    Default Looking for help

I am writing this hoping to appeal to someone's good nature. I have a Monk (like) build and of course I want the ToD rings. This is my first Monk so I am pretty much scraping everything together for future lives.

Problem is I don't have any idea what I'm doing in The Devils of Shavarath quests. I end up burning way too much time and effort (and resources) trying to solo the content. I've tried to get a group but end up sitting there without a single bite. I would really like someone with a mic that can kind of explain to me some of the intricacies of the quests. I understand that I'm late in the game, I stopped playing for a bit and missed this stuff almost completely. I also understand that I may need to run these quests multiple times to obtain what I want and I'm prepared to put in the work, I just need a little help with understanding the runs individually.

I love this game and I really like most the people in it; that said I know beggars can't be choosers but if you have low patience and are not willing to show me the nuance of the ToD quest line then I respect that; If you do however I would greatly appreciate your help.

Please either message/mail me in game. I will adjust my schedule to try and fit with yours. I live in Alaska and I usually play from midnight (Alaska time) to around 6 or 7 am on the weekends sometimes longer. I usually play a little everyday, just not a lot of questing (high level) on weekdays since I'm at work on a laptop.

The wiki has pretty thorough walkthroughs on the shavarath quests. Do you have any specific questions?

Hey, not in your timezone so can't help, but here's some advice. If no one's responding to your message, sometimes it's best to just put up and LFM with the text TOD flag, or something similar, chances are, someone who knows the quests will join sooner or later, if not, it's easier to explore the dungeon(s) with a group. Second thing is, check out the ddowiki, there you can see varios walkthroughs as well as hints and tricks to do these quests. Last but not least, there are numerous youtube vidoes of those quests and you can always learn them by watching. Hope i helped and good luck with the quests!

I'm not in the right timezone to help either, but have you considered running them on Casual just to get some familiarity? It might not be possible to finsh them all that way, but you might be able to complete some, and it will at least give you something to do if you don't have a party.

The wiki walkthroughs are pretty good, and there are youtube videos (at least for some of them, maybe all) to give you a sense of the quest flow. I'll just add in a few quick summaries:

    - Sins of Attrition: straightforward combat, some traps. About 1/3 to 1/2-way through the quest, you choose an item that determines which end Boss you'll fight. As it says on the wiki, the Orthon fight is probably the easiest. Note, I use to run this on Normal with a cleric hire on my gimpy first-life, 28-point ranger and complete fairly easily.

    - Bastion of Power: also pretty straightforward combat. The layout of the quest can be a bit confusing and the map isn't that useful. You need to locate a number of levers to unlock gates as you make your way to the top of the Fortress. Portals throughout the quest respawn devils. End fight can be tough, as you need to kill the Devil boss, and then a rednamed Demon with a bunch of supporting trash demons.

    - New Invasion: Combination of devils, elementals and constructs. A few places where you need to jump down a hole and can't return. End fight can be very challenging, especially for a melee fighter. You're basically in a circular room with a track around the perimeter, fighting a Pit Fiend. If you stay in one spot for more than a few seconds, a trap goes off. There are also anti-healing curses, can't remember if they come from the traps or the Pit Fiend, but they're an added difficulty either way.

    - Genesis Point: I don't remember this one as well, but I believe it has a forced party mechanic - I think you need one person to throw levers for gates that are a significant distance away

You don't need a group or a hire to run Genesis, it's soloable (and the easiest one to solo in Shavarath too).

    Cool

Realized I didn't put my in game name:

    Tardcore

Thanks for all the responses I really appreciate it. I have managed to complete a couple of them but surely not in the most efficient manner

I am continuously on wiki. I watched a couple walk-throughs and have learned a lot. Just always better when you can ask a question.

Again thank you all, if you want to run these with me, I will be on heavily this weekend except Saturday morning.

    Hey Trugaard,

I'd be happy to run you through all 7 of the quests out there and explain each of them in great detail. Maybe we can even bring Jinx (he's my guildie) along. I'd be available to run them this weekend, most anytime. If you need a bravery bonus, I'll be in the level range to do that.

It's great to see people who take initiative and try and learn and understand, we need more people like you in the game! If you'd like, we can duo all of them and really dungeon crawl. In fact, I was already planning on doing that for the Web of Chaos and MoTU quest chain this weekend!

The toon I'll be on most of the time is Ranit.

    See you this weekend!

Make him bring Jinx, meeting Ranit alone in the middle of the night may end with an interview with Chris Hanson.

When you get in game type /joinchannel clawchat
I monitor that quite often so speak in that channel that you need help and we can try to help you. Most in CLAW are willing to help if not caught up in other static groups or raids..

Also my toons that I usually play are Warclaws, Warsclaw, Draginclaw.

If you haven't found a Monk guide I've compiled to help for newer Monk players and with other common questions, including the ToD rings, look for that in my signature below. I'm outside of your timezone as well, but I can give you some general tips for Shavarath:

    • Bring a Silver+Good weapon. Metalline of Pure Good will be necessary against a couple of Demon bosses in quests and the raid. Good-aligned is needed for most non-bosses.
    • Bring poison neutralization potions. Pit Fiend poison is supernatural and your natural poison abilities will not stop it. It can kill you if you let it linger.
    • Stealth can be helpful to avoid attracting a lot of attention. Use Shadow Veil if you're a Ninja Spy or have trained the ability, and add Hide/Move Silently items to avoid some fights.
    • Light Monks are naturally better against demons and devils but Ninjas can do just fine with the right weapons.
    • You'll need to also run quests to gain four ingredients for the Boots of Anchoring, which prevent you from getting kicked out of the raid by being banished back home.
    • Any of the ToD rings will work for unarmed Monks, not just the class-aligned ones.
    • You'll also need to run the Shroud to gain the ingredients used to imbue the rings.
    • Do read the DDO Wiki; it's the best overall resource for most of the quest questions outside of getting a guide.

    Default Thanks to all!

Hey all of these posts were not only helpful but also not condescending. That may be the best response I've had for help ever!! RL included LOL.

Seriously though shout out to "Ranit" who helped me without leading me around like a puppy. It was cool of him to do that on the East coast because he stayed until like 4am on a work day. Gracias and anything I can ever do to help you; consider it done.

All the above posts had some stuff I knew and others I hadn't heard. I was able to finish a couple on Elite and the rest on normal; plus I got my boots and am ready to be put to the slaughter in the raid.

I feel like I said thanks like a million times but I mean it.

I hope this game never goes away. Alot of it has changed over the years some good and some bad (IMHO) but it is so unique that I really cannot enjoy anything else because I compare it to this.

FYI, IMO Wildstar and ESO are not very fun.
