I tend to hesitate on xp pots when I am going slow and careful which is what most of this will be.
I almost never use xp pots except on my main.
I never use 50% xp pots unless I am doing an otto's box.

Ran most of my main toon's rxp farming at level cap w/o xp pots, so its very likely I will avoid xp pots on the hardcore server.

As mentioned earlier, when a hire dies one can raise thus, but it remains translucent and does not respond to hot bar commands.
    Is this working as intended?
    Seems interesting penalty.
Will bug report and let devs decide.

Otto Boxes are a non issue. They only give normal xp, which doesn't give you favor or reaper xp. Plus, like someone else pointed out, leveling up 15 levels in an instant isn't going to be very useful if you still have level 3 gear.

I know you all have to balance making money, but offering certain items would really undermine the whole point of the server.

Stuff like SP potions, healing potions, store augments and maybe even stat tomes I could possibly tolerate and feel like it's not undercutting the point of the server too much.

There are not planned to be any differences between the DDO store on regular live servers and the DDO store on the Hardcore League server.

Do we know if Iconics get their Gear Packages at 14 or 15?

I rolled an iconic (and it died...) and at the time I rolled it there was no iconic gear box.

However, in the past (and you can test this out on live), when I roll an iconic and use it for testing, I recall it does not receive the gear box until it levels up to 15.
So, I would assume if you leveled up to 15 without dying then you would get the gear box.

Yes, Favor is reset on True Reincarnation, so you will want to plan accordingly.

You should receive your Iconic gear after leveling up to 15.

Yep. The gear box doesn't even pop into one's inventory until level 14 or 15 (I forget exactly which). That could justify an Otto's were one so inclined. Would it make enough of a difference since you don't get the corresponding Favor? For me it wouldn't - but it could for some.

Just wanted to chime in that this seems like an interesting concept, but I wonder if 90 days is too short to be feasible for some players? This is going to level a lot slower than people normally do, and enjoying permadeath does not necessarily equate to "having lots of play time". They wouldn't be on any leaderboard, which is fine, but may still enjoy the journey and collect some bragging rights/cosmetics. I'm not sure how many are in that boat, or if extending it would be feasible, but I'm just throwing it out there for future consideration if the experiment is successful. Perhaps even a permanent hardcore server w/o past lives to ensure it does not get easier?

I don't know - some seem offended about the inclusion of the store, daily gold rolls, account unlocks, expansion grants, etc. If it were put to a vote, I'd vote them out, but it's pretty clear they're going to be in. It won't stop me from joining in what I think is going to be really fun. All of the rewards are based on self/group accomplishments, not the leaderboard.

I look at the leaderboard as a bit of fun really - a motivational tool. I think those that place on it will be good players - better than me, I'm sure - so it will prove that. But I don't think it's going to be some kind of irrefutable evidence that they're the very best players, necessarily. Probably be a combination of skill, strategy, good groups, and also some good luck with champ spawns and chest pulls, available time, determination, etc. Since it was designed from inception as a PvE game, I it'd be pretty tough to satisfy everyone that the top spot of a leaderboard competition was purely the result of skill vs. the #2 and 3 spots. Too many variables, even if the store got nixed.

I think the best competitive advantage (way more so than store purchases) would be to either assemble a static group with a balanced party that works well together, or have a tight friend list of competent players you know can be counted on to help each other not die. Or at least not pull red DA lol. And reviewing the wiki before each quest - some things that your main waltzes through and you that you don't even think about anymore might pose a real threat to a poorly geared first lifer.

Wow. That changes things. Normally, I throw away that gear as soon as I get it, but on the hardcore server, it's going to be much better that what I'll have otherwise.

Now, I just have to make it to L15...

You really should consider disabling that.

Been working outside in the yard today, taking a break on the test server, and everytime I come back from an afk, there is a red message:

(World Broadcast): World broadcast: 'Death has claimed another! _______ has perished at level 6!'

    Post general feedback

I didn't have a lot of time to try out the test server but I roled up a Bladeforged Paladin and managed to get to level 6. The overall feel reminded me of when I started the game and another time when I took a hiatus from my main server to play on a different server with no "older characters" to hand down loot and plat. I played solo on the test server and occasionally used a cleric hireling. On the first day a gold roll landed me 9K gold so that was handy! During my gametime there were a few LFMs up (for level 5 or below quests).

