Default Curious: When did the Major Pot drop rate get removed or nerfed?

Just completed a TR Wizard from 1-28, and in that time I pulled a total of 0 major pots.

I used to get pots offered in end rewards fairly often. When did this change happen and does anyone know if it's WAI?

Just unlucky with your loot rolls - no conspiracy.

It's totally true, I have a reliable source. You better reroll now.

It's been like that for a while now. They gave so much through events / birthday cakes that they had to do something about it is my guess.

I don't often chug pots so I have hundreds of those big store pots (and all the majors just piling slowly)... I don't even mind the drop rate nerf but I understand that those that didn't stock them are affected.

I believe there was actually a stealth nerf on the drop rate for real.

About the only place I've still consistently gotten major pots is in the Vale end reward lists.

I think I pulled one from a chest two days ago though (may have been in ToD1). But ultimately, yes, I have gotten very few since I started playing more frequently again (since December). I'm not sure that I've seen one in any ES quest, although I'm sure that's just luck.

I still get them pretty frequently in chests and reward lists from quests levels 13 - 16, played on Elite (so Gianthold to Vale, pretty much). They're not super common, but I seem to get about 4 or 5 per life. I really only use them to give to healers who have gone to heroic efforts in a screwed-up PUG raid, so that's about enough of them for me.

pulled about 3 yesterday just running random quests. about every 3-4 lives I accumulate about a stack of 100 and give them away as free gifts to guildies. I would say OP just had some serious bad luck.

The word "about" has been used too many time here. I'm "about" sure that you are exaggerating .

I used to get so much more. Even ended up with (not about) just one at the end of a life recently.

I've been pulling in plenty of Majors lately. I don't keep an accurate count but 2 or 3 per week average this year sounds about right. Thats from epic content, my only heroic is currently 9. Perhaps major's were pushed up (down?) on the loot tables so you see less from below lvl 20 quests.

It seemed to be nerfed over the last year and over the last few weeks it looks like I get them frequently in rewards now.

Maybe you are in the wrong class. My rogue seems to pull major pots pretty often, and I stack them in the bank for when I get to a caster life.

The same time itemization was changed was the same time Pots (& Tomes) became more restricted. As a couple of posters mentioned though, inadvertently probably, is that certain chain rewards and individual quests remain unaffected. The individual quests are easy to find by finding BtA reward lists or lists that contain unique zone quest rewards (Ex. Vale and Fens). At least I find 'em in these zones when I run them.

    This.

I suspect it used to be a 2% chance to get a mana pot in a chest (as the only item) and a 2% chance for each item on your end reward list. So if you ran a long quest (10 items on the list, duplicates rerolled) you'd have about a 20% chance to get a mana pot. For every long quest. (2% could be wrong, it's a guess).

Since Shadowfell, the mana pots were moved to a potions loot table. In chests they are probably still 2% overall, but they do not, ever, drop as end rewards now, unless a quest has a specific loot table that points to the old version of the loot system.

    Tomes were the same.
    I don't have a zerging problem.

    I'm zerging. That's YOUR problem.

I actually noticed that too.. It's weird because I used to get more pots, but now it's so rare. Change happened in U20 I think.. You can find major pots in high level quests maybe gianthold on EE, but still.. It seems very low..

Sirgog is dead on with this one, might have been U14. But yes major change in pot drops - on very high level quests they can drop from breakables now (much more often then pre-U14).

If your just going from 1 to 20, I imagine its a major difference for people who did it pre-U14.

This is basically my suspicion as well. All standard end reward tables have 0% chance at a major pot or tome now (yay for ghostbaned loot tables!). Non-standard end lists like Vale or Orchard still seem to drop pots and tomes. One bonus is that with SP pots on the potion table in chest loot, they will never be your "main" loot in the box. It should always come in addition to a weapon/armor/accessory, the same with tomes in chests.

At any rate, the removal of pots from many reward lists is probably making the overall drop rate seem lower, depending on what quests you run often. If you happen to run a lot of Vale and Orchard (say you enjoy TR at 20 and don't play much epic) then you may very well be seeing pots in end reward lists much more than other players.

I did see a tome on an epic Wheloon list a few weeks ago so I'm thinking that Wheloon and Stormhorns count as non-standard reward lists and therefore have a chance at tomes, but with a smaller list due to the static items, I'm not exactly positive on how those lists work.
