Default New ship buffs not stacking with guild slots

The new ship buffs don't seem to be stacking with the old guild slotted items.

I hope this isn't WAI, as it seems silly to irritate people who collected those things when they provide such (relatively) minor bonuses to begin with.

If this was mentioned by any dev, a quote/link would be much appreciated.

Bonuses of the same type don't stack.

I'm very much aware of that, but the only advantage of those things was that they were, at the time, a unique bonus.

Releasing new buffs that don't stack with a discontinued mechanic doesn't seem to make sense, especially since they left the vending system intact.

I would disagree with you here, I would say once they discontinue a mechanic (especially over a year later) they don't have any obligation to plan for that in future content.

Actually it makes a lot of sense as a discontinued mechanic is no longer fully available.

Turbine employee says: Hey guys, how about we spend our precious and limited development time creating a new type of bonus so our entirely new mechanic stacks with that old mechanic that we haven't updated in years?
    Turbine boss says: You're fired.

Is it possible that, since it is a discontinued mechanic, that it was simply overlooked?

No, even though guild augment items are no longer in loot, the mechanics of the system are still active so it has to be on the development list of active systems in the game.

Good point. If the HP buff is one we didn't have with legacy shrines, though, this should be a good thing, no?

    I agree with the OP.

I have a nice ring that no longer stacks and now is useless. They need to fix this issue. Guild bonus items still have a vendor. Why?

I earned that ring because I have been playing this game a long time and it is a privilege to own that ring. They need to stop giving new players grandfathered in gear bonuses.

What's next? They go back on their word and give everyone Elite Cultist Masks available in the Store that give a bonus to all skills. You know the one we got from pre ordering Underdark. It would not surprise me that they may do something like that.

I dunno. I just hate it when this game keeps going down hill every update. Having the availability to have all buffs on our ships regardless the size of the ship. I mean common, really?

On and On I troll. I should have never came back after beta, I hated beta and knew this game was run by tunnel vision, backwards thinking, never think of the what ifs, amateurs. Ban me, I don't care. I don't log into the game anymore anyway. This game is not worth my time.

A bonus doesn't stack based on its external name, it stacks based on the internal code. They presumably knew what they were doing when they made the new buffs not stack with the slotted guild augments, because in order to do so they would have to assign them the same internal variable.

I don't think they have an obligation to plan for anything, but I DO think that making something that has always stacked not stack when it isn't a balance issue accomplishes nothing but annoy the people who collected said things.

I can understand how such a change can be annoying, but exactly what did the guild HP augment stack with that it does not stack with now?

As I'm sure you realize, I think people were hoping that the augment HP and new amenity HP would stack and are disappointed. Sometimes the developers let such things slide which creates false hope for future changes.

You all know if Turbine does fix this they will do so by removing the npcs that sell the guild augments right?

TBH I wouldn't care as I have way too many guild augment gear that is taking up precious space. lol

Isn't the plan to phase all that out eventually anyway?

Do you mean that you hate this game since Beta and, since beta, you come to the forums from time to time to remind everyone on how much you hate this game ? Because, iirc, beta was a very long time ago, like 2006. Dude, the games I hated 8 years ago I even forgot their names.

OP, I highlighted, underlined and italic'ed the part that proves it does make sense.

Now more seriously, why would bonuses with the same name stack ? Because they were hard to acquire ? Is that your point ?

And how exactly does this make you worse off? You have access to the same buff as before and you free up an item slot.
