They've also been spotted in Menechtarun, if I'm remembering right.

Have you been having any unexplained dizziness, morning nausea, that kind of thing since the sighting?

If this is foreshadowing that the next expansion pack will involve Spelljammers, I approve.

Fun Fact: The Empire of Netheril in Forgotten Realms was famous for it's flying cities, which iirc were carved from mountains. It's possible that we're seeing the Netheril main base.

I maybe wrong on this.... but as far as I know that magic was lost when Karsus attempted to seize the weave and brought all the netherese floating cities down save Shade that escaped to the shadowfell. I believe even in current time line that Shade is still the only floating citadel moving into 5th edition and the sundering. Don't get me wrong I haven't kept overly up to date on all the current happenings since 4th edition went live, but I haven't come across any other floating citadels in any works or anything I've come across that have the netherese in it. We kinda also get this from the ingame story where they find the netherese mythilar they use to float the glacier being referenced as lost for milenia. Also in the fact that they use the glacier as it is, rather than flip it and build ontop of the flat surface as they ancient empire would have done.

Best guess, if this is legit, preview for the upcoming new airship stuff... which would be cool if they got permission to use spelljammer since Fr and spelljammer have crossed in books before, but could be a couple of things.... or just the op trolling.

I think they probably would have flipped the glacier had they succeeded in floating it. I think they story would have been more interesting albeit a bit cliché to arrive just seconds too late to stop Amskar then have another quest where you return to fight the Netherese on their new floating fortress. No symptoms yet, but after taking the screenshots I forgot what I was doing and where I was headed in the Stormhorns. After the sudden confusion I retreated to the safety of the crafting hall!

    Default More screenshots

Here are the rest of the screen shots. I ran around and was almost able to get under it. Its in the atmosphere, so it can't be Vela's pad. Perhaps its a floating city like some of you suggested?

Maybe we can use our arties to make an airship in Forgotten Realms capable of reaching the base? Or perhaps we can track down Oswald Fiddlebender from Icewind Dale II and procure his ship and/or services to get there?

This is clearly a pixilation issue with your monitor. The Evening Star locals frequently release weather balloons in the Storm Horns area and this is clearly what you have captured here. Nothing to see here folks; move along.
