Default Barb Items to improve MRR & PRR Ratings

So I'm a Frenzied Berzerker Barb Tier 5, proficient in light & Heavy Armor & have Improved Uncanny Dodge. Just not enjoying the fact that my MRR is @ 51, and PRR is at a goose egg zero! Boots of the Devil Commander boosts it up to 64, but then I loose out on my Evasive Boots of Strength +8, so no trade off. Had some previous helmet I lost that gave a PRR & MRR addition of 20, but nothing will replace my Executioner's Helm....SO, my question is what items out there that I could farm to give rise to my MRR/PRR, at least get my PRR out of zero! Should I switch to light armour? I heard after some updates MRR/PRR ratings are null or something? or is it really crucial in gameplay? Much Appreciated.

Being naked isn't good defense. The only way your prr is 0 is you're either wearing a robe/outfit or you're naked. Put some armor on.

also if you are not proficient with the armor you are wearing, you don't get PRR from it

    Default Heavy armour proficiency

Now this is interesting as that was what I thought also. But I was discussing this with a guild mate who seemed to disagree. Now I normally know little about game mechanics and when I do learn them they change!

I was playing a warlock and wearing heavy armor without the proficiency (at low levels) Suffered somewhat from spell failure but got it down to 10%. But I was thinking of taking proficiency so I would get more out of the armour.

I will have a look to check of this where this is stated.

I am going to roll a barbarian and stick him in heavy armour also at low levels (just running him up as a mule really) so want him to be able to wield a big axe and wear heavy amour. Barbarians just run faster, but I guess fighter would be ok.

it's stated for example here: https://ddowiki.com/page/Physical_Re...e_Rating#Items
    second note under tables

this was not always the case. when PRR was introduced, proficiency was not needed.

Just equipped some new Heavy Armor yesterday:
    Mrr:62
    Prr: 0 ?

I picked up the Epic feat Heavy Armor prof...thinking Mrr ratings are harder to aquire? but mine still sits at a zero, did I skip a needed feat somewhere?

The Wiki sources are a great place to start, and I ocassionally find items that have good ratings. Also a Sentient item with slots could do the trick. Thanks.

One of the things I love about this game is the community that have made such a great wiki that can answer almost any question I have. it also great for finding equipment and info on it like what quest it found in and tips on squiring it. Great for planning equipment layout. I highly recommend taking advantage of this for example typing "ddo named necklace" in google will get you a page with every necklace on it for example (https://ddowiki.com/page/Category:Neck_items). so you can look for the slots you got available and see if any items listed work for you and find out exactly where to find that item.

That being said here a couple tips specific to your question.

At level 11 all barbarians gain the feat Greater rage(https://ddowiki.com/page/Greater_Rage) which grants +10 PRR when in median armor. Which means at level 20 heavy armor no long have a PRR advantage over median armor
    Heavy Armor = 20*2=40
    Median armor = (20*1.5)+10 = 40
At one point a lot of barbarians took heavy armor for the 30DR/60DR on shadow heavy armor(https://ddowiki.com/page/Item:Flawle...gonscale_Armor) but that a lot less popular since ravenloft expansion because of the medium armor coat of travelers (https://ddowiki.com/page/Item:Legend...f_the_Traveler).

An option for MRR is crafting a slave lord item which you can put Sheltering as a prefix which is a +45 PRR and MRR item plus you have lot of options where to slot it necklace/bracers/belt/boots/ring/trinket
    https://ddowiki.com/page/Slave_Lords_Crafting

If you have ravenloft the crypt raider set also something you can aim for which defiantly get you +50 PRR. Legendary Cursebane gives +50MRR but Bloodrage Chrism if you can get is prefer if you a THF.
    https://ddowiki.com/page/Category:Cr...ary)_set_items

some of the items above would require some grinding or raiding so if that don't work for you, also take a look through full list of name items and see if there anything there you like and not hard to obtain
    https://ddowiki.com/page/Category:Sheltering_items

Finally if you have a char leveled a bit in crafting you can make your self a cannith crafted item
    https://ddowiki.com/page/Cannith_Crafting

more specifically this page shows what can go on each slot
    https://ddowiki.com/page/Cannith_Crafting/table_1b

and this shows what the bonus will be base on the min level gem you choose to use on item

Tonight is your last chance to buy mysterious cloak or mysterious bracers which gives insightful MRR (stacks with regular sheltering or magical sheltering) plus exceptional healing amp. All, goodness for a barbarian.

Thanks, yes, so I should have just taken the Uncanny Dodge Feat, for better saves...Heavy armor prof is worth jack?.yeah, this might have been my issue for this thread. But there are some other threads on that too..@ lvl 25 so I will go for the flawless Dragonscale armor....it also has Deathblock, I have no Deathblock items..against beholders & certain qsts I get neg lvls. Just hoping all of these sheltering items will stack, I think they do without cap.
Thanks yes, I will scope out more wiki items in detail, it's amazing what wiki really has to offer, and get on some slave lord crafting which is the highest endgame MRR&PRR defenses up in Legendary too. Thanks.
