I vote Aasimar. Orcs will be ugly :P I dont want to play ugly divine.

Instead of a new race I'd rather see them balance the races we do have so people would actually play halflings, dwarves, half-orcs, drow, shadar-kai and elves.

Right now it seems like other than a few specific builds, everyone is bladeforged with a few humans and warforged thrown in.

how about the Duergar (dark dwarves) we have the dark elves it wouldn't be that much of a stretch specially with the new content delving more into the dwarven lore.

I can't picture a kobold arti lol they are not exactly known for their Int and that's an Int based class.
    Kobold classes I can see
fighter, barb(thrower), rogue, cleric, fvs, paly, monk, sorc
perhaps with their own line of shaman type abilities or thrower bonuses
and of course Kobold are considered Lawful so they wouldn't likely be bards, or druids either.

Iconic kobold barbarian thrower though... I could see that.

they jsut need to make a Monstrous humanoid Section, for character generation & not have the standard stuff... ie normal or iconic. and just put new ones there like kobolds, or 1/2 dragons or rakasha ect. perhaps look at some of the common played classes from AD&D and integrate some of them... even if they have lvl limitations...

    I say gnome or kobold.

Or "simply" revamp existing races in order to allow players to pick a subrace, with minor differences from base race and a slightly different racial tree.

Dwarf: dream dwarf (RoS), duergar (MM)
Elf: gray (MM), wild (MM), wood (MM)...
    HElf: half drow (RoF)
    HOrc: desert (UA), frostblood (DrM)
    Human: dragonborn (RoDr)
    Halfling: tallfellow (MM)

(MM=Monster Manual; RoS=Races of Stone; RoF=Races of Faerun; UA=Unearthed Arcana; DrM=Dragon Magic; RoDr=Raced of the Dragon)

How do you get dragonboring for humans? Asimar or triefling would fit better

If they ever decide to make a Barbarian Iconic, this is the only one I want to see.

As mentioned before, Gnome doesn't bring anything distinct enough for an MMO to make it worthwhile implementing.

Kobolds might make an interesting iconic but they aren't exactly a mainstream race.

I think I'd agree with Eberron's creator regarding subraces: at best they are unnecessary.

One of the most fun characters I ever played: A chaotic neutral pixie sorcerer using the racial class rules. Note, that does not mean insane. Arrena always had reasons for anything they did, even if the reason was just "I'm bored". Few could understand her logic. But she did have logic behind her actions. Of course, polymorphing into a young red dragon when the party confronted a red dragon in it's lair was a tad whimsical. To be fair though, the wildshaper druid in the party first turned himself into a red dragon, so Arrena called out "Oh oh! Me too! Me too!" before turning into a dragon. The dragon we were confronting rolled it's eyes, and left to avoid the impending headache.
