Default Update 41: Loot (Threads of Fate, Filigree)

    Threads of Fate

Threads of Fate are a new Legendary Raid Currency introducing in Update 41. We've talked about them a lot already (under the name Legendary Souls), but here are the details you've been waiting for!

Threads of Fate are Bound to Account on Acquire an are found in the end chests of the 11 Raids at the level cap. They are not passable in-chest, and can go into your Green Bag in stacks of up to 10,000. They are currently used for the following things, ordered from cheapest to most expensive:

    1. Re-acquiring already earned Raid Loot to boost its power level to appropriate values and lower its minimum level. This will wipe Augments, Mythic, and Reaper from your items, but will allow already earned Raid loot to be boosted to appropriate values without requiring you to re-run Raids for that specific piece of gear. Weapons with Sentient Jewels in them will need to be unslotted and unsentient to be upgraded in this way.
    2. New Filigree - we'll go into more detail about those further down
    3. Spark of Memory
    4. Adding Mythic +2 / Mythic +4 to the White Plume Mountain raid-level items (Wave, Whelm, Blackrazor, Frostblade, and Angdrelve - as well as their alternate slot variants) that are earned via Schism Shards from Killing Time
    5. Exclusive Cosmetics (NOT CURRENTLY VISIBLE ON LAMANNIA)

So, let's go into the numbers first.

Threads are found at varying rates depending on the tier, relative length, and relative difficulty of each Raid. If you run each of the 11 Raids at cap on Legendary Normal, you will earn 137 Threads of Fate. If you run each of the 11 Raids on Legendary Elite or above (Reaper of any Skull Level will earn you the LE bonus), you will earn 204. For simplicity's sake, we're gonna round down to 125 and 200. Each of these lists first their price in Threads, and then the total number of full circuits you'll need to run to earn the item at that price. For example, an item that costs 100 Threads will take you 4/5 of a circuit on EN, and 1/2 of a circuit on EE+.

    1. Re-acquiring already earned Raid Loot - 50 (.25 circuit LE, .4 circuit LN)
    2. New Filigree - 250 (1.25 circuits LE, 2 circuits LN)
    3. Rare versions of New Filigree - 500 (2.5 circuits LE, 4 circuits LN) + the non-rare counterpart (total of effectively 750, or 3.75 circuits LE and 6 circuits LN)
    4. The Spark of Memory - 500 (2.5 circuits LE, 4 circuits LN)
    5. Adding Mythic +2 - 1000 (5 circuits LE, 8 LN)
    6. Adding Mythic +4 - 1000 (5 circuits LE, 8 LN) + the Mythic 2 versions (effectively 2000, or 10 circuits LE, 16 LN)
    7. Exclusive Cosmetics - 5000 (25 circuits LE, 40 LN)

1,000 Raid Runes of any singular type (ie 1000 Strahd Runes, or 1000 Deathwyrm Runes) can be converted into 100 Threads of Fate in the appropriate Raid Rune vendor list.

Furthermore, we're still planning on introducing a variety of new rewards and incentives to interact with Threads of Fate. However, we hope that these initial rewards at least provide some incentive for everyone to get their feet wet in our restructured Raid environment, and we hope you enjoy taking a look! Please be sure to leave your feedback after trying it all out on Lamannia!

    New Filigree:

We are also introducing a new type of Filigree with U41! These Filigree belong to two Filigree Sets, but fit in just one Filigree Slot instead of two. They fully stack with all other Filigree, except for themselves or their Rare Version. They have double the standard bonuses for their basic and Rare stats.

Treachery/Twilight's Cloak: +2 Dexterity (Rare: +4 Physical Resistance Rating)

Purity/Touch of Grace: +20 Healing Amplification (Rare: +4 Magical Resistance Rating)

Snake Bite/Grandfather's Shield: +2 Constitution (Rare: +4 Physical Resistance Rating)

Hell and Back/Embraced by Light: +2 Charisma (Rare: +4 Magical Resistance Rating)

Celerity/Vigilance: +2 Wisdom (Rare: +4 Magical Resistance Rating)

Sucker Punch/One Against Many: +2 Strength (Rare: +4 Melee Power)

Eye of the Beholder/Inevitable Grave: +2 Intelligence (Rare: +8 Universal Spellpower)

Nystul's Mystic Defense/Electrocution: +6 MRR (Rare: +4 Magical Resistance Rating)

The Blood Feast/Frozen Wanderer: +6 PRR (Rare: +4 Physical Resistance Rating)

We hope that these new Filigree provide some interesting new choices for Sentience, and look forward to your feedback!

