Default Secret door DC in 'casual' Haunted Halls?

So, I'm doing a second solo run through of Haunted Halls, but this time on 'casual' standard (not extended/commentary), because I died like a dozen times on 'normal' in my first run through - lol. Had a great time doing it though - real old school feel and mechanics.

Anyway, I kill the boss, finishing the adventure (again this is the non-extended version) and go to the room next to the boss room that has the small pile of gold in it - the precursor room to the slide down to the mummy room. Apparently there are two secret doors in there, one to the mummy room, and the other to the hallway that leads to Miior's room. I found the one to the mummy room with no problem...but the other one...whew...what kind of a DC does it have?? I had a Search of 70...yes, 70...and could not get it to show itself (glow) so I could open it . Again, this was on casual. Has anyone ever got it to open? Or is it a bug?

Thanks for any insight on this.

On normal I know I can get the door with my pure wizard, think his search is in the high 60's, haven't tried casual.

This was also on a pure wizard character. It was only level 27 though - is there some level requirement to find the door? lol!

I ran it on casual with a level 22 bard whose Search is completely neglected. All he had was True Seeing and perhaps a Search item. Had no difficulty finding secret doors.

Doors are "seeable". Keep in mind this is a level 28 quest on Normal. On Casual it's 27, IIRC. Expect the DC's to be in the 70's. I know it's at the highest an 83 DC, as I've forgotten to put my Search item on and still found them on EE with an 83 Search.

At least it's not EE Brothers DC's. Those are tough (100 DC on EE, IIRC)

BYOH. Know it, abide by it, or don't mess with those who do.

Most of the secret doors in Haunted Halls I can find with no problem, this one however must be in the mid-70s as you suggest. Maybe it's time to invest in a better 'search' item.

I would bug it. Boosted into the 50's I can find Mioors room on normal.

The two secret doors in that room leading to the mummy are supposed to have different DCs, yes.

The secret doors in Haunted Halls vary in their DCs. Some are easier to find, others are harder to find, and most cover the spread in between.
That's intended to allow a gradient of different builds that can have varying levels of success in finding secret doors, rather than a Pass/Fail of whether your build has a Search skill that's greater than X or not.

That's good news. You all need to do a lot moar of that.
There's too many easy buttons in the game, simple mechanics like this help squelch them (a little)

Can see why there was/is a need to change Detect Secret Door/True Sight mechanic with the release of Haunted Halls.

Haunted Halls would have been ruined without it.

    Thank you in hindsight.

It's totally true, I have a reliable source. You better reroll now.
