    Default Amnesty day

Discussed elsewhere, but I think this is a great idea. If you want to attract players again, you know what you have to do.

Basically, over at the secure facility no one can name, he made a thread suggesting that Turbine have an Amnesty Day where all content is free to everyone for 24 hours. He figures lots of people who haven't been playing will flock to play stuff they couldn't play before, and maybe lots of new people will come along as well.

And this is exactly why you dont discuss good ideas on ddo forums.

Then we wonder why ddo is so messed up as it is now..

It's a good idea, but it's not an amnesty day. It's a preview day. If you call it "amnesty day," you have people thinking you are talking about letting exploiters do...something...and that's not a thread I want to read (again).

And the reason people would do it is to see if they want to play without having to invest in paying for content they aren't sure they want. Businesses do it all the time. It's just an extension of the ftp model, really.

Calling it Amnesty Day would be poor word choice.

Perhaps in could be Free for All Weekend or something like that.

As they now want to include events as "Bonus Days" ^that^ would be a stellar choice!

    "a month-long weapons amnesty"

I think it would be neato if DDO gracefully discharged the TP requirement for content and granted everyone a weekend of free. Hopefully your idea reaches the right offical that can make it happen at Turbine.

I know what amnesty means and also how to use google or a dictionary, thanks. You're just not thinking about it carefully enough.

The word FREE (in caps of course) may draw more attention than the word amnesty. Amnesty has a negative connotation to it in the context of DDO due to exploits and bans and such.

Also, if a company was going to spend resources on advertising something like this, I’m sure they would want to stay away from any politically loaded language.

EDIT, forgot the people part. It may catch more peoples' attention if labeled FREE.

Isn't it only your opinion that it has a negative connotation. Besides that, the word amnesty is less common and so would draw more interest.

Free is so common and abused c.f. Free to play. An event called free day would be absolutely meaningless to most players.

Good idea but horrible name for it amnesty gives the impression someone did something wrong and is being forgiven

A better name would be Independence Day and have it on July 4th as some else suggested