Are they Threads of Fate or Legendary Souls?

    Your post calls them BOTH.

    Oooo, this sounds interesting.

One good future use for Threads of Fate would be to rationalize the S/S/S system (although maybe you have other plans for that if and when). But making it so that we can *exchange* Threads of Fate for pieces of the S/S/S items (base items, scrolls, seals, shards even) would be helpful as a stopgap. They would be ESPECIALLY helpful for adding Mythic bonuses to S/S/S items, since you can't really get Mythic on those since they do not drop, they have to be upgraded.

Threads of Fate would also be a good candidate for, say, converting aging mid-epic items with Normal/Hard/Elite versions to a re-scaled version in the future.

So, the new filligree would hypothetically be a way that you could get a 5-piece and a 4-piece set together? It seems odd that you'd purposely avoid most of the sets with 5-piece bonuses, then. Or maybe not so odd, as the 5-piece bonuses tend to be fairly powerful (some, not all, some of the 5-piece bonuses are poo.)

    Looks good!

I like the filigree idea, but please add more or change the sets.

    Just an example:
My main is a sorcerer and he basically can't use the +2 CHA filigree because both sets are not in his interest.
For wizards, however, it is interesting as DC casters use the otto/beholder filigree sets.

So, for me it seems that sorcerers gain no benefit, while wizards do... hmpf :P

Very nice all around... though some of the filigree combinations confuse me (regarding set synergy). Are more combinations planned/in store for the future?

There will be more in the future, but they might not be acquired via this method. Don't worry, this isn't the only time you'll see this sweet tech

The rare sentients do not change much for the best set up for melee.
    5 piece prowess
3 piece sucker punch (with one being a new rare one)
You can run level cap quests for epic xp, but you can't run non-level cap quests for RXP when you're capped.

A Spark of Memory is (currently) a very rare drop from White Plume Mountain that you put into a sentient weapon in order to increase it's max sxp it can gain from 61k to 101k. You still have to feed it items afterwards to gain that sentience experience, but once you get to 100k you unlock an 8th filigree slot.

Since the Threads of Fate are not tradable, repeating Dev comment about looking into not seeing "are you sure you want to loot" on such.

Will we be able to exchange extra Raid Runes we get from running those circuits for Threads of Fate if there are no more items we want from that raid? And if so, what will the exchange rates look like?

    +1 I agree.

Also, great thoughts, and improving S/S/S by promoting raiding is a win+win.

Yes, looking forward to having CitW & FoT converted to the Rune system with some sort of currency perhaps Less Threads of Fate or the like with lower Epic features?

It 5 melee power and 1d6, vs 10 melee power. Basically a wash but I see what you're saying.

Definitely loving the combo Filigrees and more options.

    Using the 3 remaining filigrees,

3 set sucker punch would include:
    1: the new one - 2 STR, 4 MP
    2: melee power - 5MP, (5MP for 2 piece set)
    3: str/dex/hit+dmg - standard bonus, 2 PRR, (1d6 SA for 3 piece set)
    Total of 14 MP

    2/2 set would be:
    1: the new one - 2 STR, 4 MP
2: melee power (Sucker Punch) - 5 MP (5 MP from 2 piece set)
3: melee power (One Against Many) - 5 MP (5 MP from 2 piece set)
    Total 24 MP

You get 10 more Melee Power using both set bonuses, but lose the second filigree bonus (str/dex/hit+dmg & PRR) and the 1d6 SA.

Very glad to see that the cost of upgrading old raid loot is relatively low.

Would like to see the numbers of threads awarded for completions of individual raids. I suspect there will be some differences of opinion about how much each raid should award and it would be nice to talk that through before it's all locked up.

Are the new filigrees available any other way such as chest drops from the raids or anywhere else? Or if not, will they be in the future?

    Thanks.

Comparing Lama with current items. A few raid items (that were in truth overstatted at release) got downsized.

MoD's Epic Noxious took a Spell Lore hit from 17% on live to 15% on Lama.
MoD's Circle of Malevolence Intimidate went from 25 on live to 22 on Lama.

I'd guess this is part of the new scaling system for these items.

Also interesting. Sightless got con upgrade to (17) and sheltering to (45), but it's melee/ranged power is still 6. Shouldn't an L26 raid item at least rival the MP/RP of an L28 quest item at 8? With so few items with this property, probably just not a scaling property (yet).
