    Default Swim build

I'm looking into high swim builds because swimming super fast is fun.

Class: Druid 13 at least for Water elemental (+20 Swim) and Merfolk's Blessing
Sorcerer 1 for Water Savant tier 1 enhancement Fluidity (+6 Swim)
Race: Human for Athletic enhancement (+3 Swim) and extra feat for viability outside of water

    Breakdown:

    23 Base
    8 Epic
    4 skill tome
3 extra Epic Skills feats at 21,24,27
    4 GH
6 Exceptional bonus to Strength skills
    3 Airship
    20 Water elemental
    3 Skill focus feat
    2 Athletic feat
    3 Athletic human enhancement
    2 Good Luck augment
    6 Fluidity water savant enhancement
15 Item (up to +20 with Aquatic bracers or Skullduggery belt)
    8 Strength modifier (26 STR)
    20 (more?) Merfolk's Blessing

    ---
    130 total sustainable

It looks like someone with better gear (EE aquatic bracers, more STR, temporary bonuses like potions/boosts) could reach 150-160.
Did I miss any skill bonus sources?

Also, what are good swimming locations?
Stormreach Harbor has the ocean, Eveningstar has the river with strong current, there is a lake in Stormhorns and Vale ... what else?

Curious, is there a cap on swim speed?

The nice thing is it also helps you while flying (Reavers fate/refuge), so with this build you can be my lever puller

The funny thing is: Some bard levels, this becomes a very strong build. 12/6/2 Cleric/bard/fighter. Fighter for some feats and weps, bard for swash, cleric for battleclerics and whatever else you can cram in there.

Yeah I had a good laugh when I saw that thread back in the day.
Showed me I missed a +2 from Luck bonus.

The highest Swim I've experienced so far was around 80-90 and it was really fast, I'm guessing there is no cap. A very high swim skill wouldn't be game-breaking like a very high Jump skill.

you missed the human skill boost ...+4 to all skills for 20seconds....you could also use Alchemical pots to get +3 Str Skill boost http://ddowiki.com/page/Potion_of_Bull%27s_Skill

    More
    - Shadow Mastery Twist from Shadowdancer +1
    - Primal Scream (rage STR +5 twist) = so +2
    - Epic TRs - Skill Mastery x3 = +3 points

And I could see a STR focused druid13/barb6/bard1 hitting 80 STR without too much invested....so another 27 over your base.....(actually not 100% sure here since I am not sure if you can be in rage and in ellie form.....just never tried it so it could be as much as 9 less STR so 4-5 less skill bonus)

So another 40 ....160 total Woot.

    Default Divine Might

If you are going simply for an ubber swimmer then I would have Cha as your second stat and splash cleric to get Divine Might to further boost your strength with your Cha Bonus.

Water elemental give a +20 competence bonus, so it unfortunately does not stack with gear.

Barbarian/cleric or fvs, with maxed str and the rest in cha for divine might, plus gear and whatnot.

Nope you are wrong - just tested it - 54 in dog form - 74 in water with a +13 item on.

I expect that it is a racial bonus since it mentions that in other things in the Wild Form description (it actually doesn't mention swim in the tool tip.

Must have been changed at some point over the past year. I'm sure it didn't work last summer.

If it works in Abbot's iceroom challenge, that would be a nice side benefit too.
I think the top Swim i had was approx 60-70, and it was very fast.

    Hi,

Well, I don't think you are serious if you're doing this without the completionist feat.

It's a lot of work, but totally worth it to be the best swimmer you can be. Now get to work.

    Thanks.

I'm looking for sustainable sources so I don't have to drink 10 potions and click 5 boosts to swim fast for 20 seconds.

Thanks, that's the kind of bonus I was looking for

    13 Druid, 1 Sorc, rest 6 levels

Manual of Stealthy Pilfering upgraded gives Luck +3
Titans Grip - Clickie +6 Profane STR.
Skill Tome Swim +4 (cards or ddo store). (+4-+5 upgrade) maybe in AH)

    Class: Monk
    Fire stance +2 STR
Grandmaster of Forms increases to +4 STR.

Does the monk / Barbarian innate movement speed get factored in for swim?
Jotmon - Let's not forget why we play these games - to have fun - ~
Guild: Degenerate Matter - 200 (Former Guilds: ChaosKnights, Big Damn Heroes, Shadowfiends, Order of the Drow, Unusual Suspects, Raided R)
    Argo-Jotmon(HC 28/42,EC 26/36,IC 12/12), Jotmonheals(Clr17/Rog2/Mnk1-EC 32/36), Whatthetruck(Raid farmer-2nd life).. and many many more alts..

Update 24: Champions... "whew, it's ok, it's only a red name" .. sad day when trash spawn Champions and their one-shot ignore fort attacks instill more party fear than the Red named bosses.

Sprint boost makes you swim faster, so probably it does.

So instead of druid go 18Bard/2barb maybe (+28% standard runspeed + 50% action boost)?
In any case 2 Barb is highly recommended.
