Ok.....in content previously released (like high road) we had shadows. They are common in mid to high level content that has undead. However with the addition of wheloon prison / storm horns shadows were changed in the new content and some old content.
The new and improved shadows incorporate the two most annoying features that some mobs have. Many players have voiced their dissatisfaction with the two abilities when speaking of mobs who only have one of the abilities.
The first is tunneling - Usually this ability only shows up on scorpions. However for some reason shadows were given this ability. They tunnel into the ground and like scorpions pop up in a different place. In my opinion this ability doesn't add any difficulty it is just annoying.
The second is phasing - Previously wraiths were the only ones with this ability. However someone deemed that shadows should now phase as well......again its not difficult just annoying.
So in the end what you get are mobs that phase and tunnel almost constantly and only appear so you can melee them for a bit before phasing and or tunneling again.
Ok so you add an very annoying mob that requires mana users to use more spell points thus increase mana pot sales in the ddo sotre.....or some thinking like that......but why retroactively change shadows in already existing content? but not all shadows in all content?
