Default Bowhealer - A Divine Arcane Archer with legendary CC

Hello, my goal is to find the ideal Build that has full healing capacity and can crowed-control legendary elite mobs reliably. Best case scenario would even be a safety buffer for future mobs with higher saves.

After some testing I am set for 41 points into the elven Arcane Archer tree and WIS as a main stat for CC DCs and to hit. Damage could either come from DEX (elven Grace or DWS Improved Weapon Finesse) or STR (Bow-Strength + Divine Might). Strategic Combat II from Harper for INT-to-damage isn’t an option because there aren’t enough action points for this. As one has to invest a minimum of 14 action points into Elf for AA anyway I think going for Grace and Skill is the best option. ED will be Shiradi mostly* because of Nerve Venom and more WIS. And the extra damage from Shiradi uses the same spellpower as Scion of the Feywild.

*Edit: Any +WIS ED is playable, sometimes the extra healing from Exalted Angel is more useful than the little extra damage and extra CC from Shiradi.

This build got the best DCs on the AA imbues so far. Damage with elemental arrows is OK if you have the gear to boost spellpower (not much spellpower coming from the build itself).
DC Breakdown for my build (You can get higher with a better tome and temp buffs. Couldn't fit in Wizard or Bard pastlive either)

    Base: 20
Wisdom: 26 (from a standing 62 WIS, further improvements possible)
    Arcane Archer: 4
    Elf: 1
    Spell focus: 3
    Embolden: 2
    Scion: 4
    Augment: 2
    Spell focus item: 7
    Insightful item: 4
    Epic Twist: 3
    Ship bonus: 1
= DC 77 for the arrow imbues

A Difficulty Check of 77+ on every paralyzing arrow hitting a target combined with nerve venom, pin and whistler is very solid CC. Terror arrows are fun to use too and get you some cred on the killcount. Damage on rednamed and bosses is OK-ish with the elemental imbues, the good doubleshot chance and manyshot. I would even say the damage is solid for a CC focused healer. A big bonus compared to my caster cleric is that I don't need spellpoints for anything but healing and buffing.

The DC of the arrow imbues of the Radiant Archer isn't any different from the build above, easy to get a 75+ DC on every paralyzing arrow. Because Arcane Archer comes from ranger levels instead of Elf AP this build has way more flexibility than the bowhealer enhancements wise. This boils down to less damage (no racial damage, 25% less doubleshot from AA cores, no AA tier5 like Slaying Arrow) BUT you have the AP to get tier 5 enhancements from another tree like Radiant Servant or Warpriest.

My third Healer with Bow CC buid, a bowsoul. Idea was that if if don't have the AP to spend on cleric trees anyway I can go Favorite Soul to get far more spellpoints. Compared to the Bowhealer cleric build there isn't the option to get stalward defence. But as a Archer and healer one should stay out of trouble anyway. If I ditched the monk levels and took a 1wizard/3fighter split I would lose one more feat but gain the option for the defence stance again.

You might want to look at my Shake `n Quake thread: the idea was to have Paralyzing Arrows + Earthquake + Nerve Venom for "ultimate" CC, while still being a good backup healer (Heal, Regen, Mass Gtr Vigor). It's all just theorycrafting so far and it might be spreading itself too thin, but maybe it will give you some ideas.

Thanks for the hint, BowDruid was something I was concidering too because healing over time aka HOT mixes better with weapon use than instant heals do. But I think I will go "main healer" + CC here and most players don't see druids as "main healers". Other games have more hots and like them more because instant heal = heal when HP are low and HOT = cast when you know there will be major damage inbound.

One question is if 15 levels of cleric and empowered mass cure critical/heals with decent gear are enough on the thealing side as I won't have much AP to spend them on Radiant Servant. But from what I read in Axels THF cleric thread I shouldn't worry to much about this. My pure caster cleric is probably overkill healing-wise anyway and I can assume people will have some healing amp when running legendary elite.

Another possibility to consider if you want Radiant Aura: cleric 15 / rgr 4 / <splash> 1 which takes rgr AA tree instead of racial. Downside is you can't take the higher-lvl AA cores or T5, so your ranged DPS takes a big hit; upside is you only spend ~26 APs in AA for T4s (vs 55 min if you want racial AA capstone), which leaves a lot more free for other trees. It also lets you go human for extra feat. You lose Mass Heal with this split, but the consensus seems to be that it's too slow even with Quicken to be useful more of the time.

