Default LF Necro Cleric Advice (Reaper capable)

hello, as seen above i need some improvement for Yvo, shes long time been untouched by now, but i see more and more clerics around with tremendous SP pools and DCs to destroy even 8skull mobs somehow…

i wish to be more of use these days, but havent found any good cleric advice nor modern builds here around.

if any of you could show me what ure made of/dressed in id be glad to get some suggestions.

I love my old toon but only standing back healing is meh

Itemwise i think I can get everything needed from out there, be it farming or crafting, so dont be shy ^^

Before SSG drove me away from Clerics, I played a Necro Cleric. But there's been so much power inflation versus mob saves, I'd suggest a bit more generalist than a full-on Necro specialist. The Necro spells will land anyway, and it's useful to have better Evo, Enchant, Conj, Transmute, too.

I don't think DC caster builds have really needed to change a whole lot; just gear updates, mostly, I'd think. Other than some WP tweaks, Cleric enhancements haven't gotten their pass yet.

Not a full-blown build, but some ideas for you:

Race: Aasimar, Scourge, or Deep Gnome. Human also a possibility for an extra feat with a bit less Wisdom.

    Feats like:
Completionist, Arcane Initiate, Heighten, Quicken, Spell Focus Necro, Spell Focus Evo, Spell Pen
(Spell Focus x2 & Spell Penetration allow you to take & twist School Specialist from Magister, Precise School from Draconic, and Spell Penetration)
Wis x2, Embolden, Burst of Glacial Wrath (decent additional CC options; can sub another +1 Wis if you prefer), Mass Frog, Shadowfell, Guarian Angel, + some other Destiny Feat (maybe Deific Warding, or Fount of Life, or Arcane Pulse)

    Twists:
Acute Instincts (carry Rage potions and/or farm a Rage clicky)
    Necromancy Specialist
    Precise Evocation
    +1 Wis
    +1 Wis
(can switch to Spell Pen twists if needed for particular content)

    Enhancements:
    41 DD, including spell pen, +DCs, T5s & capstone
    6 race, +2 Wis
    22 RS, +2 Wis & misc
    7 Bird, +1 Wis
4 left wherever. If you have at least 1 Racial AP, you can swap 7 in Bird for 12 in WP or Vistani and keep the same Wis

    Gear:
5-piece slavers, including Spinneret for Quality Spell Focus
    Fleetfoot necklace
Shadow Caster or House J +9 Insightful Wis armor (same DC either way, craft a +7 Insightful Wis if you are using Shadow)
something with +2 Profane (Epic Litany or Bluescale Guides, most likely)
Nightmother's Scepter, Beholder set and rest of slots with +1 Wis
Alchemical weapon or shield w. +2 Wis in off-hand
    a Reaper +2 stat hat

It's nice if you have at least 14 Reaper points for +3 Wis/DC/SpellPen in Reaper and +1 Wis everywhere

Destiny: EA, with +6 Wis, spell pen, and other stuff to taste. You swap to Sentinel for durability if you're going to be hjealbotting a raid or something.

Not sure exactly how much constitutes "nice" SP pool; other than the EA +10%, SP is mostly just gear.

EDIT: Also Reaper cores give some decent-sized chunks of SP...forgot about those at first.

But reaching Reaper-capable DCs should really not be that big a problem, assuming you have or get the gear. What are you seeing?

I've been doing a different Domain with my racial past life runs on my cleric.

So far my favorite domain (keep in mind I'm enjoying them all for different reasons) has been the Death Domain.

Now I focused for my enhancements with the Dark Emissary as my primary tree. Between the Death Domain and that tree you get a wide assortment of negative energy spells.

Keep in mind that there are some places where negative energy is not effective - Deathwarded and Undead. For Deathwarded you need to use other damage, for Undead go with Turning (I recommend removing Mighty Turning at epic levels due to how at epic Deathwarded undead are immune to turning that has a death effect, but can still be cowered if the instant kill is not a factor)

As a note, I was able to achieve a higher Damage to Spell Point ratio on my Death/Dark Emissary Cleric then I could with my fully geared PM Wizard.

    'my thanks!
it seems i must rebuilt yvo from zero and loose all my dps and flexibility just for high wis and dcs' sounds not so heartwarming^^

Welcome to the world of epic casters that have no dps no its not fun but if you want to be reaper viable at 30

Death warded frog is your go to, Undead implode, undeath, possibly turn undead if the new wpm club works

Even if it just stuns decent free cc

Here is a 17 cleric / 3 paladin air cleric.

    https://www.ddo.com/forums/showthrea...main-DC-Caster

There is also a favored soul build in my sig. At a minimum you can compare the DC to your build to see where the gaps are. Divines have the highest dc potentials in the game, but dc builds in general require significant investment to work.

Your best kill spells are implosion and mass frog neither of which are necro. I prefer to max out my implosion over the necro spells because the implosion dc potential is higher and it kills more things. I tend to use necro for casters and archers so a super high DC isn't needed as much.