I am glad the rewards from this event will be account wide and are cosmetic only. I understand others that are concerned about a temporary drop in server populations as some will opt to play on the hardcore severe but I think it is wise to only make the server available for 90 days. Maybe this will perk interest in more permadeath (I played it for several months a few years ago and it was fun). If the event is a success then maybe this could be a once yearly event where folks could earn unique cosmetics and have a break from "regular gameplay" to give a shot at Hardcore League server. As far as the 90 day durantion, that seems reasonable as some events only encompass a few weeks and I don't know about others, but if my work schedule doesn't fit just right sometimes I miss out on items I would like to obtain during an event. This also is plenty of time to get a character all the way to level 20 for many in DDO.

In regards to the store, I agree, let the store and any other benefits for VIP/ purchases be allowed. None of these small benefits will be the ultimate cause for victory on the leaderboard or in earning a cosmetic. Daily dice, I understand, can be a concern as well, as others have mentioned, but as VIPs all the characters on the server will be allowed the minimal daily rolls. If someone chooses to spend shards/ money on additional roles that is no different than buying anything else in the store to help out in questing (whether a skill or ability tome or something like a secret door wand or bell of opening). Technically, if someone wants to farm things to sell on the shard exchange this is a potential source for shards that can be used on rolls (and thus not costing $$). As such, I do not think the pay to win for daily dice is a valid argument. As with ddo in general, if someone chooses to spend time farming and selling things to other players or trading then it is the choice of the player. Nothing is forced.

There were many low level items listed on the AH when I browsed. I even bought a level 2 shield thanks to the plat I got on a daily roll.

    Some suggestions:

    1. The armor and weapon vendor in the marketplace could be allowed to sell items at all levels and not just the very low ones. I foresee that vendors will be utilized more often by players and I think a good way to balance economy would be to allow players to buy things sold to vendors by other players. House D does have the old weapon vendors but some that play the game may be unaware of them and since we have clothing and jewelry vendors in the marketplace I think adding a weapon and armor vendor like the ones in Eveningstar who sell items of all levels would have no negative impact on the game (either on all servers or on the Hardcore League server).

    2. It may be too much trouble, but I do think making the leaderboards divided among class types would be nice (just like at character creation with the choices of iconic, specialist, melee, spellcaster). But how would multiclasses be split up? That raises another question.

    3. This may be impossible, but if one party member dies in a raid then the whole raid party gets booted from the raid only to try again.

I have enjoyed my limited experience with the Hardcore League and am happy to have earned my bloody reaper (temporarily). This and other seasonal events can keep some life in ddo as once this is over I think many will say.."I wonder what rewards we could get next year if they do the Hardcore League again?"

And FYI, I am excited to try a wraith pale master as well as an alchemist.

Default Can we not have to go thru Korthos tutorial everytime you roll up a characater?

Having to do the stupid tutorial everytime I bust a new character out is gonna be brutal. I mean ive been playing 10 yrs I really don't need to know how to swing and axe.

As far as this permadeath server it actually was kind of cool rolling up a brand new char with no gold, no weapons no past lives no anything. Every chest I was scrounging for something cool. Trying to build up enough plat to even get some decent pots. Seems like this will be a pretty cool thing but has some probs. I see some easy ways to exploit some things and will empty out all of the servers once this hits live. I think people will actually dig this more than they think they will. I didn't think I would like it as much as I did but took me back to my early days playing. Definatly have to team work as party to keep everybody alive.

I am sad to see that no one has unlocked the bloody footprints cosmetic for 1000 favor. Or if someone did, they died ... the former 1st place for favor and reaper exp from yesterday is gone... did he/she/they achieve it and take a screenshot before dying? The next closest is at 500 favor, so unlikely to get it done before the end of the day (and I sadly don't have enough time tonight to attempt to do so).

Was really hoping during the preview to be able to, you know, preview the cosmetics. XD

The preview has ended. The server is coming down momentarily. Thank you to everyone who gave it a try. We'd love continued feedback in the lamannia section of the forums.

Interesting, I went incapacitated just now, and clicked on the get spirit cake button.
35 shards were spent and I went back to half health.
    Never done that before.

And I just got booted from the world.
    Great preview.

WAI. Incapacitated is not dead. Increasing your unconsciousness range could prove useful.
