Round one finished. Didn't win but got some good stuff out of it anyway.
Really good fun. Thank you Cordovan for the event.

I think they already said there are going to be some nice bonus days this weekend. They just haven't said what yet.

Only one round per server? Am I understanding this correctly, in that only five people per server are going to get a shot at the Birthday event?

If so, then I'm utterly gobsmacked.

I am doing as many rounds as I can. For Argo, we only managed to fit in three rounds. (I did show up late due to a technical issue, but stick around until 12:30 PM Eastern to make up for it, got in a full hour.) If I get in a lot more on future servers due to being faster with the event, I'll return to Argo again.

If you are happy with this as a Birthday Event then who am I to question it? I'll just step out, and leave you to it...

*shrug* I just spent the 20 minutes leading up to the third round furiously LFM-mashing where I knew the LFM would show up. The reward for being the winner was pretty sweet, though.

Almost at a loss for words. No birthday box but a cheesy event that excludes 75 percent of the customers. Not even enough notice to give players a chance to schedule shift changes/time off.

This kind of "event" only makes the majority of the player base angry. Reminds me of the "Who's your favorite monster" event a few years back that made you sign up for FB and Twitter to play.

Tells me that the devs are stretched so thin there isn't anyone to code in a box.

The main anniversary thing arrives with Update 21 and is the card event/game we've referenced previously. This is just me trying to bring some fun.

Are we going to receive details about this card game before the update?

Usually we just get a +2 tome (srsly) cake. This year we're getting "?trading cards?" with the update and this added "event" from Cordo. So it may be small but it is more than last year.

Personally I need some +3 LR Hearts. I hope if they open the egghunt this year they revert the drop rate on LR3's to it's debut year of about 1/4 compared to the last egg hunt's 1 in never with creamed corn for all the other prizes. I bought extra turn-in things from the store the first year... I haven't since.

For the Qmasters: First Year: Spent TP on egg hunt, Following Years: Did no spend TP. Revert the drop rates. K. Done. Thanks. Go FIX IT NOW.

tbh, I'm concerned about the card event, having to pair up cards to get some effect that you don't know beforehand (I'm sure someone will horde cards and post the formula on DDOWiki before it even starts). I don't want to have to jump through 80 fire-engulfed hoops to get a few cards. The birthday box was mostly meh, but it was a nice "thank you" from Turbine for playing.

There's just no pleasing people. The only thing I have a problem with is not having 1 or 2 scheduled rounds during the east coast wee hours so people on the other side of the world and late night/early morning players can participate.
    Gary Gygax quotes

The essence of a role-playing game is that it is a group, cooperative experience.

There is no winning or losing, but rather the value is in the experience of imagining yourself as a character in whatever genre you are involved in, whether its a fantasy game, the Wild West, secret agents or whatever else. You get to sort of vicariously experience those things.

Role-playing isn't storytelling. If the dungeon master is directing it, its not a game.

When AI approximates Machine Intelligence, than many online and computer run RPGs will move toward actual RPG activity. Nonetheless, that will not replace the experience of "being there" anymore than seeing a theatrical motion picture can replace the stage play.

The secret we should never let the game masters know is that they don't need any rules.
