Default DDO Stormreach: old memories roster

Playing DDO from launch i have seen so many transformations and new things that i hardly remember what was in the past.
Past that should not be forgotten but that should not be an excuse to be stuck in it.
Many new features and game changes are awesome but anyway many other things are lost and will not return.

    Do you remember when...

DDO started with the cap at level 10? (amazing to see that after 8 years we are only at level 28...)
Stat +1 tome was a chimera and to get it you should have collected 1750 total favor ?
you could have evasion with heavy armor (against one of the core rules of Dungeon and Dragons) and fixed only after billion of words and complaints?
The Vault of night was the first update?
    Europe and USA were segregated?
The butcher path was a nightmare?
Muckbane was the most wanted weapon?
Hours of waiting for a cleric in party? Yes, because without a cleric you could not go anywhere.
The Titan Awakes, the most bugged raid id the DDO story, but anyway so incredibly challenging?
not existed the "BYOH" but existed a lot of "NO RUSH?" in pugs?
was really a social game with millions of pugs to choose from?
you spent only the subscribtion rate and saved a lot of money?
    (to be continued)

+2 tomes dropped in the end rewards for threnal south, and they stacked for a short time.
you had to go through "the wizards stones" quest to get to stormreach.
"old sullys grog" quest was hard as heck.
we had to go through " the low road " at first to get to the market, until we could bribe the gate guard.
water works allowed multiple parties at once, yes multiple parties at once.
there was no fire wall spell
pk was the best spell to make groups say " what was that spell"
getting a vorpal was like winning the lottery
cotc loot runs to the fire chest for +5 mithral full plate
cot6 end chest for vorpals and such
giant caves dropping +2 tomes and +5 mithral and had 2 chests up top not 1 junk one below
100 hp was common for fighters(remember con was a dump stat)
    gwylans stand actually was hard
and many many more..oh yeah..what ever happened to Tattered Alice?
and osgoods basement had norm hard elite difficulties and the iron defender would own you on elite at the end

    I remember...

When the boss at the end of STK was a fire giant capable of wiping whole parties of the unprepared in seconds.

1st time I completed said boss with a pug party only to find out a day later that fight could be done easily with the 1 caster in the corner tactic.

Thinking I was awsome because I could solo Butchers path with my fighter.

Going OMG 1st run in the desert.

Spending hours running the desert trying to get a bloodstone.

Having a little accident 1st time a Scorrow just appeared in front of me and ripped me a new one.

    Team play :P

    Kobold Island (mod 1)
    Training Area
It was Dungeons and NO Dragons on release
    Dwarves Ruled
    Melee was king
Cloudkill, sneak, and Extend on a Wizard was THE build
    A Paralyzing weapon was uber.
    You only had 4 enhancements
Shot on the Run was a must have for ranged
CO6 and Threnal were the XP and loot runs
There was an Adar server and plenty of folks playing on it.

No. It was not because of complaints of players but because the developers couldn't stomach the thought of monks running around in full plate.

Hours of waiting for a cleric in party? Yes, because without a cleric you could not go anywhere.
Nope. If you had someone that could wand whip, that is what you did rather than wait around forever. Back then wand whipping was an acceptable method if you were tired of waiting. I lost track of the number of times I had to do that on my ranger.

I remember Lord Goodblade and his fake Tessius (however you spell it.)

I remember the in game plot of +Tchurchel vs. +SirLawrence (of whom I'm suspect was also what's his name in the market doing hand stands on a staff.) A bit sad that although he was sighted (dev controlled) rolling around and tumbling about in the Subterranean, he was lost to us for all time.

I remember the sever vs server challenge with opening up the Subterran and the demon invasion in the marketplace.

I remember when the giant caves and threnal was the place to go for loot.

I remember when vorpal was king and Tempest spine runs agaisnt the drow blackguard was a game of 20s.

Default exploits and things prior to nerfs

    1. Infinite 2wf interrupt for insane hit rate.

    2. Bow wielding stealth invincibility bug

    3. No repeat xp loss, if you were crazy enough you could level from 1 to 10 in a few hours invis running certain parts of tangleroot and or c06.

One and two I had to prove personally to a dev in game they could be done, lol.

Yeah! Coyle...the most hated npc ever...

The firetrap in STK. The most spectacular so far.

And classic question for VON4: "Do you have anarchic weapon?"

The days when it felt like at least half of DDO players had actually played pen and paper at least once in their lives.

    The "Power Five".

When we actually had to find trap boxes - back when there was no flashing box or idiot lines pointing to them.

    When death actually had consequence.

It's totally true, I have a reliable source. You better reroll now.

I think that (as i did) most of the players started play DDO because of that. And to prove it, many players, in the beginning, did Role Play.

each wand you slotted in a the hot bar had their own cool down instead of collective (beat the big red that way the first time after it came out...was on my wiz and the clerics had the casters take heal wands and we each were assigned a melee...you put three wands in and just go down the line).

Voice and mantle were the only ways to increase xp in quests (and they stacked).

Oh god perma blind.....that made completing quests interesting when you are whacking at things and all you're really doing is hitting a wall. I miss those days. Poison persisted outside of an instance as well.

a character could have only 4 enhancements active (to be chosen form a set you could unlock with action points)...

well. Do you imagine today to do the old raids (i mean VON, TITAN and TS) with a character built in that way?. Today we have at levels 10 and 12 enhancements and clickies that make our characters gods if compared with what you could do before...

    The challenge was really worth...
