    Default U44 Preview 1: Named Loot

    Everything seen on the preview server, Lamannia, is not final and is subject to change or removal before live release.

    Hello all! Update 44 is expected to contain a wide variety of named loot. This loot can be obtained by speaking to "The Loot Guy" in the center island of the Test Dojo.

    Unlike usual the Heroic and Epic loot are not basic upgrades of the same items, as gearing for level 1 is very different than gearing for level 21. As such, when giving feedback on this loot please keep in mind the minimum level of the piece of loot you are looking at.

    If you're looking for the visuals, the Resonance version of these vfx orbs is in U43 loot. The Radiance version I have a few neato ideas for if you don't mind waiting for some upcoming raid loot...

    Every rule needs exceptions and the ML1 gear here really should have been an exception to the standard effect scaling. It's not even worth the trouble of getting most that stuff off a mule. Spellpower is maybe the one exception as that seems to have some kind of base constant added to the scaling part. I know I'm probably yelling into the wind here, but you should scale it all up to ML5 effect levels while keeping the actual ML at 1. Maybe some even higher like striding. We have ML1 expeditious retreat clickies. Vets have quivers. Casters can cast expeditious retreat. What's the point of a 3% striding effect? or really even a 10%?

    I appreciate the restraint shown in the design of the level 1 heroic gear trying to not utterly obliterate korthos with powercreep, at the same time however most of this seems pretty bad compared to level 1 Cannith crafted, especially the armors which have fortification equal to crafted but only a single effect, throwing on a second generically useful effect would be nice (something like False life +4 or 5 points of <a element> resistance), nothing crazy just something to put it on par with Cannith. I dunno maybe it's fine for brand new players. Other than wanting a second effect I think keeping the actual power of said effects in line with ML1 CC is good.

    Also can we Please not put 3% striding on gear, just put a minimum of 10% on everything, being slow sucks, not like anyone would use it because expeditious retreat clickie boots are available on korthos which is just a flat upgrade for anyone who doesn't have a quiver.

    I was looking for a sweet orb for my new ES Warlock who is going to try orbs instead of shields. I guess the same is technically true of the Radiance version as both would be most welcome. Sadly, I'm not much of a raiding type, so your new idea is something I will end up waiting many years for.

    Thanks for the reply!! I have a hard time believing this isn't an expansion. It seems similar in scope (but must not be on your end). Pretty #pumped to play U44 though!

    You've touched on something that I fully agree with. I'm seriously considering stepping into that progression and forcing the minimum value up to 5%. I also dislike seeing weird numbers on Fortification... I may step in and force it to conform to 5% increments. 38% is mathematically where it should be but is aesthetically gross, yanno?

    In any case, yeah, some of the weird level 1 numbers will likely get nudged around to make them less weird looking.

    The ML 21 stuff is great. It's particularly nice to have a bunch of baseline stuff to make sentient for epic leveling. Though again, personally I would make it all ML20 and level the effects the same (a whole bunch of stuff, including stats, get bumped at 21 so scaled at ML20 would be bad, I'd rather keep it the way it is than ML20 with ML20 scaling). Why have lvl 20 be this awkward mid-point where you have to run like 5 epic quests, but without your epic gear?

    But really that's a minor quibble (20 goes fast either way), I like that gear. I particularly like how you have variants in the same slot, but with different stats/spellpower. These are leveling items and need to fit into leveling gear sets. Having alternatives that will work with different builds will save a lot of headache.

    There's a nice Radiance orb in Another Man's Treasure. Agreed it sucks that good stuff is hidden behind raids. No I'm not going to start raiding.


    I like the epic gear a lot. I wasn't expecting anything nor cared about the low level loot. I just want more low level quests. Orbs and weapons are the big winners for epic gear for me. I'm struggling to complain about something here. Please help.

    Oh and Serrated Arrowhead. That's an item.

    What's the point of a 5% Striding item?

    First off, 5% isnt a noticeable change to your runspeed. Second, anything less than 25% is pointless since its in competition with Anger's Step clicky. Which is a direct competitor since both are boots from Starter zones.

    Honestly, with the recent changes to runspeed mechanics (Scoundrel PL, Mounts), it seems like you're kinda agreeing in your design philosophy that runspeed is a pretty basic QOL function. Why not just have Striding items increment from 25% at L1-8 to 30% and L9 and just call it good? Is there really a problem if low level chars have 25% runspeed as opposed to 10%?

    Plus then a number of named boots would be more useful since their low striding values essentially meant they didnt have striding and therefore werent boots worth using.

    (PS...make it so Scoundrel PL isnt deactivated by PDK sprint boost? That singular shortcoming makes it worthless as an alternative to slotting Striding on an item, since you want to have both full-uptime 30% runspeed AND sprint boosts)

    Please please please do this. Actually, in general, please round off some values. Obviously things that increment by 1% can't really be rounded to 5/10% without major balance/progression issues, but I don't think nudging values 1-2% of mid to high double or even triple digit values is going to do nearly as much damage to balance as the weird numbers do to my sanity.

    Fiendblood Bracers Wrists Slot
    Minimum Level: 21

    Marksmanship This item is enchanted to enhance your skill with ranged weapons. When using ranged weapons you gain +2 to your attack rolls and a +1 to your damage.
    Proficiency: Longbow
    Proficiency: Shortbow
    Shrieking Bolt This item resonates with sonic energy. On ranged attacks, on an attack roll of 20 which is confirmed as a critical hit, it will punish the target with a blast of sound (10 to 60 sonic damage). A successful Fortitude save (DC22) reduces this damage by half.
    Empty Yellow Augment Slot

    You already made this item, it's called Wind Howler Bracers and it's minimum level 13.

    Proficiency is pointless because every class that would ever use a bow (specially with how terrible bows are) is going to have it built in or have a feat to spare.

    Marksmanship is mediocre on the ML13 version of these bracers, it's barely a thing at 21+.

    Also 10-60 (actually 5-30 because nothing is failing a DC22 fort save in epics) means nothing at level 21, let alone only triggering on vorpal 20s.

    This is just a worse version of a level 13 item that itself isn't anything special, at bare minimum replace the proc with a on crit (not just vorpal) do X sonic damage with no DC, and count the proficiencies as a single effect for the 4 effect rule and add one of deadly,accuracy,saves or dodge or a insightful version of any of those.