EDIT: don't forget that Radiant Burst can be meta'd for free, while Radiant Aura is only affected by Empower Heal (and Positive Spellpower, of course).

This split is a great idea, but it doesn't fit my personal playstyle with a lot of moving around. When I run with my Aura on I am the only one getting healed from it. But if I have time left I will make a RadiantBow too.

At the moment I think I will go 3fighter/2monk and will see if I can get a meaningful reflex save for evasion and defect arrows. Both do more for me in LE than PRR or HP as I get oneshoted in melee no matter what on my pure S+B ceric. That was why I started looking for ranged builds.

CC druid that's basically spamming EQ, divine wrath and puts mass regens when seeing 1st damage (or when melee is going to mobs) is overhealing.

If you want to have a character with LE CC and heal capability, druid is best, if you really want to do it with bow for fun/flavor, forget I said anything
Anyway, druid is as good as, if not better, at healing than a cleric, and probably a bit above fvs.

I wouldn't worry about mass heal- its a nice tool to have for AoE removal of various bad status effects (altough mass resto also does it nicely), but its slow and usually overhealing greatly.
But 9th spell level contains energy drain- extremally high DPS for mobs without SR.

Made that build and called it "Radiant Archer".(Second post now). Looks good as a level 15 iconic, full healing and great CC. DPS has to come from the party, but that is fine with me as I am looking for a healer+X build anyway. When Lamannia is up next week I will look how this is at level 20

Did some more testing with the 15cleric/3figther/2monk build and I have two major questions now:

1.) Is it worth running in light armor and use evasion. Reflex save will be 60-70. Heavy armor gets me more PRR and I can get +20% HP from Tenacious Defense.

2.) Mass cure serious is weaker than I had expected. Only hitting for around 250 on toon without healing amp. Standing at 450 positiv spellpower and have empower healing on. Maybe I will stick with the Radiant Archer build and invest in Radiant Servant. Or take 17 levels cleric and use mass heal for "mass full refills"..

Dunno. But if you use Buckler or Light Shield, you can have both Evasion and +20% HP.

EDIT: unbongwah makes a good point below.. duh :/

And this is relevant to an archer cleric because...?

Did some more practicing and test but I am not settled on a final build yet. The best build at the moment would be a Monk star chucker exploiting the AA imbues, but I will stick to bows for now. Next thing I am going to make is a 16soul/2figther/2monk bowsoul. Embolden raised the DC of AA imbues and that frees a feat as I won’t need greater and epic spell focus enhancement anymore.
Anyone knows an item that raises divine caster level? I only found items that raise the caster level for a school or arcane spells.

Edit: Third post has a bowsoul build now.

No, the Bowsoul Build is just a level 15 iconic now and I hope Lamannia will be up soon to test it at levels 20-30.

But overall things are looking good. I added the DC breakdown and all variations of the build can get 75+ DC on the arrow imbues easily. Bowhealer (Elf AA) has better DPS and no points spend in Radiant Servant while the Radiant Archer (Ranger AA) build gets the healing aura and extra caster levels to cure spells but is lacking a bit behind bow-damage wise. (No AA tier5 and doublestrike cores) Both builds (and probably the Bowsoul too) are doing fine paralyzing legendary elite mobs, it's a question of DPS vs. healing power.

Is the BowHealer build still do well in the current endgame?

I make the Bowhealer builds for the current engame and I am still working on them. A healer + CC build is only useful in legendary elite and more or less a waste of a slot everywhere else.

My problem now: Lag is so bad that noone runs legendary elite anyway. Can't improve the builds further at the moment. Elven 14 cleric / 6 monk(cher) was the next thing I was going to test. 10k stars should be good on a wis-based bulid, even with only six levels of monk. But that build will be so tight on feats, hrrrn..

Radiant Archer lists a starting Dex of 16, a +4 Tome, and no levelups for a total of 20 dex, but then takes Combat Archery. Should that be a +5 tome?

Also, the planner should be flagging the Feats list as (Errors) due to not meeting Combat Archery dex prereqs. Is it not?
