Default Tips every veteran should know?

I found one of these filled with tips for newer players and thought it would be nice to see how veteran are nitpicking one another.

My tips: Take your time through traps! They always follow a pattern and you might negate your damage entirely if you do it wisely. Waiting 3 complete cycles usually works, count how long it takes to complete each step of the pattern. No group is so fast you'll lose out presence by lagging 10 seconds behind.
Also use Mouse Look at least just for this, you don't have to worry about your surroundings or monsters, just focus on the trap.

This guide https://www.ddo.com/forums/showthrea...tion-Avoidance reveals some parts of traps deal absolutely no damage along with other interesting tips.

    ===

Another: Cookies are good for your health, during events you usually get many bonuses completely for free and players just sell or ignore, make a hotbar for it and use it often, they're especially good if you TR often since Festivult cookies have no minimum level.

Teleporting to House Phiarlan is an ideal way to get to your airship:
    - No door to open (like house k bank or house j magic shop)
    - Less lag compared to harbor

Restless Isles is the fastest way to Greater Teleport to your airship.

Ice Storm wands are sold at the Twelve. (Mainly useful for Inferno of the Damned.)

You can turn off hints in Options => Gameplay. I went through at least three lives before I learned this. No more hint storm when washing up on the beach upon TR.

That's all I can think of off the top of my head.

Potions, wands, and scrolls. If you don't have/use them - you are not prepared.

When shopping for items at the brokers in the Marketplace or Eveningstar, you may "change instance" and see different/more items for sale.

And Ice Storm scrolls are sold by Auromir Palance <Arcane Scroll Vendor - Levels 4-5> found in House of Wizardry in House Jorasco.

And either wand or scroll is faster than luring mephits to blow out the torches. If you do go the mephit route, you might want Jump scroll or potion if your Jump skill is low. The Azure Sky Jelly Cake is nice too.

Edit - oops, no jump wand

If you stop using guild potions, you can buy unbound +4 stats, rage and haste potions with minimum level 1 now.

    1) If you carry enough Haste potions, you do not need to slot striding/speed in your gearset. (Exception - Beholder quests). You can sell Festivult coins on the AH for enough to fund any haste potion addiction. Make sure to buy your potions 2000 at a time, those potion vendors have children to feed.

    2) If you see a trap, remember to factor in latency when timing it. In Australia (typical ping 250-350ms), you want to start moving a good quarter second before it is 'safe' on your screen.

    3) Grease is a party buff. It tells you who still needs Freedom of Movement, and also (in conjunction with Greater Dispelling) deals with unwanted party members.

    4) Almost any raid can be wiped by a combination of Globe of Invulnerability (to suppress everyone's resists and FOM and deathward) and Grease. I particularly recommend this during the second Lolth fight.
    I don't have a zerging problem.

    I'm zerging. That's YOUR problem.

Also if you have some spare TP laying around, potions of wonder are back in the store

Default controls are (as always in games) bad.
    Don't forget to change them.

Ctrl click to buy more than 1 item at time.

    I already knew 3, and now I'm loving 4.

    Bind in The Twelve asap.

When you die, Airship is right there. Not to mention a Vendor a couple steps away.

I believe the Rogue and Artie skills boost enhancement has been removed, but Human Versatility still has it.

When making a large purchase or sale, and wearing your Haggle/Cha items, remember to give your Skills enhancement clicky a go (on top of Heroism).

And if you have a caster of the appropriate level, you can jump in the Delirium quest and use the shrine to get your sp back quickly and cheaply before you hop on the boat. The shrine is right by the door and there are no monsters to aggro.

On your last level before reaching 28, if you are planning to ETR, do a couple of the quicker sagas and save them. It's not too hard to get a toon to level 22 or so just by turning in all the sagas right after you ETR. It makes gearing a lot easier (assuming you're done with heroic TRs) as you don't have to keep any gear below 22nd level.

Use choke points to group up mobs to minimize incoming damage, when fighting in melee, and before hitting them with an AOE.

Sometimes you can use traps to do a lot of your dirty work. Stand right on the edge of where a trap will hit things, so your character takes no damage, and let the boss stand in a spot where they get hit over and over by the trap while you fight them. Also, lead large groups of mobs into AOE traps that repeatedly fire and watch those mobs keel over. Dead mobs still count toward your conquest bonus, even if killed by a trap.

Hirelings can be summoned to you while you're in mid-air, after you jump, for example. Doing this makes your hireling to teleport to you, rather than trying to reach you by running through that trap / spawn that would certainly kill them otherwise. -- Credit to EllisDee47 for this suggestion.

Pressing "q" will highlight an interactable (including a treasure chest or clickie / glowie in a mission. This is very, very handy for finding things that might be hidden or difficult to spot with the naked eye. You can press "q" multiple times and it will always shift to another interactable, as long as more than one is available.
