Default The Call --- to Soundburst (Paladin)

Nerfed in update 42, taking build down. Also don't believe nerfs to pure classes due to multiclassing is healthy for game.

This is where PDK with Divine Presence makes a lot of sense if not running heroics...

    Mmm

Realized we want to fight with strength regardless, since it gives trip resistance, which matters more than 2 damage from fighting off of 3 higher charisma. Swapped to divine might, moved cleric up to get turn undead at level 2. Didn't have this come up on last ranger life, since started at 15 on iconic with AoE stunlock.

Edit: Also updated note on Turn Undead to show turning elementals is difficult. Now we have a death domain - extra turning - mighty turning cleric just in time for catacombs. Heh.

Updated AP and feat swap since can't get exalted cleave till paladin level 3.

Have this build as a human S&B build on live at level 8. So far it has cut through basically everything like a hot knife through butter.

    Living+reapers > AoE stun + command + trip (non-reapers)
    Undead > turn + command + trip

There aren't any robot/plant dungeons until level 12 or so, so I'm expecting good things. So hypothetically, if a warlock is overpowered in reaper heroics, and a cleric in an undead dungeon kills 5x as much as the warlock, what does that make the cleric?

Even if you can get Grace of Battle + Divine Presence to work, divine might is still better because it lets you swap to any weapon or weapon + shield at any time, certain bugs aside of course.

Pretty sure mighty turning applies. I was able to turn (destroy) elementals in druid's curse and the champ one at the end of detour.
Also cleaning end chest of fresh baked dream, that would requiere turning power of 40 at level 10.
And now that I think about it, also those ice ellies in WGU, highest level for heroic reaper.
Description says undeads because it was all that existed when the enhancement was created, but it just apply death instead of cowering to the target vulnerable to your turn.

Elementals are just a pain, specially at lower level on reaper, like in the depths chain. Almost all are turnable with PL and equipement at level. The highest grade I never succeded, missing an effective level or 2. If you run reaper at +2 Aureon's instruction allows you to turn anything.
I just love turn elementals because it renders trivials those DR loaded bag of HP that most puggers barely scratch.

Ooh ok then TY for note. I tried this on a wisdom based ranger/cleric with only a few cleric levels, and it failed, so I assumed it wouldn't work. Maybe it is just really hard to get it to work. Will test end of this life with free feat swap to see what is going on. I really like death domain due to missing turning power from FvS levels, so probably still stick with that overall though.

    Updated note again!

I really like this build and play style!

Would it still be effective build with 17 Cleric and 3 paladin? And would it be effective enough in Reaper?

If you wanted a cleric past life out of a build like this, you could just limit your paladin levels to 5-8, and take more cleric as the final levels. The tier 5 paladin KoTC enhancement Holy Retribution which uses paladin levels to determine DC won't work as well, but you will get a cleric past life. It would be effective enough for reaper, with decent gear. Since you wouldn't get holy sword for epic leveling, it would be better to reincarnate at 20.

This build really is perfect, against the living, undead, elementals, and constructs. Sure, it falls off as it levels, so it doesn't 1 shot a mob in R4 Servants like it does in elite Korthos, but it is flawless in execution, and its' execution of mobs! Heh!

Since it is a vet 3 weekend I tried this out. I only ran elite the frist tries but I needed to drop down to hard at base lvl 10 quests.
Turn undead works fine as expected on this lvl. But soundburst and command don't work that good, more like very rarely. Since this is a test build I didn't use any tomes. I went human started with cha 18 and put my lvl ups in it. I use +5 items. I won't craft for a test lvl 10 gear with insightful.
So maybe you need a lot of pastlifes or perfect gear or I am missing some really bug chunk in your build but it didn't quite worked out as expected if I am struggeling on hard. Do you have some advice?
What are your saves on those spells?
Did you have a chance to make a video. Maybe my playstyle differs a lot from yours?

Surviveability in solo runs is a bit tricky, since the spells and LoH don't really help.

If you walk into elite on a brand new character in starter gear you are going to get rocked on any character and build! Normal or Hard is where you should be on such a character! At level 10 last life I think Tilo was at a 41 save on soundburst in reaper without consumables.

If you are going to DC cast in elite, you need good gear. If you are going to dc cast in reaper, you need even better gear, OR you need some reaper points to offset the reaper saves of low reaper. 7 reaper points gives 3 DCs, and cancels out the reaper 2 mob saves boost.

The only way to get insightful spell penetration without an orb in heroics is with cannith crafting. I use a cannith/slave lord mix. Once you get your gear to be able to cast in elite though, you can relax since a few reaper points will let you cast in low reaper just as well. Interestingly, mobs don't get additional spell resistance in reaper, so it ends up being easier to DC cast on mobs in reaper than elite once you have some reaper (spell pen) points. So you have to gear up to cast in elite, and then it is downhill coasting into low reaper. Once you can cast in elite, your character is basically done progression-wise, so enjoy the time it takes to get there. First life casters can cast in elite, but they do need good gear.

