You just have to appreciate what is still good. From my childhood, I have a well developed sense of appreciation for what I have that is right and good because I've seen so much worse. When everything seems to be going wrong, just list to yourself all the things you are happy with and grateful for... the good always outweighs the bad when you really think about it. The bad just seems so immediate, it looms over you trying to make you feel like you're sinking. Example: My son sometimes doesn't eat all his food or any at all when he's being picky and I tried to explain to him about when I was a little kid and my mom lived paycheck to paycheck how sometimes we had just one meal a day because we just didn't have much money for food. And I'm explaining this to him but inside I'm just really, really grateful to know that he doesn't have to experience what its like to go hungry and weep because you spilled some of your food.

I guess I should share more of the good here.

My son has shot up almost half a foot this summer. My daughter has so many teeth coming in she's starting to develop a second row like a shark. We laugh, the baby teeth are all wiggly so they'll come out soon but its looks very funny. No one in the whole family has Covid, and so far no one I'm friends with has had it either. Actually, no one I know personally at all. But then I'm not very social. Totally unimportant good but something I'm grateful for anyway... I actually had a very, very sweet watermelon this summer. Its been a long time, years maybe, since I had one that was actually sweet. I saw a pair of doves in the backyard the day before yesterday. Doves are just the sweetest birds.

Hubby wasn't offended. Those nurses were trying their hardest to take care of everyone, Dad too. Remember Dad would not wear his mask, would not stay in his bed, would not stay in his room. Kept ripping off his monitors. He didn't have anything contagious but he could have caught something from someone else, wandering off. I know they keep hospitals as clean as they can but cross-contamination is a serious issue, MRSA is a serious issue and the place most people get it? Hospitals. They just wanted to treat his infection without him catching anything else because he wouldn't behave and stay in his room.

I didn't meet any of the night nurses but the ones I met were as concerned for him as they were exasperated with him. I understand his behavior was worse at night though.

    Because this is cute...

My daughter was playing this little game on her Ipad (Christmas present) its some kind of girl's Princess story RPG lite. Basically its a little like SIMS and a little like choose your own adventure where you start out as a princess that has to behave and learn how to be kind, and be a good ruler, but you can also be adventurous and perform heroic deeds. Anyways, she finally "won" the game today which entails a coronation ceremony for her character where she becomes queen of all the land.

So as she's telling me about winning and being crowned she says "Mommy I'm just bursting with happiness! Can I burst with happiness?"
I say "No, you do NOT have my permission to BURST. You may inflate with happiness instead."
So she puffs up her cheeks like a chipmunk and squeals with joy while dancing in place.
So now I'm just sitting here, remembering the moment and still tearing up from internal laughter.

So sitting paying bills and prepping to pay the ones due over the weekend and enjoying all the good feelz one gets when doing so (yes, sarcasm), an advert for Southwest airlines comes on about their $85 flights.

    Good timing on their part.

Flip open a new tab and throw in the info for a trip to Idaho. (haven't been back up there since 74) Open another tab, open up Hotel site. They have discounts going on as well - win, win. Pull up a nice resort hotel right on Couer' d'Alene lake, with best pictures of room and lake view. Set the time for a couple weeks in late Sept, hoping the worst of the C-bug will be dying down by then. Then call the wife in...

Who'll take care of the cats, I don't have that much leave accrued, I can't take any extra unpaid time, etc...

    *close tabs*

Welp, maybe next year. Again. Only been saying "next year" for... 6 years now.

Sitting here now re-evaluating some of my recent life choices. Again.

    <.<

    >.>

*Opens tabs back up. Checks prices for single traveler.*

Oof... my brain said Cerberus the Horse edition.

Do you think they will ever come up with more mounts besides just variations of horse? I'd love for my dwarf to ride a bear or owlbear or a warboar. I know its very impractical but it is fantasy. A non-winged drake or Kirin type mount would be highly desirable too.

Lighter note? How are Princess Bride quotes not light and filled with the child-like wonder and innocence of Fred Savage?

For the picture, that is a nice horse, of course. Very interesting having mounts in DDO now, not a thing at all when I played. Airships were the newest addition and very interesting in their own right.

Perhaps they've "known too many Spaniards" or have nothing to swear by? Or and I know this is very improbable but just maybe someone may be unfamiliar with Inigo Montoya and the Dread Pirate Roberts.

Princess Bride should be required watching before you play your first RPG.

heard back for one thing. got rejected for dorm housing. not really upset about it tbh, considering that there were only 5 spots for men, and like 15+ applicants.
in fact, it lets me get my own apartment. should hear by August end whether i'll be going this year or the next, depending on how welcoming Japan feels towards other countries.

I should've taken a short vid of it. With each horse doing it's "I'm bored standing here" thing, the heads were all looking back and forth at different times. Very cool animation effect.
