    No idea what you are talking about. You are saying that to probably one of the few guys who has had a Sorcerer since I started DDO and never changed class even once. But sure, go ahead. You are amusing at least.

If I did some research I could probably find more examples of non-blue bar healing options, those are just what popped into my head while reading that/typing this.

    Are they perfect for every character in all situations? No, ofc not. But we're talking about a raid mechanic here that's currently only used in one raid - it's not like you're in there alone, and many of those options can be used to help others. Not saying I'm fond of the SP drain mechanic, but it's not like it spells utter doom for a pony with more than one healing trick.

    the amusing thing is that you are stuck on relying on your sp bar. you must be a joy in groups.

    you have been answered already several times. you are the one choosing not to accept additional options and using tactics.
    Gary Gygax quotes

    The essence of a role-playing game is that it is a group, cooperative experience.

    There is no winning or losing, but rather the value is in the experience of imagining yourself as a character in whatever genre you are involved in, whether its a fantasy game, the Wild West, secret agents or whatever else. You get to sort of vicariously experience those things.

    Role-playing isn't storytelling. If the dungeon master is directing it, its not a game.

    When AI approximates Machine Intelligence, than many online and computer run RPGs will move toward actual RPG activity. Nonetheless, that will not replace the experience of "being there" anymore than seeing a theatrical motion picture can replace the stage play.

    The secret we should never let the game masters know is that they don't need any rules.

    Don't tell other players to use "tactics" they don't appreciate it.

    You're wondering how to manaless self heal on a Sorc? Not only is UMD almost a given, but (if I'm correctly guessing it's a robosorc) then it's not even needed for Repair Wands & Recon scrolls (which can be alternated, and even throw in a Repair pot if you're that badly hurt) and that's in addition to lovely toys like the Master Artifice ring with regen, a proc for Recon, and even a Recon clicky for that "yikes" moment. Especially if you're Bladeforged, any mana clicky (there's actually a lot of those) will quickly get you a racial Recon. Geeze, I thought maybe you were compaining from the stance of a PM Wizzy or something that has much more limited options (but note they do also have options).

    Damn, I'm jelous! Not a single one of my characters has been shown the kind of loot favor to get a SoS. Hells yeah, if you're going into a situation (CitW raid for instance) where you know ahead of time that you're in all likelihood going to be drained of SP - repeatedly, so pots are a waste - then walk in carrying an alternative gear set for meleeing. Personally, my caster always keeps his - but I've also indulged in all the purchasable inventory tabs so I have the space. Anyway, when I get whammy drained (or for some other reason get sucked dry/run out of SP - **** happens ya know) I go to that out-of-the-way hot bar and click-click-click all my melee gear into place, use a Tenser Scroll (along with Titan's Grip clicky, etc...) and give it the ol' collage try. Is my DPS comparable to a real melee? Of course not, not even close; but I sure do a whole lot more contributing than that poor dude over there feeling useless. Man, I'ld love to add a SoS (or dare I dream an ESoS?) to my caster's melee set...

    Now excuse me while I wander off to arm myself with Grilled Cheese Sandwiches and hunker down behind my Armored Beer Refrigerator, while I have the UFO's take control of the Congresional Wives with the help of the International Cocaine Smugglers and the Evil Geniuses for a Better Tomorrow - btw, do you have change for 10 million population?

    I actually kind of liked that mechanic. The whole point was to simulate a dragon flying in the air, trying to kill us. Perhaps the damage was too high, but I'm saddened that they removed the entire mechanism from the raids. Now it's just one dragon being cowardly and leaving their lover to die, then both dragons being cowardly and leaving elementals to die. It's become a very easy raid.

    ^This.^

    They were already taking it easy on us just blasting one spot on the ground - real dragons would've strafed along most of the field.

    Yah I agree. The problem was not the mechanic but the damage was over the top
    I think a dragon shooting fireballs is an awsome mechanic. It should have been easy to deal with even for casuals on normal. An issue to be considered on hard and you better cover your ass on elite.
    Normal=4d100 with 40reflex
    Hard= 7d100 with 50 reflex
    Elite=10d100 with 60 reflex.

    Unique mechanics make raids interesting, just keep it in perspective.

    So basically every raid made since MOTU?

    This is what I was wondering too. Pre-MoTU we had so many raids but all were different and fun to play. MoTU killed them and introduced bore-fest raids. At least the shadow dragon raid end fight is unique but the way to the top is just meh.

    How about turning this into positives, which raids have which positive qualities?

    Yeah, I have pet peeves too. The biggest is probably the effort to get a Cannith raid started. Now going to get some popcorn and wait for the inevitable whinging when the raid does come out and people refer back to this thread saying "but I told you I didn't want X".

    Think I'm beginning to get it... you meant "promote" as in "to help (something) happen, develop, or increase" focusing on quality(ie. make individual people better) instead of quantity (get more people to participate) while I was thinking of "promote" as in "to urge the adoption of; advocate; attempt to sell or popularize by advertising or publicity" so quantity over quality I guess
    Well, guess that's valid but not exactly the word I'd use, at least not without specifying further, maybe something like "promote more advanced self sufficiency" or something...

    I think Epic Elyd Edge easily out DPSes an ESOS on a Cha based Sorc (except you are a PDK and take the Cha to Attack/Damage from enhancements for which ESOS would qualify as a greatsword).

    There's not much point in meleeing when you only get misses/grazes.

    I dunno. I kinda like the way FoT is set up. Got some distinctive stages of the fight that tactics need to be use. Some good flavor. And it can not just be zerged down. If the raid is uncoordinated or careless it will fail. Prolly the best post-MOTU raid.

    However I do agree. Two or 3 arena style raid zones are enough. We need some multiple step raids like shroud back!

    IMO CITW was a bad raid. With all the escort problems. Loot dependent on the npc. Targeting issues on loth. Horrible drop rates for length of quest. It could have been better but it was overly ambitious.

    Oh don't get me wrong. FoT is a good raid IMO. But we have FoT and Firepeaks already as arena fight style raids. And yes, despite being setup in a simple way they require quite some coordination, which is all good.
    But for Epic Orchard I really hope for something more complicated than that.
