    Default Multi-Patch/Update Preview: Named Loot

    Hey all! This is the named look that'll drop in U43. It contains some set items, some items not in any sets, two new sets of Filigree, and two new Minor Artifacts.

    As always, constructive feedback is a lot easier to reply to than anything else. Keep it clean, folks

    These are Heroic level 17, Epic level 29. The Filigree will be added to the Generation 2 pool, the Artifacts will drop randomly in this pack (note that ONLY these two artifacts will drop in this pack - it's not one big pool of Artifacts). Heroic and Epic items match Sharn and level 17 CC's Power Levels exactly, no power level jumps. I've transcribed the Artifacts because it's not always clear what numbers will end up where Oh, and, this will use the Nearly Finished crafting system for a few more Nearly Finished items. Same costs to complete items, these chests will drop the same ingredients, etc etc. It'll all work out the way you hope it will.

    I like that we are getting some nice Palemaster gear, but was the intention of the Deadkeaper set to compete with the Sharn Black Velvet cloak, something that every palemaster will want? Basically just completely invalidated a great item that was just added a couple of months ago in favor of a so so cloak. Is it possible for this to get changed to a different slot? I could see a Shroud as a head slot item.

    Edit: now I see that the set gets the undeath boon, and other things could be slotted elsewhere, so it isn't as bad as I first thought. It still seems like a waste to soft remove an item a couple months after release though. Both sets will be used by just a single enhancement line that until the last few updates was undersupported in gear. It seems like these items should be working with each other rather than competing

    Just to be clear, are these items going into sharn or the new quest's chain we are also previewing? And can we like... make these go live yesterday? Someone's assassin just hit 30.

    These are for the new adventure pack "The Soul Splitter". This adventure pack takes place in the city of Sharn but is not a part of the Masterminds of Sharn expansion/adventure pack.

    We can also not make these go live yesterday as we have yet to complete your time travel feature. It's held up in testing. I haven't seen the person assigned to it in a while now that you mention it.

    There are a lot of PM items with boon of undeath. Do they stack with the same effect when hit, ie go off 3x if you have 3 effects on your? is this the best option for a set bonus or another +1 necro DC instead to open up the set to force spell casters that don't want to take more damage when hit as not all caster should be pushed to do PM.... roleplayingwise, i never liked the choice in ddo...

    What's the Quality bonus on ML17 items? Cannith Crafting does not tell us the magnitude for Quality bonus. Is it +2 like on Dashing Gloves, ML17?

    I think putting insight 10 stats on artifacts is a mistake, because you can slot insight 10 stats elsewhere. You can only wear ONE artifact, so the ones with +23 enhancement are going to be the prime ones by default because you CANNOT slot that elsewhere. Make them +23 enhancement like all the other artifacts.

    I think making Intercession Ward a bonus AFTER +50% threat is a big mistake. People either want threat or they REALLY REALLY REALLY do not. Putting something useful AFTER threat in a filigree set bonus is a mistake. Any threat increase should always be the LAST bonus in a set so that people can avoid it if they don't want it.

    Heroic loot made from U29 forward is all tied to the same scale as Cannith Crafting.

    The above was likely in reference to the cap level variants where power values are not strictly intertwined with minimum level.

    Is it also intended to leave off the +3 DCs that every other caster set from sharn enjoys?

    If you move shroud to another slot (leaving Black Velvet Capelet free to take the cloak slot), you could replace Boon of Undeath for Spell DCs if it is a matter of number of set bonuses. This way, you aren't invalidating a recently released item and the set is on par with the DCs of every other caster set released in Sharn. I like the set overall, it just doesn't play well with just released palemaster items and is lacking in the DC department, something that every other caster set, regardless of type, has.

    From the Esoteric Initiate set, this set has worse DCs and is much more narrowly focused. A pure palemaster DC casting wizard would still be better off with that set with +15% to all crit (including force and neg) and the 30 Universal spell power and the +4 spell DCs and just slot the Capelet for Boon. And in comparison to Warforged EKs with the Arcsteel Battlemage set, this set for fleshy, undead EKs has less types boosted (2 compared to 4), and doesn't get the same DC boost. The only advantage this set has is 20 PRR, which I don't think should also mean removing DCs on a class that is all DC casting.

    Please consider adding +3 Spell DCs to this set to match the other casting sets. If you have to, remove the Boon and change shroud to a different location so palemasters can slot the capelet instead.

    I know this might sound a bit weird, but is the PM set designed for melees or casters? As it stands, it feels like a bit of a weird hybrid. Why not split the set in two; one for casters and one for melee PMs?

    From an itemization stand point, it feels like the set as is doesn't warrant trying to swap it out for one of the Sharn sets for either type of role. And the set bonus itself feels a bit generic rather since it tries to cater to both sides. Most players will say they play PMs as DC casters and that's fine. But the negative spellpower and crit, PRR, and Greater Boon of Undeath feel like this set was almost designed for a melee PM with an additional +4 int to cover the bases for casters.

    So is it too late in the dev cycle to ask for a secondary set to be made and to make one definitely melee with bonuses in that regard (spellpower, doublestrike/melee power, and boon of undeath) and the other caster (stats, DCs, boon of undeath, etc)?

    It's worth noting that the other Arcane melee set, the Arcsteel Battlemage set for Artificers and Warforged Wizards also has DCs. I think this set would be fine as a single set iff they added the +3 DC that every caster set that isn't esoteric initiate gets. Otherwise, it is specifically worse than all the other hybrid casters (as they still get +DCs in heavier armor) and the Esoteric Initiate set (Which would have more neg crit with the +15% universal crit) and has +4 Int/DCs. Probably too late to make an entirely new set, but this one can take some buffing to make it workable. I am fine with it being somewhere in the middle of caster and melee, but it shouldn't be just plain worse than other armored caster sets.
