Update - After several more launches I was finally able to log in. Play and switching characters seemed fast. Exit and relaunch just to see what happens, back to the previous of hanging all over the place. Seems to be hit or miss, more on the miss side.

Have rebooted my machine and all my routers.

The DDO game worlds will, likely, be brought down for a hotfix at 9:00 AM Eastern (-4 GMT) on Friday October 11th to improve the health of the game environment. Reminder that airship amenities can take up to an hour to repopulate when the worlds reopen.

Work actively continues on this hotfix and it is possible that it will not pass verification meaning that this downtime will be cancelled. This thread will be updated if that occurs.

Thank you very much for the hardwork.

    Default still seeing lag

I think the various playability bugs are fixed well enough, but I'm still seeing lag on multiple servers. I did a tracert and the timeouts and delays are all outside my control. Typical tracert:

    >tracert gls.ddo.com

    Tracing route to gls.ddo.com [198.252.160.23]
over a maximum of 30 hops:

    1 <1 ms <1 ms 1 ms 192.168.1.1
    2 1 ms 1 ms 1 ms 192.168.200.1

    17 30 ms 30 ms 35 ms 198.252.160.23

    Trace complete.

Every one times out either right before or right after 4.31.43.210.

Anyone know if this indicates a problem in SSG (or their host) or backbone routing.

    Thanks.

Able to log in with both accounts, first try.

No lag during promotion of toons.

It looks like your routing protocols and switch configurations are now working better than they have been the last few days. The Loadings screens and Airship Amenities all seem to be running at normal speed again. Changing Epic Destinies was fussier than normal (nothing major or too unusual though for ED).

The only minor issue I came across at random in the Harbour today since your latest Hotfix:

(Error): Your connection with the Chat server has been lost.

I rarely have that message occur. I haven't bothered retrying the Night Revels Graveyard yet.

    right now on argo:

not sure if pro or con:

Pro: definetly past 6 on friday night, they working late, fact.

Con: they are shamelessly using live servers for testing, fact.

p.s. did some 7 graveyard quest runs: how to put it, ... when u kite more than 2 dozen together it doesn't seem to lag more "than usual".

    pro or con?

So... you were giving out last year's candy for this Halloween?

No wonder all the kids were complaining!

No unusual lag noticed, GJ, thanks again!

Continuing to try to resolve this for me. I actually lost connectivity to DDO and the forums until I changed my DNS to point to Google's DNS Servers. Not sure what I can change to make the game portion work though. Would love any ideas anyone has

That, 30 ms, would not be a problem but ping and tracert send IMCP packets which are treated differently by routers so they are not always a good indicator. When lag affects some players but not all it is a backbone issue typically peering agreements between providers. ALso keep in mind that WAN optimizers are not addressable devices so they do not appear in a trace.

Final update on mine: I was able to finally resolve everything by cycling through multiple different DNS to work through forums and updates. The hangs and slow times were presumably due to whatever issues were going on between the network propagations. I am now back to normal and running smoothly. One side note after this update, in order to run I now have to launch as administrator which I didn't before. Perhaps that aided it, perhaps not, but most definitely the other issues were DNS related.

Much improvement since the Friday patch. I did lose the chat server briefly once, and in a quest with a hireling, it took several attempts and maybe 2 full minutes of trying to dismiss her before she left (still at quest entrance).
My take on "the grind": https://www.ddo.com/forums/showthrea...=1#post6220972

Ordinary humans have inhibitions that serve as a buffer against what we know is bad behavior.
However, some people, by blaming others for their own bad behavior, develop a thought pattern that allows them to override self-control in order to achieve a selfish end.
    - My opinion on exploiters and cheaters blaming SSG for unfair punishment.

Mac Client is now totally dead. Cannot start with the ddolauncher script workaround I finally found two or three weeks back. Client starts, then crashes with no error, no output.

Very sad that a game I paid hundreds of dollars for over the past five years is now totally unplayable....

Heh. Whenever the servers come back up from a downtime we go into world and perform what we call a "whiteglove" test to make sure everything is good to open to players. Sometimes the situation calls for additional checks that require me to "uncloak" which makes the admin character visible to players. And then I just happened to forgot to close the client after I was done so it remained logged in sitting there all weekend (admin clients/characters don't have an AFK logout timer). Otherwise this is just standard practice.
