Default Returning Player Needing Advice and Theory Crafting?

Hi, so I've been posting in the Fighter forums, but thought I might want to post over here as well.

I'm a returning player who's catching up on things and trying to get back into the game.

I like the Dragonborn, so what I want to do is some sort of Dragonborn with an asian/oriental feel to it. Monk seems a natural way, but I feel as if I should perhaps use something else to get the feel that I want. So, I have some odd idea to use Kensei on it to start out and pick a weapon that has the "feel" that I want and I can run with. However, I am also undecided on just what weapon to stick with as of yet.

In theory, what is the best way to approach this as far as building, weaponry, and the like?

I'll note the concept is open because, as I said, I am a returning player that wants to get back into the game and enjoy it. Is there some builds that a Dragonborn on a Monk could be fun to play? I am not looking to be the "best" at anything as of yet. I want to have fun, not go off and go raiding or the like as of yet.

Please, Monk types, help out a potential Dragonborn brother?

    Ok,
Dragonborn get adds to str and cha
So best bet is to splash 1 maybe 2 levels of cleric and get divine might
    And go str based
Monks are normally dex or wis based
But if you splash monk, you will have wear robes
But you will get evasion, and AC adds based on your wisdom
Evasion is good to have, I prefer my builds to be evasion based
You can go Kensai, meaning you take tier5 enhancements, and go one with the blade
That allows you to be centered with any kind of weapon
More or less, there are caveats, like repeating Xbow don't work

Now, you can build anything for heroics
If you're just returning and want to play around,
Going for the look so to speak
I would suggest like a 16/2/2 fighter monk cleric
    Maybe using longswords
Since its closest to katana you can get
With 2 monk you get evasion and wisdom to AC
With 2 cleric you get divine might and str domain
And 16 fighter gives you lot of feats
Enough to take all the stances from monk which are really cool

Now really, if this is just for heroic,
Some things like how many point build you have?
Is this a first lifer, with 28 pt
Or do you have 32 or 34 or 36?
And do you have any tomes?
Since sometimes that matters in building properly
But right now longswords are in a good place,
And I've just done some ranger monk lives,
And the dps is pretty good
    But you'd go str
So you'd need str cha dex wis and con
That's a tough sell for a new toon
They call it mad, multi attribute disorder
Usually you try for one main stat or 3 but you can do ok with average numbers
You will have the fest to build something decent

I would suggest twf style and going longsword
It'll have stances, spells, dps and should keep you busy
There are plenty of fighter monk hybrids, but pure is generally better
But I think the meta is better served with evasion
So 2 monk splash is one way to do that on a fighter

    Otherwise,
Monks are wraps for Shintao, staff for henshin, and short swords for ninja
But like I said dragonborn best served by divine might
    Ie they make good paladins

I can put together a build for ya,
Need to know how many build points and if you got tomes
    And another point,
If this is just for heroic, and you plan to tr,
Then you usually goto 18 and hold last 2 levels
    So it'd be like a 14/2/2
    Which will work fine
    Vishantii (the bird man)
    Kil (heroic and epic completionist)

    Sarlona, Heart of Wisdom

That's a lot to take in there. Far as the build offer, that's up to you. I'm currently on 28 point builds with no tomes. I'll admit I'm a bit iffy on it all as I do not often play caster types.

Nice to know there's a way to combine the two main stats for maximum to hit, though! I kinda like that idea.

Far as weapons, I've left that open. I was thinking of going more the two handed weapons rather than two weapon fighting at the moment, but if you got a good case for the latter I might try to figure out some sort of aesthetic there. The whole asian/oriental feel certainly could lean towards it or just flat out one on it's own if I wanted a kick butt swordsman type.

Anyways, hope that information helps. At the moment I'm just planning to get into the game. I don't even know what "heroic" or "tr" means at this time as it's been that long for me.
