Default FYI Undermine trap bonus (needs to be added to Wiki)

Some friends I was talking with about traps, mentioned the fact that when doing undermine, none of them had ever been in a group that got the trap bonus, so with my trusty rogue I set out to find out why that was, as the info was not on wiki either.

Turns out the reason is its a large number to get it done, and its the mined floor area before you go down the hall to the end fight where you jump from rock to rock to avoid the heavily minded floor.

Traps Needed for each bonus , load up with thieves tools 350 to be safe hehe.

    1st bonus 214 traps
    2nd bonus 275 traps
3rd bonus 339 traps Ingenious bonus 30% xp got an additional 20k xp and with pot and ship bonuses a lot more. was well worth the effort, I just rogued away on traps while the party proceeded on to the end fight , and they still had to wait on me a bit.

Feel free to update this on Wiki if someone who reads this has access.
If you must blink, do it now. Pay careful attention to everything you see, no matter how unusual it may seem. If you look away, even for an instant, then our hero will surely perish.

    Worth the effort?

When the Group had to wait for you at the end?

How long did they wait? 5 minutes? 10?

You could do a whole 'nother quest in that time.

If a Rogue dedicated to just getting the traps {no fighting anything} can't get ingenious before the rest of the party has completed the quest or within say 30 seconds of the rest of the party completing the quest then there's too many traps or the Devs have placed the requirement too high!

I'm not one for XP/Min but Ingenious is NOT worth that sort of hassle/extra time taken - No way! {P.S. I also don't bother with traps in WK - Mainly because of constantly getting shot by Archers but also because you need a trapper in each tower - It's just not worth it.}.

The Devs could halve all those requirements in Undermine and still most groups wouldn't bother - It doesn't need to be THAT High!

P.S. Gratz - Not having a go at you, Just think the Devs could make this less onerous.

    It's nice to know.

For those people with the need to do absolutely everything in a quest.

    .
I know this wasn't the point of your attempt at this and the post, but once you get past this section, all that is left is the run across the bridge (past the shrine), then run up the ramp where the boulder comes down, then the run towards the end fight. That's 4-5 minutes tops to complete the quest once they get past that section.

Maybe you are a perma-death group and were role-playing through and making sure you no one died and taking their time.

4 seconds per disable on 339 traps is 22 minutes
3 seconds per disable on 339 traps is 17 minutes
2 seconds per disable is 11 minutes.

Sorry for glomming on to that one quote... but it taking even 11 minutes to complete the quest after you get past the mine section completely invalidates any amount of "worth the effort" and most assuredly invalidates a "Well Worth the Effort".

There are many quests with unreachable XP bonuses for traps, breakables or monsters killed.

On the other hand, many quests give full bonuses too soon, while there are many traps/breakables/monsters still left in the quest.

Full bonuses should be reachable in all quests (that have traps or breakables), but be reached only when almost all breakebles/monsters are killed and when all traps are disarmed (with maybe few quests as an exception such as this Undermine which could give full bonus for maybe 90% of the traps disarmed).

These bonuses are a reward for top-tier flower sniffers, and exist to promote flower sniffing. They should not be reachable by grinders and fast runners.

If anyone is doing a flower-sniffing run, he should take note of those anomalies in quests (you can write in your character biography page) and then write them somewhere in the forum so they can be fixed.

That info was on the wiki it was removed a couple months ago for some reason.
It's also slightly variable or changed slightly at some point from 2010.

What kind of Santa Claus sized bag of trap parts did you drag out of that quest?

I seem to recall some oddities from the past. Many moons ago I was getting tons of trap parts from there. Then they changed it so we got none. What is the status now?

"""MY INTENT" with this post was to share the info so someone else didn't have to spend a lot of time figuring it out the hard way like I did, and if running plain elite or less where the party would finish fast it would not be worth the wait,

I'm pretty sure if done at level on a reaper 10 grp my rogue would have the traps done before the end fight was finished lol. but outside of that they do need to lower the number ot traps being done for the max bonus, I was just surprised no one had grinded it out to figure out if it was broke or just unrealistic trap goals, which was the case. My goal to get it on wiki was accomplished and hope it saves anyone else from having to mess with it unless they need fire trap parts, in which case that's the Mother Load.

We didn't mind waiting. It was pretty cool to be able to say yeah I've been in a group with someone who got all the traps that one time.

As for how long it took, I would say we only had to wait around 15 minutes or so. I am glad I didn't sell those thieves tools though...
