is that by design? I am assuming that we are then meant to stick with ML15 Sharn sets. Or not?

    2) Magnifying Lens – just a +2 to all stats from the ML17 Experimenters goggles. Nice for trapping, I suppose, but it would be nice to see other more useful options in that slot.

    3) Blackfeather Cloak and Boots mostly redundant with each other. Is this intended? Since boots provide FoM and Speed 30%, I can’t see many choosing the cloak. An ML21 version of the Shadowhail Cloak would be extremely welcome.

    4) Rings – I see the theme you are going for with the rings, but a single Resistance item is going to make most of the save bonuses not worthwhile. I would rather see other effects here myself. Spell saves jumps out at me however on the Wicked Insanity, making it better than the rest. And why gimp Crystalline Vanity with only saves vs one type of spell? Just make it Spell saves +8 as well. Thanks for the Whispering Ring, from us assassins

    5) Silver Sigil gloves –Ghostly and Lesser D!! That is a great item. And they will ruin my Sharn set. Lesser D and Ghostly only exist in Hands and Trinket slots in this new gear. This seems much too limited. Again, this has a lot to do with armor / sets. If I’m still wearing my heroic Sharn armor set, I have to give up the set to get these gloves.

    6) White Hood of Schemes – again, thanks from us stealthy types. With Bluff, Deception, Hide/MS on here, this is going to be a popular choice. For bracers, there is only one clear choice for us, Golden Glittering Bangle, They happen to also have Bluff +18. Ghostly or Lesser Dis would be a far better choice on one of these. Ghostly on the White Hood would make it a replacement for ML10 Shadowhail cloak, which I still can’t figure out how to get rid of.

    How about this, make the Golden Glittering Bangle the same as the Silver Sigil gloves. Now there’s a great item. And, not being gloves, it wouldn’t break my Sharn set. Replace Parrying with Dodge if you’d like, but most of us will have Dodge 8% with the ML15 Celestial Sapphire Ring, which is indispensable with its Improved Deception effect. Adding Improved Deception to either of these items, or the Whispering Ring, would be thematically appropriate and, IMO, a really good idea, since it also provides a nice stacking +5 to Bluff. Otherwise, I won’t be letting go of the heroic Celestial Sapphire Ring until I put on the Legendary one.

    Changing the striding boots to a remake of anger's step is an improvement for sure, though I would have preferred a competitive static bonus (like 15-20% opposed to a clickly for 25%) to make them a little different, but I guess that's totally off the table because of the ridged effect scaling system. So that's one additional useful item in addition to the spellpower ones. I still don't understand why the other effects can't scale like spellpower does with some baseline level so there aren't these pointlessly low numbers like +1% dodge or overshadowed my cheap consumables (+1 attributes when +4 potions in the marketplace).

    Is there some reason the weapons changed to ML2? They appear to gain absolutely nothing by being ML2 vs. ML1.

    Is there some reason the weapons changed to ML2? They appear to gain absolutely nothing by being ML2 vs. ML1.
    They did not change. The Heroic Weapons were Minimum Level 2 in preview 1 as well.

    Agreed, 21 with 21 scaling would be better than 20 with 20 scaling. ML20 with 21 scaling would seem like the logical way of making a named item due to how short lvl 20 is as a convenience thing. But as above, I guess that kind of flexibility with named item effect scaling isn't going to happen.

    20 with 20 scaling means I can actually use it when I hit 20. 20 is an exceptionally annoying level without having some level appropriate gear (especially a weapon).

    ML2, make it craftable, add it to the weapons list (purchasable by collecting stuff)

    They had one at 21 too.

    But I'm ok with these being 20 even if I prefer 21. Totally reasonable. I do agree 20 is a terrible level.

    I'm saying that the previous scepter in this pack that was 21 was also great for epic leveling.

    20 works too but has less crit chance. It's just 1% so not a huge thing. At any rate, I'm also glad these scepters will exist. Level 20 or 21 doesn't matter that much to me though I'd prefer 21.

    The ones that got adjusted from 21 to 20 in this preview. Just someone being salty even tho "they're ok with it".
