    Default Help with Sun Elf Build

    I'm looking for some ideas for a Sun Elf first life build. Thoughts on 17 Cleric / 2 Paladin / 1 Wizard - pally for save boost, wiz for extra magic feat. Mostly caster, but some melee - mace and shield. What would the recommended feats and enhancements be to at least make a good caster and competent melee when needed? I know that there are other optimal builds out there, but wanted to know if this would be worthwhile.

    Hi, i see you are going to start a Morninglord, so I have a few suggestions. First I’m going to say the sun elf is very useful but he has more features to be a good wizard. So let's start with the suggestions:

    Be a cleric, yeah he starts as a cleric and you are going to have that level. But clerics are really good, he have a good potential for a healer or a melee cleric, I don't like the way of a caster with the morninglord, but we have to remember we have a good spell penetration, think this, if you have a good necromancer you are going to kill always, and most monsters have to be weakened, 20 cleric levels for more damage.
    Have 12 int, spellcraft is really usefull trust me

    Change your gears, the starter set is quit cool, but exist better things, i like some stuffs of the Demon sand, and now NECRO ELITE, if you are going to be a light caster run VOL and VON really have good fire stuffs. MENACE have all you want. Classic build use all the Gianthold set, but i think in epic levels they really sucks.
    Feats, you now metamagics are so important, if you are a caster don't use healing, just the tree core feats (empower, maximize and quicken) if you are a healer change maximize with enlarge. More SP whatever will be the builds, and single weapon fight with the melee one (with orbs) or two handed is a good option.

    Finally have this on mind, Tomes are really important in this game, if you want a real solo game you better have few tomes in your stats. But remember this we are clerics, the way of the healer don't need too much, you can be a good support. I'm pretty sad about some things about the game, the monsters are pretty hard even having great group things is going to be really hard and that’s why I suggest this for you.

    My necro cleric (the actual alt I have on live, as opposed to the build thread) used scepter of healing (ml10) and forgotten light (ml23+) while leveling to give him a melee option. Both those weapons use wisdom for attack and damage. I considered that good enough, not wanting to spend feats or enhancements on melee stuff.

    With the proposed nerf to Div Grace (meaning a pally 2 splash will cap out at +8 to saves) and the addition of MRR, I consider them less necessary. Although if you went pal 3, that gets you defensive stance for a big boost to PRR and will raise the save cap to +11. Still, for what you propose, I think I would prefer to have extra feats from ftr splash rather than extra saves from pally. Either way, there's some nice low-tier goodies in the Vanguard PrE.

    So let's just play around with the builder, shall we?

    The INT tome is just for extra skill pts and can be skipped. If you don't have a STR +2 tome to spare, start STR 13 INT 12 instead. You could also start INT 12 WIS 18 CHA 13.

    Shield Mastery feats + LSM will provide +15% doublestrike as well as decent PRR; EK core provides another +1% doublestrike while Imp Mage Armor provides +10% AC. For fun I invested heavily into WP for Ameliorating Strike, but that's probably not the best use of those APs. [And obviously you could reconfigure if you wanted auras instead of Flame Strike SLA.] Ellis's suggestions concerning the WIS-to-dmg maces is solid; I would also consider Phosphor (note the 18-20 x2 crit spec) if you have the Tome pages to spare.

    It's far from ideal for EEs, but for EN/EH it should work as a "wade in, swinging your mace, dropping your SLAs, and firing radiant bursts" sort of front-line cleric.