This is what I plan to use for a level 10 set on my next go-around:

Edit: swap gloves to insightful devotion from insightful strength, since divine might is insightful strength already.

I use a level 30 warlock alt for my item farming. It takes about six hours to farm the above slavers set up on a 30 warlock alt, in a group passing named items as needed. It shaves more than six hours off every life. If you make the warlock alt a BF, it will have access to racial reconstruct and can bounce around and level destinies and self heal and will end up fairly effective as an alt to raid or play around with. If the warlock alt is a SE warlock with Feed on Magic, it will have unlimited free mana procs for Reconstruct SLA. The mushroom cap can be replaced with an easier to farm sacred helm, and really the quiver is the only painful thing to farm up.

You don't need all of this. Dawn's Herald Charm isn't necessary at all as you found out, but is nice. Armor could be swapped to No Worries or other armor. A 41 DC is solid throughout all of reaper heroics and is massive overkill at level 10. You should start seeing good results around 30 DC at level 10?

Edit: I have a cannith crafted 15 set of gear as well as 17 goggles.

Edit2: On a helf, with yugos, this produces 44 DC at level 10, or a DC good enough to do R3 all the way through to 20:

I didn't use starter gear but I think I have to move around my slavers gear and maybe craft some to get at least R1 done. I didn't want to do that because I am worried that this won't work lvl 14+. I am thinking about it.

    TY for the tip!

Ya, so I couldn't get elementals to turn on ranger wisdom build, but this build due to turn focus and charisma and more turn gear, they uh, just poof! Heh. As you said, you need PL and equipment to turn elementals.

Here's a tip back. When you are facing rough fights, summon a Celestial Dog. Mobs tend to focus and overkill whatever is furthest away from them when aggrod. With the dog trailing around behind you, it isn't uncommon for many mobs to focus it and overkill it into the ground for 10-15 seconds while you do the same and overkill their caster back line.

I've actually managed to keep a celestial dog alive for 2/3rds of a reaper dungeon. Heh. It's like a minigame now. I should probably pick up some tougher monster summoning scrolls.

Now I just want something for plants and constructs. SoS is alright on constructs as adamantine but I feel there is better. Maybe a GS Freezing ice weapon? DC on that works till around level 15 in reaper. Hmm. Would get one through RL, but not the druids chain.

    -----------------------------------------------------

I've also refined how I pick dungeons when leading groups. I realize I want to play, not lead, even if I have an open LFG and am group leader, so I'm going to just avoid anything requiring actual leadership when grouped. This will include any kill in specific order or die/fail, escort quest, any gather-ish your party quest (permanent lockout , respawning mob, split your party, mobs turn aggro behind) where a new player can spawn a fear reaper and kill u from offscreen, or train you from behind.

    Everything else is fair game.

I tried this on Lam with my main. He got the tomes and best euqipment. The higher I got in lvl - I started out at 14 and made 2 lvl steps - the performance got considerably worse. Default was R1 but I droppped to elite for tougher quests. I soloed all. At lvl 18 I didn't have fun anymore. I pushed to 20 and it was fun again with destinies but at 24 it was back to no fun. I didn't have time to try 30.

My conclusion: It works for certain lvls, that's it. It is a weird build but I can run lower reaper with a lot of weird builds. Heroic low reaper is doable but I wouldn't venture into epics on elite or higher.
Thank you for thinking outside the box. It is no build for me.

Ahh no worries and YW. I've been doing racials and I really like this for that. The more I play it, the more I realize it is perfect, but maybe it is a more for me thing. Did Mines of Tethymar, could break spell resistance on a 1 on some mobs, close to 1 on others, and solo without much difficulty on R3. Some people are misinformed about SR and DCs, and think I avoid this pack.

They aren't hard, as much as long, due to the total HP of mobs in the quest. Edit: Third Times the Charm is both long and hard.

Loaded up 16-20 mule and found a bonecrusher staff. I think it will work better than SoS for plants in druids chain. Just will delay doing chain till 18.

    Default Question about APs

The extra Skill points when leveling, should they be put into Perform to boost the Soundburst? Or is it not worth the points? Thanks for listening.

After the ones listed I tend to do spot or swim or diplomacy. Soundburst doesn't deal enough damage as a spell to be worth boosting. I might try search, and carry int/search gear around for secret doors.

How many racial APs are used? Which race is used? the template seems thought out but the context of how many past lives and what race is backing up this build is lacking or I just didn't see it.

Case in point: If I am just a regular heroic completionist with many epls to go, only 1 Clr pl and no racial AP would you recommend this build?

Breaking through SR is a big issue and you need to gear for that, no? How do myou fit melee gear with SR breaking gear into this build?

I am pondering a ultimate freezing Bard based on Draconian with Breath Weapon + Spinning Ice + Burst of Glacial Wrath, CHA based and stumbled upon your build. But I feel there is information missing, which is nevertheless assumed to be known. But I just can't see it... Anyway very interesting idea and outsid eof the box thinking.
