Have not had lag issues so far since U21.1, except for the memory leak bug where the game gets increasingly harder to play the longer I run w/o restarting in between. But no sudden crashing lag atm.

Any more information on where, when and how the lag spike comes? Tried to uninstall the akamai netsession client? This tool sometimes gets regarded to be a p2p software by some service providers and they then automatically decrease the bandwidth you may use.

the lag appear everywhere and every a bunch of sec, i move for 5 sec then game freeze, then move for another 5 sec and again lag spikes that cannot move......already disinstalled akamai the old pando both ddo and lamannia client and done a brand new installation....the curious thing is that immediatly after the update i can play fine......after 3-4 hours got hit with this lag spikes in the middle of soloing tangleroot elite on a lowbie

wow that sounds like a memory leak. when it hits, log out, quit, and restart. if it goes away, that's a memory leak. can't do much about it but file a bug report, but at least you'll know it's not you.

the character switch leak is still alive and well, so it's not like there aren't any known memory leaks in the client. sure would be nice if turbine spent half as much time on their client programming issues as they do on some of the other stuff, but then, they've never fixed the ladder bug, which is server-side, so i don't hold out much hope.

one more thing i can think of, it's helped me some. start the client, log in, minimize, and start the task manager. whack the akamai netsessions. 7 threads for s dumb in-game browser is nuts. so long as you don't use the in-game store or browser, you should be fine. and afaik if you do use the store, it'll just restart them (which is what it should do to begin with, turn 'em on when you need them, then turn them off, since they're used so infrequently, but i'm sure some upper-level management hack would have a fit if they did that).

Please check if your computer over-heats or has another issue with hardware. Please let some 3D grafic heavy demo run and monitor your system (could be done while playing DDO too) and check with the task manager monitor (and with the DDO ingame network monitor) on system performance and network performance.

If this is definitvely not your fault, you will have to open a ticket with the technical staff at Turbine. Do not expect too much from them, though.

    Edit:

Should be visible from the System Monitor too, when your memory is slowly filling up. With me, I have memory leak over time, with lag building up slowly. On 8 GB RAM, this gets annoyingly to be felt after about 1 hour of play. But I do not have this 3-4 hours of play and then - boom! Check with the system monitor, please. If system memory gets hogged up over time, it is memory leak. Consult with the technical staff at Turbine, but again, do not expect anything useful from them... It´s a recurring issue with DDO, actually. We already had this several times before. it then get´s fixed and bam, with the next update it´s back again ^^.

pretty sure that is not my fault, since till 3-4 hours before i can play normally.....that just suddenly happened....and on the other side the pc seem to work fairly well so, already done a ticket and the already told me that they are working for this lag, but they may be refer to raid spawn lag related issues, not to this

Since when exactly do you have this recurring problem with DDO? Exactly since the update 21, since yesterday / U21.1? Did you have such a problem before? Do you play another game and if you do, could you please try to play this game for the same time, for a test (about 4-5 hours, if possible) - this all just to make sure it is on the DDO side of things.

Please check too, if the occurence happens upon always the same trigger event, e.g. you get into a certain instance of the game or something like that?

As I understand you, you are able to play normally and all the sudden, you get the lag spikes. If this is memory leak, it occurs seemingly when your system switches from RAM to hardisk memory - is that a possibility? If this is related to memory leak, all that helps is giving your system a break from DDO for about every 3 hours and restarting the game afterwards...

Got your Network Status Icon up?

What does it say when you hover over it during these lag spikes?

Take a look and share the info.

If it's lag, you'll normally see packet loss and a slight (to major) increase in ping.

    Default Yes

Formed a group on Monday evening to do some quests in The Orchard.

One of the pick up players said they were experiencing a lot of lag. I talked them through shutting down the Awesomium processes in the Task Manager. After that they still had the bad lag and left the game.

I am having periodic yellow latency icons, and occasionally the game doesn't recover, goes to red latency and crashes.

Not to dismiss anything, but it's always worse after updates and patches for a few weeks. 5-10 second freezing latency (50-60, with sudden jumps to 70 or 80) is happening a lot, as are big lag spikes in parties. More severe than what I've seen in the last year, but the frequency is about the same.

I've DC'd at least once or twice daily since U21 (as opposed to *maybe* once a month since the fall on a fresh, preloaded client), which IS unusual, but it could be tied to how severe the latency's been.

What server and time of day does it start? Maybe on G-land during peak you get this?

Personally, no lag since update. And I have played many hours as I was doing slayers in Vale and Gianthold and got from 300-5000 for vale.

Yep, why I am asking the OP to let us know what he see's with the Status Icon. Will help in finding out a root cause and where he needs to direct his energies in getting it looked at.
