    Default Sentient experience

I thought the current xp gain was a little disturbing. Feed this weapon other named, non-sentient (aka inferior) items so it can absorb the essence and become more powerful. All this has done for the game is remove 99% of all named items from the auctions and somehow made the level 1 Maul of Vengeance worth 1,200,000 plat. Come on people.... it is a living weapon! It should gain experience from being a weapon not a Hannibal Lecter. Either a "per hit" or a "per kill" experience gain method. Maybe a "per heal" for the lawful good healing weapons :/ OR just plain ole "time equipped" method. It's all good if you are level 30 and raid non-stop to feed this damn thing but a new level 20 has a very difficult time even finding something they can use, may not even be useful if you did, and there is definitely nothing to feed it.

No, it makes people think that the MoV might be worth that much to some other idiot. Has to actually sell before it is.

But I seriously doubt that's why you saw it there. People use the AH as a method for cheap long-term storage - for 0.5% of the base value of an item (for your Maul, that's 2.5 plat) anyone can put an item up for 8 hours for an absurdly high price (say... 1.2M plat?), and then, when it doesn't sell, it goes to their mailbox - and stays there indefinitely.

That does seem an accurate description of the side effect of Sentient Weapons. Named items are gone or outrageously priced. So, yes, you have near-zero chance of buying some named item you actually want to use (not feed) for any reasonable price.

However, it's not an entirely bad thing. People will actually run quests to get more items.

And, if history teaches us anything, it's the the devs are probably not going to change how this works.

The fact that 95% of named items are just vendor fodder anyway makes this not a bad thing to me.

And the few named items that aren't BtA/BtC (Silver Bow and um... yeah. That's all I can think of right now) that are actually worth having are still going to end up on the AH about as much as they would have before.
No one in the world ever gets what they want
    And that is beautiful
    Everybody dies frustrated and sad
    And that is beautiful
