You state tomes will drop at 'ravenloft levels' several times. Could you (or anyone else) state what those drop rates are?

Sounds great for raiders, but I cannot care less.

This makes me wonder how powerful Sharn items are going to be.

I like the saga idea. Adding a legendary raid saga that you can turn in with the completion of each raid would be cool. Could add souls as a possible reward (number scaled by difficulty or completion). Can also add some higher tier skill tomes than we can get from the Eveningstar sagas (so at least +4).

Can phlogs be made BTA instead of BTC? LGS weapons are stronger than TF T3, and can be wholly farmed up by a different character on your account.
you can get phlogs with legendary souls who are BTA. And also 'cough' duping 'cough'

In epic quests Mortal Fear can do 50% of a mob's HP.
In legendary quests and against orange, red, purple named mobs Mortal Fear does nothing.

"crushing" seems very conditional based on the quest level and the mob's HP. I could see Mortal Fear as a better weapon in say Breaking the Ranks on high reaper where the 50% HP damage works and the giants HP are crazy high.

I'd say the Mortal Fear requires more raid runs of a raid no longer run to build than one LGS weapon (though there's intent in this thread to help all raids get run which is good).
Kind of sad we didn't at least pressure the devs to make Mortal Fear do *something* instead of *nothing* in legendary. Supreme Vorpal maybe.

I applaud that the devs are doing something to increase the total raid rotation that is worthwhile. Though of course, our happiness will depend on the details. (and we'll complain regardless).

I've always wanted DDO to expand low/mid level quests. If your goal is the TR cycle, having fresh content throughout, instead of just piling on end-game content makes the journey a lot more pleasant, and would encourage players to stick around. I won't even touch content past level 20 until my main has maxed the TR cycle.

Default What I would also like to see

Expand on the idea of Legendary Souls to include.

You can trade in X amount of Legendary Souls (or some other new currency) to obtain a Heroic/Epic/Iconic/Racial past life feat.

I reserve full judgement until I actually see the rebalanced stats on older raid items, but based on the premise of this update I say it is my favourite update in years - something I've been asking for for a long time.

They regularly add content for heroics with almost every update.
I also am on the rr cycle so i understand wanting new heroic level content but nothing wrong with adding end game/capped content also.

    Default The Curve

I've been wanting post on a related topic that now seems quit germane to this discussion.

Essentially, I've been thinking similarly that I want to wear my RL gear (all min level 29 gear) earlier. Even level 28 isn't all that great (albeit better). My suggestion is to re-visit the XP curve in epics. This would allow us to wear the high-end gear LONGER (which is BETTER) than having to wait so long at lower levels. I think that is the worst thing of the current curve is the first couple of levels. It's so long. I'd love to see it back-loaded more for levels 27-30. 600k for that first epic feat has always felt bad to me after the change.

I think if you tweaked the curve on the low and high end in conjunction with the changes shared that you would end up with something even better! You know, chocolate and peanut butter together!!!

Thanks as always for the awesome game. I love the care and dedication from SSG!

Yes, dªmn yes! Great news Lynnabel, yet another ones, which comes in the sequence of all the good work by SSG.
I trust in your good judgement to make this change, so no worries on that side.

Anyways, the Thunderforged crafting should be messed with, as the lvl 28 weapons are not really worth it (especially since all that debacle of nerfing to death Mortal Fear).

Really excited to see what you guys are going to do with this change, but it seems you're on a great path! Cheers

    Question Incredible ... potential?

Similar to Commendations of Heroism and Greater Tokens of the Twelve, we’re introducing a new Endgame Raid Currency in the form of Legendary Souls. Right now, their main use is to turn old at-cap raid gear into new and improved versions. In the future, they will be used for a variety of things, such as upgrading future raid gear or acquiring raid-level items.

You can find Legendary Souls in the end chests of at-cap raids, regardless of Tier. You can also transmute them out of Raid Runes, the ratio of which will be determined by the relative difficulty and the tier of the raid.

We see Legendary Souls as a good and clean jumping off point for future Legendary content, and we hope to incentivize players to run a variety of raids at cap rather than just the few they specifically want gear from. If a player does not need gear from a specific raid, being able to get something regardless is a good step to encourage raiders at cap to run a variety of content.

We recognize that right now the rewards for enfranchised at-cap players might not completely satisfy their wishes for something to work towards, but once the framework is in place we can add more uses for Souls to encourage endgame raiders to try and collect this currency, which in turn incentivizes raid diversity at cap. Legendary Souls will be Bound to Account on Acquire.

Thanks for the update, Lynnabel. Other posters in this thread have great questions, and I look forward to those answers.

My question, which I did not see asked yet, is with regard to Legendary Souls. It seems to me SSG will have a choice here - will drop rates be the same, regardless of difficulty level or will the reward be more for the greater difficulty?

Personally, I think the entire system will be exposed, and fragile, if the drop rates are not the same across the board, regradless of difficulty. If you create an environment, where everyone can be together, regardless of skill level, or expereince, with their underpowered alts, then I think this will be a great change. IF you choose to make it an ancreased drop rate for running harder difficulties, you will see the continued fractioning of the player base. I would say this system has the "potential" to be what Heroic Shroud once was upon a time. But there are very real fail points, particularly if less skilled, less expereinced, casual players are not part of the gameplan.

The key, to me, is to get the vets, the ubers, the casuals, the newbies, etc., all playing together for a healthier game environment.

This seems like an excellent approach to resolving the gear issue. (I just finished leveling to level 29 and putting on my Ravenloft gear. It replaced the level 16 and 21 gear that I was using.)

Now I am feeling sorry for Lynnabel since no good deed goes unpunished.

I am hopeful that there will be some thought given to addressing the level 20-25 gear. I haven't found a good set of gear for low epics (20-25) that justifies switching from the high heroic gear. In particular light and medium armor.
The blinking Drooam "backpack" is NOT a party buff. But its fun to say it is.

Sounds, in principle at least, like this could be a good change.

Will need to see some more details before I can be sure.

    Thanks.
