Default Shards that were crafted before cannith crafting update - what to do with them?

I am a returning player that crafted a whole lot of shards before the cannith crafting update. Is there any way to utilize the shards at this time or do I just destroy them? Thanks in advance!

I'm sorry to say that the only thing you can do with them is sell them to a vendor for a tiny amount of platinum. When the crafting changes occurred the devs announced ahead of time that the old shards would not be compatible and advised everyone to deconstruct them for essences. Any old essences you still have (good, law, etc.) can be traded in for the new essences, but the old shards can no longed be broken down.

Despite some growing pains, I think the new crafting is miles ahead of the old version so in all it's mostly a good change.

    Welcome back.

So sad. I had invested a LOT of time into creating them years ago !
I just find it sad that I'm not even able to get Cannith Essences out of them ...
I still have these old shards - as some kind of antique treasure ...

    ...any more.

There was a period where you could have, but many of us (myself included) missed that opportunity. Is what it is.

That is too bad. It takes me a really long time to get collectibles and essences. Wish the requirements weren't so steep.

There was a long period where you could, but for anyone who was not playing during those weeks/months... we snoozed, we, erm, losed.

The collectables are (mostly) the same, and you ~can~ exchange old essences for new (at any vendor in a crafting hall, 2nd option). And someone said you can sell old shards for a (very) few plat - dunno, but maybe.

    But that's it.

Well, I wasn't playing DDO for several years. I even missed the 10 years anniversary !
