Default Reading a +6 Tome at level 7 and it grows with you

As it stands, if you read a +6 Int tome, right before TRing, you would get expanding effects as you level. At level 3, since it's the first level you could use a tome, it is treated as a +1 tome. At level 7, it jumps up to a +2 tome, etc., until you get up to whatever level you need for a +6 tome to take effect (23?). How about making it so normal tomes can grow with you too. Read a +3 tome at level 7, and you get an immediate +2 bonus, that becomes the full +3 at level 11 (the first level where you could have taken a +3 tome).

Turbine, Thanks for a super-fun game!

I agree, tomes should have no ML to read. The bonus is already locked to your level.

    For this reason, /signed

Edit: that doesn't mean I'm in favour of current in game drop rates of tomes in general, and doesn't mean I'm in favour of them being in the store in the current way. If anything, in game ones should drop more often, but be ML as they are now, and store bought ones should have no ML but apply as you level. That way you are actually paying for convenience rather than it being disguised as a convenience purchase by effectively pushing you into paying cash by extreme unlikelihood in game. I'd be far more likely to buy them if they were a bit easier to get in game and a TP version was no more powerful but more convenient to use.

/signed. all it does is sell more tomes.

however, if this is implemented, i'd like a blurb in the stat block saying what the largest tome you've eaten is. I forget sometimes :P

/signed read tomes early now that they're already regulated by level, and a small blurb as you hover over the stat that says of (# of highest tome) so we'll be able to tell
Current TR project -- Anshel life 8 of 20 ending up FVS
Side TR project -- Daciana (life 8 of 14 maybe)(Will be completionist druid)

    This would be nice.
Jotmon - Let's not forget why we play these games - to have fun - ~
Guild: Degenerate Matter - 200 (Former Guilds: ChaosKnights, Big Damn Heroes, Shadowfiends, Order of the Drow, Unusual Suspects, Raided R)
Argo-Jotmon(Completionist - before the Otto's/XP pots easymode), Jotmonheals(Clr17/Rog2/Mnk1-Epic Completionist), Whatthetruck.. and many many more alts..

Update 24: Champions... "whew, it's ok, it's only a red name" .. sad day when trash spawn Champions and their one-shot ignore fort attacks instill more party fear than the Red named bosses.

If you hover over your ability score on the character page, it tells you the "tome effect" for that ability.

Is that what you were talking about?

only if you are already at the level the +x applies unfortunately so before level 11 you won't be able to see if you ate an +2 or a +3 ....

But Turbine won't change this. They make much more money selling the newbs a +1 supreme at level 3 and then a +2 at level 7, etc..

Store Tomes should have no ML.

Dropped Tomes Should have an ML.

That way people would not try to save +6 tomes for their level 7 alts or what have you. As it stands in game, if you are high enough level to farm it, you are high enough level to use it, and that works.

Store Tomes should not have an ML, which would be smart, as that would increase the options for players to buy higher + store tomes at earlier levels.

This is a great idea (and +1 to the idea that you should be able to see your eventual max tome bonus as your level up a TR)

I'd also like the idea to apply to skill tomes.
    UDR Loot Rules:
    1) No griefing people for pulling loot that dropped in their name
    2) When rolling, classes for which the item is "useful" get +10 to the roll
example: Wiz and Barb both roll on a Torc, the barb saying "I'm TRing into an arcane next week"
Wiz gets +10 on his roll
