    Default Diplomacy!?

Sharn approaches and Diplomacy becomes an essential skill? Will there be quests where bribes and lies replace weapons? Can stealth and illusion win the day? Dialog that actually makes a difference?

I imagine guards with 'bribe' DCs instead of locks, mob 'suspicion' overcome by diplo rolls. Traitors selling cosmetic uniforms to infiltrate the palace staff. Passwords obtained at the local pub, after suitable libations.

Or, perhaps just a Jameson dream, and all the quests will be standard R10 fare, perhaps with a better selection of bosses.

I should be old enough to know better, but I can hope.

Although I'm actually quite sober, I continue to think of interesting game tweaks.

Breaking boxes may attract monsters, but do they have a directional sense? If you shoot a box behind the monster, they should turn around to look.

Killing a boss should force a morale check for any remaining mob. Failing the roll would be about same as Curse?

Illusions would add a lot to dungeon strategy. Perhaps a 'targeted' summons thing, to make a monster appear behind the mob.

Better AIs for everybody; hires, monsters, shoppers, pub patrons. Change behavior with weather (move to cover when it rains), time of day, festivals.

Severely over level rares in wilderness areas. And, occasionally, in public areas.

    You can dream.

Unfortunately it's seems to be just a glorified additional Boost albeit one that can effect several things.

I'm in favor of adding many "skill" checks to open up more options. Be it for optional completion paths or even just optional objectives.

Dungeons & Dragons - although developed from tabletop origins - is nowadays so much more than just combat.
