Default is bard enhancement blow by blow working?

I've noted that the "blow by blow" attack (3d6 sonic) using a "+3 Shock Adamantine Returning Throwing Axe of Bleeding" is not doing sonic damage.

    From the combat log:
(Combat): You attack Witch Doctor Kneeza. You roll a 17 (+25): you hit!
(Combat): You hit Witch Doctor Kneeza for 1 point of electric damage.
(Combat): You hit Witch Doctor Kneeza for 3 points of damage
(Combat): You help Witch Doctor Kneeza with Threat.
(Combat): You hit Witch Doctor Kneeza, but did no damage.
(Combat): You hit Witch Doctor Kneeza for 17 points of slash damage.

I tried multiple times on different enemies. The sonic damage part of blow by blow never did any damage.

Any bards using different types of weapon see similar results?

Well I cant make Resonant Arms works with PA sooo do you have any toggles turned on that might prevent BbB activating ?

Resonant arms is working for me.

And the only toggles I have activated are Swashbuckling and Precision.
( though I noted the blow by blow issue before I got precision )

I do tend to also maintain a constant "good hope" and "blur" spell effect.

I've also noted the same results when using a "+2 Holy Silver Returning Throwing Axe of Righteousness"

I should also mention that both the text ("+0" ) that appears over the enemy on the screen, and in the combat log it does show "blow by blow" activating. But the sonic damage inflicted is always zero.

(Combat): You hit Witch Doctor Kneeza, but did no damage.

    -----------------------------------------------------------------

I've also noted that Swashbuckler Style II with buckler doesn't work with ranged. "You are not holding the right weapon" Though this might be WAI.

I've noticed that, too. It should be delivering Sonic damage, but I've seen zeroes as well.

For my part, I'll observe that attack a bit more closely and bug report it once I confirm it on my character.

    Another bug I've found:

Deflect arrows via the Swashbuckler Enhancement Tree never processes.

I decided to check to test it out because I never saw it processing and confirmed what I thought wasn't happening. My Swashbuckler character ( equipped with his returning throwing axe ) went to the sands to find a skeleton archer and I watched the combat log. I dodged, he missed due to armor, and sometimes he hit. But I never deflected a single shot.

On the more amusing side I did see:

Combat: You hit Unholy Arrow with Knockdown

about 20% of the time that the arrow missed me.

Does that Knockdown proc as often as Deflect should? Maybe it is working, but has the wrong description string.

Having a monk character with it. It processes 100% on the first shot and not at all on the following shots until the 6 second timer expires. I'm pretty sure the knockdown is from the Swashbuckler knockdown-if-missed ability.

Blow by Blow is definitely not working right. "+0" in white lettering with every swing of blow by blow.

I believe the +0 effect is related to the threat reduction. I'm guessing the number is a visual display of your threat being reset to 0 with that enemy. If you look more closely, you'll see the sonic damage below, along with related weapon effects such as acid damage and such.

The best way to test what's working and how well is the unkillable magefire cannon in the guild ship Tactical Training Room. You can keep hitting it forever, but it is considered a construct, so you need some kind of fort bypass, such as Precision feat to test criticals. It's part of a large amenity available for a level 21+ guild ship. If you don't have one, I imagine it would be easy to put up an LFM and get invited to a high level ship for test purposes. I've used it to test sonic damage procs many times, and it's quite an asset over the old training dummy that takes 50% more damage once you beat it down and makes number crunching more difficult.

The swashbuckler knockdown effect and arrow deflection definitely work, but have such a long cooldown that I opted to spend the AP in other areas. It's just my personal style, so if you really like them, they are definitely working as intended, but I'd rather get a couple more points of all-purpose melee power from Harper tree for the same cost.

This still doesn't work. Atleast not for ranged weapons. I just did some test. I had Blow by Blow ranged on on level 2 which should give me an increase of 2 in threat range. The improved threatrange is not working on the training dummy. The sonic damage doesn't proc on anything. Instead i get "... but did no damage". Test results shown below.

Edit: I just tested it on melee too. Same result.

Please fix this. My repeater Bard could really use this.

(Combat): You attack Blood Tide Skulker. You roll a 14 (+29): you hit!
(Combat): You hit Blood Tide Skulker for 7 points of electric damage. - Rune arm
(Combat): You help Blood Tide Skulker with Threat.
(Combat): You hit Blood Tide Skulker, but did no damage.
(Combat): You hit Blood Tide Skulker for 24 points of pierce damage.

With a throwing dagger. Threat range 19-20. should be 17-20 whit blow by blow ranged:
(Combat): You attack Training Dummy. You roll a 19 (+17): you hit!
(Combat): You roll to confirm a critical on Training Dummy. You roll a 2 (+18): Critical hit resisted!

(Combat): You attack Training Dummy. You roll a 18 (+17): you hit!
(Combat): You hit Training Dummy for 3 points of electric damage.
    rest is left out.

Repeater. crit range 17-20 (improved critical) - should crit on 15-20 with blow by blow:
(Combat): You attack Training Dummy. You roll a 16 (+33): you hit!
(Combat): You help Training Dummy with Threat.
(Combat): You hit Training Dummy, but did no damage.
(Combat): You hit Training Dummy for 29 points of pierce damage.

I was just playing my long neglected Bard last night, and I noticed the same thing. A 0-damage graphic display after the base weapon damage number, and the same "You hit Blood Tide Skulker, but did no damage." text in the log. Mine was all melee, though, so I don't think range or melee matters.

I was getting the Deflect Arrow procs, though, or at least the "Deflected" message on screen.

I can confirm that. I have "Blow By Blow (Ranged) (1/3)" and never do any sonic damage. Always the +0 damage and same in combat log. I believe it is bugged.

It still is but at least the ranged version has double the listed crit range addition which puts it on a par with Sniper Shot. Not great but something.
