    Edit1: The very first version had a copy/paste error in Arresting Assault, if you downloaded it.. the text was wrong. Now fixed.

    Don't bother; races are hardcoded in the planner. The best you could do is add the trees and then repurpose some existing races to have the enhancement tree and stat bonuses of the new races, but of course you'd then lose the original repurposed races.

    However, it's not out of the question that I could make races and classes addable just by editing data files. I'm pretty sure the last time I looked at doing that it didn't seem overly hard.

    I just yesterday did my first actual work on the Lite tools in months, and I kinda liked it. I'll try to get an updated version out when Sharn gets released in a couple weeks.

    Thanks ED. I actually spent a bit of time yesterday in your source code and realized that it was more than I wanted to tackle. It's been quite a while since I worked in Visual Basic so I found myself spending more time trying to dig my coding skills out of a box in the basement rather than fixing a game tool. Glad to see you are back and playing!

    Update that I'm not on track for a release this coming week in time for Sharn. Hopefully the following week.

    On the plus side, it's not for lack of effort or motivation. I've been working hard on my lite tools for the past couple weeks, and really into the work I'm doing on the Compendium. None of the sharn changes are in yet; I'm hoping that by the time I'm ready to release, wiki will be updated with quest favor and saga rewards for the sharn stuff. If not, no worries, I'll add "???" placeholder data and post a second update when I get all the data.

    Please remember that SSG have introduced a +2 racial AP tome. So the max racial AP's you can get now is 14 (with tiefling added). SSG also introduced a +1 universal AP tome.

    Yep, thanks much, I probably would have missed that. I'll be sure to add it in.

    The utilities let you set the max tome values in Data\Tomes.txt, as well as the levels each + takes effect. So you can go ahead and kick the Racial AP up to 2 on your end right now. But again, I'll update it for the next release. (Just now made the change on my development version.)

    The global AP tome isn't in yet, but it shouldn't take me too long to implement it.

    EDIT: Tomes.txt is shared by both Character Builder Lite and the Compendium, since both let you apply tomes to characters.

    Just to make sure you're on the same page, the Universal Point Tome gives you a point which can be used only in universal trees(like Harper, Falconry, etc.) not a global point to be spent wherever you like.

    I would really like to thank you for all your work you have put into this over the years and your continued work in it.

    i use it weekly to update and modify builds for my wife and kids. it is an awesome tool in being able to have the builds in an easy to read format to print out for my family to follow. it has been a real time saver and a key to me keeping my sanity on having 40+ toons to keep track of for my wifes toons and my 4 kids toons straight. you are a miracle worker and keeper of my sanity in this game of niche builds.

    Ah, yeah, my bad. That's the internal name of those types of trees in my planner. (Race, Class, RaceClass, and Global.) Looking now on wiki it appears the official term (at least for the tome) is universal, so I'll use that when displaying text for the user to see.

    Depending on how long my work on the Compendium takes, I may or may not release an early update just with updated Sharn stuff (races, quests, sagas, AP tome, etc...) and possibly no compendium update (or partial, maybe?) so I can then work on the compendium without time pressure.

    Look for a post this weekend or Monday for either a firmer timeline or an actual (albeit partial) update. I can probably finish what I want to do in like 10 days or so, but it could balloon to 3 weeks. One thing is for sure: Game of Thrones discussion has absolutely destroyed my past four Mondays, including this one.

    This is what I'll do.

    Look for a data update for the new quests and races either later today or tomorrow. I expect another couple/few weeks of work on the Compendium before I can release the new features.

    [I've posted an updated version that doesn't appear to have this problem. - 05/25]

    I tried posting an update but there's a problem, so I have temporarily removed the download links. If anyone downloaded it in the few minutes it was up, it appears to delete your compendium character data so I would strongly advise against running it.

    EDIT: This is super frustrating. If I download and unzip the release I posted today, running the compendium (which is the same exe from Jan 30) erases all characters from the currently active data file. If I then restore that datafile from a backup and run the compendium again, it works fine.

    I have no idea when I'll have this fixed. Hopefully soon.

    New version is up. I've edited the release notes a few posts up. (It's linked in the "What's New?" help topic in Character Builder Lite.)

    This is essentially just a data update: Inquisitive, Tiefling, and Tiefling Scoundrel added to CBL, Sharn quests/wilderness/sagas added to Compendium.

    NOTE: There shouldn't be any problems but you may want to make a backup of your Save folder before unzipping this new version.

    I'm not sure what the problem I had before was, but I was trying to cheat and use the previous compendium version. This new update uses the current version of compendium, which doesn't appear to have any problems but is still in a bit of a "development" state. Notably the Tools screen, which has a couple new features but isn't polished yet.

    The "abbreviate columns" feature in Tools => Options is fully implemented, but the quests list font is not. The feature works, but changes aren't saved to settings.txt so it will always default to Arial Narrow 10 on startup.

    If any issues arise I'll patch them quickly, so let me know if you see anything. Short of that, I'm looking to have a Compendium 2.0 release in the coming weeks, possibly a month or more. I'm very excited about the new Compendium features (which are unavailable/hidden in this current version) but it'll be a fair amount of work to finish it off. My plan is to take a week off and then dive back in full force.

    Thanks once again for all your hard work! Didn't delete my Save folder, just FYI. Two things, though...

    1) Security Detail is worth 5 favor (I just fixed the wiki). (And for those who don't know, you can go to Data > Compendium and edit Quests.txt to change this until Ellis' next release.)

    2) With the new favor patron, the Total Favor window is a smidge short, and I don't see any way to resize it. Is there a way to do this that I'm missing, or is it something that you need to adjust?

    Looks like it's not auto-sizing correctly, though it is on my test files which have fewer characters.

    That's something I have to adjust in the program; I'll get that fixed.
