Default Negative level spam makes me never want to play non-WF ever again. Ever.

So sick of it. Yes, there's ways around it, but I'm just tired of dealing with the negative level spam that happens in the later levels of the game. DDO's magnificent RNG pretty much ensures that you're going to fail a roll, and it's all downhill from there.

Mostly just a rant post, and I apologize. I'm just very frustrated with the game right now because I'm on life 6 and for the first time I decided to try human instead of WF. God what a mistake.

It's annoying but if you can keep up Deathward (via certain hirelings, Visor of the Flesh Render Guards or Potions from Eveningstar Cleric turn-ins) and it will prevent it.

Whereas I carry 3 of these:

Alternatively, make sure you've got plenty of (Gtr) Restoration handy.

Maybe try putting away your "easy buttons" for a while and learn to play the game?

I guess you now understand why Deathward is a "gimme" buff in raids and parties. Kind of reminds me of a guy that used to only play Paladin's. Tr'd into a different class and rage quit due to "Everything in this game casts fear! It is unplayable, I QUIT!!!!1!1!!one!"

OP, let me give you some heads up, WF/BF are not immune to negative energy (ie. harm, necrotic ray hitting for 900 damage in EE POP) so eventually you will have to get used to having deathward even on WF/BF characters, might as well start getting used to it now.

Well you have to admit, we are the player base (well casters) spam enervation, energy drain, and wail for the neg levels. Why wouldn't the stuff we are fighting do the same?

So I'm guessing you simply used Deathblock during your WF lives to prevent Instant Death spells, but surely you ran into Harm/Inflict spells (Arcane Skeletons). Sometimes it is good to trade races/classes to do two things:

    1. Understand the weaknesses
    2. Remind yourself why you picked the path you did

Both will give you a much better appreciation of the Opportunity Costs of your choices.

Like I said, I understand the ways around it. I'm 99% a solo player, and I'm just tired of dealing with it. And before anyone throws their hands up in frustration, yes, I know that the game isn't designed around solo play, and that I accept the added challenge of choosing to play in that manner. Again, my OP was mostly venting my own frustration.

And trust me, this life has definitely made me appreciate WF immunities.

Well you have to admit, we are the player base (well casters) spam enervation, energy drain, and wail for the neg levels. Why wouldn't the stuff we are fighting do the same?
Because this isn't a PVP game, mobs aren't players, mobs don't EVER run out of spellpoints, nor do they even use the same DCs and resists that player characters do.

As I said, I'm mostly a solo player. But even in groups I don't find any enjoyment from the ridiculous broken nature of taking on EE runs. The game becomes far too binary at that level of play.

This is why I prefer the hunter of the dead prestige for paladins I'm not a huge fan of playing a warforged. Not really happy about teaming with them usually either when I play a divine. But that's mostly because I kept getting teamed with warforged with Improved Fortification, who then yelled at me for not healing them on my druid, favored soul, or bard.

I try to have as many UMD characters as possible, because using scrolls is just so cool.

You can teleport, heal people, return them from the dead, cure negative levels and other things that don't go away with regular potions, cast spells that are usually only for casters ...

You encounter a beholder, you get hit by 4 neg levels, you hide behind a rock, you get your Greater Resto scrolls and poof! you're back on your feet, take that beholder! Your death rays don't mean nothing to me!

Depending on what your umd score is, 4 negative levels can prevent you from casting greater restore scrolls.

For 3 medium eberron dragonshards you can get a greater restoration trinket that doesn't require umd. It has 20 charges, and can't be recharged.

Deathward potions are not only available from cleric coms but also from necropolis collectables and motes of night during the Mabar festival.

After about level 12, you can always find a divine hireling in your level range that can cast the deathward spell. If using a hireling bothers you, just have it cast deathward then park it until you need deathward again so it doesn't help in any other way.

You can only get one silver flame talisman per life, but they are not exclusive and if you get another one on a tr life you can carry and use both.

    Default Yup

I can't remember which update it was, but a long time ago, this wasn't really a problem. I'm pretty sure that mobs used to use energy drain more sparingly.

I ran Jungle of Khyber, and remember getting energy drain spammed like no tomorrow by the beholders just after an update a while back. It was like nothing I'd ever seen before. Perhaps the frequency that energy drain is cast should be lowered.

This is my first life where I decided on TRing into a non-fleshy - a bladeforged - and simply cannot get over how much I love not getting neg leveled. Go team!
There are only two types of people that I hate. (1), necrotic wizards, and (2), everyone else.

Truely understand your complain. Hated it, But there are alternatives to WF .

Tweaked classes with cleric for Radiant Servant - Positive Energy Burst or high UMD skills for Greater Restoration scrolls.

I just started to love Shadowdancer epic destiny Tier 5 - Sealed Soul (Passive Bonus: Grants you immunity to energy drain) - worked fine last night standing next a red name beholder laughing at it... Deathblock cloak ofc equipped.

    con based throw weight around
    warpriest for ameliorating
radiant for light guard AND lots of turns to use as burst that kill neg levels
Always in defender stance with a gs dwarven axe , choppin beholders :-)

Or take a Halfling with their racial dragonmarks - theres a tier 2 enhancement that removes one negative level per 3 seconds (as well as poison and disease) with a duration equal to your heal skill so eeven with just a +15 heal item itll remove 5 negative levels, if you've made any kind of investment into heal and have decent wisdom you can easily get it to heal 10 levels, and you can cast it at least twice per rest, 3 if you've also taken greater dragonmark of healing.
