    Default Chrome, really?

I cannot believe you downgraded your browser to this.

I mean after Akamai you choose a browser that tracks a players views and reports back to google. Great...

How do we get rid of it.

Not in the same way that Google does. There are many far less intrusive browsers out there.

Hang on? Does this mean they've stopped forcing us to use IE?
How is this a bad thing exactly?

Just like Akamai, show me that Chrome tracks YOU. Perform a clean boot of your system, run DDO, and do not log into any google service, including gmail and show me how it tracks YOU.

They stopped forcing IE last year sometime.

It has been a couple years now, they changed from an in process version of Mozilla to external process version of Chrome using a much maligned (inaccurately also) Awesomium wrapper. Chrome is far superior to Mozilla and IE is only good for downloading a real browser.

IE was only used in the Launcher, in game browser was Mozilla.

Oh, gotcha, my bad. I've never used the in-game browser. (Unless that's what the store uses; I've definitely used the store.)

Normally, I try not to derail threads, but this one started off pretty far off the rails, so I don't mind.

But have you tried IE in the last year or two? I used to do web development in the days of IE6, and I have never hated a piece of software -- or a person, or a concept, or anything -- as much as I used to hate IE. For years, I refused to touch it when it wasn't absolutely required for my work.

But these days, I actually like it. I still mostly use Chrome or Firefox instead, partly because I'm tied to some of my old extensions, but I'm thinking about switching. The current IE is both more standards compliant and faster than Firefox, and its update process is much less annoying than Chrome's. I have to admit, Microsoft is actually making a solid browser these days.

Agree. Googles whole business model is dependent on collecting and selling data. You think they became that large by offering free downloads and free search queries?

And it only took them, what, 18 1/2 years? There's a joke in there about an infinite number of code-monkeys banging away at keyboards until they spit out a decent app, I just know it.

Actually, I'm gonna date myself here, but I still remember when IE was the Chrome of its day: i.e., lean-n-mean browser upstart, especially compared to the increasingly turgid & unstable Netscape (remember it?). Then they introduced ActiveX and it's been downhill ever since (until recently)...

Now get off my virtual lawn!

The store uses it, as does all of the help and support screens.

Really?! Talk about first world problems. :P

I have used all of the above and have to test all of the above, so for me, using IE comes from simplicity sake rather than loving it. All the browers do the same thing: bring up webpages.

However, innovation brought on by the various web consortiums is adopted, integrated, and tweaked with IE faster than any other browser out there. So for that, I continuously use IE. When my kids or wife have site problems, the first troubleshooting step: try it in IE. If it works, know that other browsers will adopt it sooner or later.
