Default Pirate look - items ?

    Hello everyone,

being an altoholic, I've created a Bard. She won't see much action soon, because there are other classes I concentrate on first.

But, since I used the "Swashbuckler" tree, I've decided to give her a distinct pirate look.

I've already got the Corsair's Skullcap from the Crystal Cove Event, and the Corsair's Bandana, which is random loot, I guess.
I also pulled Wharfrat's Plank out of my bank, just for the theme ...

Now I'm looking for more armor which lets my Bard more or less look like a pirate ... apart from the Crystal Cove Event ...

    Any ideas ?

I might try using a glam mirror as well, spo please feel free to give me ideas !

A link towards the item in the DDO Wiki would also be helpful for me so that i can see where I might be able to get it.
Edit : I'm currently browsing through this page https://ddowiki.com/page/Cosmetic/Category:Cloth_armor and found a few ideas ... most of that is higher than level 4, though ...
Unfortunately my Bard can't wear that : https://ddowiki.com/page/Item:Barnacled_Buckler and this neither : https://ddowiki.com/page/Item:Kobold_Admiral%27s_Tiller

And if anyone of the devs read this : What about pirate cosmetic gear ? And I mean mainly armor, not so much headgear ...
And please do some more good-looking armor for lower levels ! Most great looking items are only for level 15+ ...

IMO the best pirate cosmetic is the Swashbuckler Outfit from the DDO paired with the cosmetic pirate hat.

Here is an image off the web of the Swashbuckler Outfit:

And my cleric is wearing the hat:

Hmm you just missed Crystal Cove, you can Mirror the pirate hats there which is very nice because you can also dye them to match whatever else you happen to be wearing.

My swash happens to be wearing https://ddowiki.com/page/Item:Mist-laden_Vestment with a Mirrored https://ddowiki.com/page/Item:Captain%27s_Chapeau dyed violet, with a Mirrored https://ddowiki.com/page/Item:Kobold_Admiral%27s_Tiller. I have not yet chosen a cloak for this ensemble but she does have a cosmetic parrot flying around behind her. You can use a Mirror on a shield too.

    Some other options are
    Desecrated Leathers https://ddowiki.com/page/Itemesecrated_Leathers
    Reynard's Elegant Hat https://ddowiki.com/page/Item:Renard%27s_Elegant_Hat
    Braza's Hat https://ddowiki.com/page/Braza%27s_Hat

There is a store cosmetic called the Swashbuckling Outfit, unfortunately wiki doesn't have a picture. It looks very, very different on female versus male characters. It looks pretty nice on guys not so much on females IMHO. It falls into that category of armor where the female version is a slightly different color from the male version, in this case the female blouse looks dingier, less freshly laundered than the male's pirate blouse.

    Default Wait for it...

Not the best lighting, but I put them both on in the Hall of Heros on my PDK Sorc. Took a wall shot:

    Thanks. Really appreciated.

Regarding Crystal Cove, I'm really okay with the Corsair's Skullcap. It has a nice Jolly Roger on its top.

I think I'll look for that Swashbuckling outfit, then.

If you happen to have more ideas for shields / bucklers, then I'm curious to read that !

Edit : Braza's Hat looks good, too !

Unfortunately there aren't a large variety of sea worthy bucklers. There's the two you listed in your original post and maybe the crab shell bucklers but I tend to lean toward using those cosmetically for a cold/lightning sorc or druid.

Maybe someday we'll get one like the actual Swashbuckler but with a Jolly Roger painted on it.

While its not overtly nautical, Wildwood Vest still has a very "not medieval" look to it, more formal like a pirate Captain, and the dark color might match the fancier pirate hats better than the frillier Swashbuckler Outfit

Looks like it would pair well with Braza's Hat too.

I have uploaded the female version of it (and I hope I did everything right, I still feel like an beginner with the Wiki).
If ncessary, I might upload the male version one day as well, but the Compandium already seems to have a picture of it, as I saw above ...

It's all about the hat. Find the right hat and you are a pirate (or maybe a nsfw pirate).

You might even have to make the character around the hat for best effect. For instance, this is from a different MMO, While I hadn't really intended to make a "pirate", I did adjust this character's esthetic with this particular hat in mind at the time of creation (it's a semi-rare end-game bard-only hat). The rest wasn't much up to choice -- it's regular bard gear and naturally "piratey".

I always thought the Enforcer's Coat looked rather piratical.

Personally, I think that the Parasitic Breastplate looks very piratey, but that's just me.

    Default Inspired!

I like the images with birds the best:

I'm going to make a bard pirate. I've got the Peacock and the Parrots. Of course I have the Tiller

Allot of great choices for suits in the thread as well. I'm going to farm Brazza's Hat and glamor it.

Not the mirrored cosmetic, the original pirate hats from Crystal Cove can be dyed. Then the Mirror can be used.

    These hats https://ddowiki.com/page/Treasure_of...Cove_loot#Hats

although the various colors are not listed there is violet, blue, green, blue-green (teal), ...and I'm not certain but I think there was also gray or un-dyed, brown, orange and yellow. With a store purchase you could also get black, red and pink.
