Default Looking for Artificer Ranged build

    Hi all,

Coming back to the game after a 2 year hiatus. Looking to play a ranged Artificer to play with 4 of my friends. I have 32-point build available and would prefer NOT to play warforged. I am considering purchasing the Drow race if that race is the most viable.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Don't bother buying drow; you can unlock them easily enough thru Favor. Besides, a 32pt Dragonmarked halfling is arguably as good or better than a drow: drow has higher INT, halfling has some self-heals and sneak atk bonuses.

    Sample first-life ranged+caster build:

32-pt build can start either CON 16, STR 6 INT 18, or DEX 17 INT 18. [Main reason to bump up STR a little is to avoid getting Enfeebled into helplessness, particularly at low lvls.] Need to hit DEX 19 by lvl 16 for IPS and DEX 21 for lvl 24 for CA; adjust base stats based on what tome(s) you actually have.

Heighten is just for the AT SLAs; if you decide to skip them, you can swap Heighten for something else, like Insightful Reflexes or Empower.

    my arti does pretty well
    8 rog/6 rng/6 arti

crossbow most of the time with ranged attacks from arcane archer(slayer arrow) and deepwood sniper(sniper shot)
manyshot when its off cooldown, not worth using untill 3 hits per shot

16 dex tome+level=21, rest in int
    16 int
    14 con
    14 str

most feats are auto grant so i personally took 5 toughness but you could go with +saves or whatever else takes your fancy

I am sure it is possible to make a thrower build using Artificer if you like tossing shurikens--maybe 12 arti, 3 monk, 5 rogue; max out Dex, self-cast Tensors, buff the shurikens with arti power, lots of bonus ranged feats.

Thank you for the build. And thanks to the others as well, but I'm more interested in playing pure 20 arty.

    Any suggestions on the enhance?

That's up to you, though I would suggest investing enough into halfling to pick up Lesser DM (CSW) ASAP; Maximize is mostly there to boost Least & Lesser DMs as well as the AT SLAs. Then it's a question of whether you focus on ranged DPS (BE) or caster (AT); or try to split evenly.