Once you get to 8 skull your dps contribution isn't much. Your expectation should be to support the party with dc and healing rather than being a dps machine.

i'm using something similar to SirValentine's mix except 41 DD, 32 radiant servant and 8 aasimar ( I have 1 racial point). the one DC you lose from 5th tier DD is not a big deal, and the 8 aasimar points go towards 2 more wisdom (getting that DC back theoretically) and +1 spell penetration. people love having the aura in reaper, and I can still destruction/destruction/slay living/implode stuff to my heart's conent

If you’re talking necro DC… I’m currently running with a 108 necromancy dc without potions or boosts. High fort mobs in high reaper (r8+) can save frustratingly often, but most other things die with relative ease. So for R10, I’ll drink potions (yugo and remnant for a 110) and for high fort targets I’ll employ boosts (Aueron’s Instruction, Repear boost) and/or debuff with Enervation.

So far… that plan seems to be working extremely well. Quite happy with my build. Good news for you though is that… I’m a crazy person and didn’t max out my spell dc in an attempt to also be a tank. Thus, there are plenty of adjustments to further specialize into your Necro Spell DC.

Here’s what I’m running as a 17 Cleric/ 3 Paladin Aasimar in Exalted Angel (most of the time)

    Enhancements:
    19 Racial / 41 Falconer / 15 Vistani / 16 Stalwart / 1 Warpriest

    Twists:
Magister Spell Penetration, Draconic Spell Penetration, Magister Necro spell focus, Shield Prowess, Wisdom +1

    Heroic & Epic Feats:
Spell Pen, G Spell Pen, Completionist, quicken, Heighten, PL: Wizard, Spell Focus, G. Spell Focus, E. Spell Focus: Necro, Embolden Spell, Empower Heal.

    Destiny Feats:
    P. THF, Mass Frog, Deific Warding

    Legendary Feat:
    Scion of Earth

    DC Breakdown: 108
    10 Base
    9 Spell Level
    47 Wisdom Mod (4 pc Beholder (w/ 1 wisdom) & 4 Wisdom)
    1 Guild Ship
    2 Augment
    4 Reaper Enhancements
    2 Embolden
    2 Scion of Earth
    1 Wizard Past Life feat
    7 Enchantment (nightmother scepter)
    4 Insight (nightmother scepter)
    4 Artifact (slavers bonus)
    2 Quality (spinneret)
    2 Sentient (beholder set bonus)
    3 Exalted Angel
    2 Domain (Luck)
    3 Twist (T2 Magister)
3 Spell Focus (spell focus, greater spell focus, and epic spell focus: necromancy)
    = 108
    +1 Remnant Potion
    +1 Yugo Potion
    +1 Alchemical Potion
    +3 Reaper Boost
    +2 Aureon’s Instruction

    Gear List:
    Head - L. Drow Sage's Cowl
    Eyes - The Masque
Trinket - L. Symbol of the Slave Lords
Neck – Chains (Dex 17, Accuracy 28, Spell Mastery 6, Quality Wisdom 4)
Cloak - Cannith (Cha 15, Natural Armor 15, Insightful Wisdom 7)
    Belt - L. Plateshard Belt
Boots - L. Boods of the Devil Commander
    Arms - L. Mystic Wrappings
    Hands - Cannith (M. Alacrity 15, Insightful Assassinate 3, Insightful Devotion 55)
Ring - Five Rings (Sheltering 45, Deadly 14, Intim 22, Quality Con 4)
    Ring - L. Spinneret
    Armor - Platemail of Strahd
Shield - L. Breaker of Bodies
Primary Weapon – Nightmother Sceptre (Beholder Set, 4x Wisdom +1)

Here are a some things that can be adjusted:
    1. Legendary feat – switch to Scion of the Shadowfell. You can pick up a +2.
    2. Domain – Obviously you can change this to the death domain and pick up +2 more to your spell DC (assuming you take cleric level 18)
    3. Enhancements – You can pick up to a +2 to necro from Divine Disciple with an additional +1 from the wisdom increase in the capstone.
    4. Twists – With a full 20 levels of Cleric, you can probably drop a Spell Pen and Shield Prowess for +2 Wisdom.
    5. Gear
    – Swap armor to Shadowscale armor for a +1 profane bonus to spell dc’s. Will need to find a new home for +2 profane bonus to ability scores though, but can drop the knight set items and move around cannith and/or slave lords items to open up a spot.
    - +8 Necro items exist for a +1.
    6. Depending on enhancement point reshuffling, and using Fleetfoot Necklace, could probably eek out another +1 wisdom modifier.
    7. Feat – Could potentially pick up arcane knowledge for a +6 boost or greater wisdom to help out with that extra wisdom modifier or 2.

Minor note, other than against bugged enemies or enemies with an unsurmountable spell resistance, I haven’t ran across a mob (yet?) with more than a 69 spell resistance. I currently run with a 66 and have not regretted that decision yet as the content that contains such creatures are rarely ran, let alone ran at a level where I couldn’t afford the failure rate. Not a problem if you take some spell pen from Divine Disciple though.

Do all that and you’re looking at a potential increase of +10ish additional necro DC. Which, at that point, kind of don’t need boosts as I’d be surprised if anything saved except on a 20.

    Hope that answers your question(s)/helps.

Considering you are claiming necro DCS this is a very strange build, at least enahancenent wise.
